- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.
- MAME INP recordings are encouraged but optional.
- A screenshot is required to enter a score (press F12 to save screenshot showing your final score) or take a photo of the game screen.
- If you're a MARP competitor on this title, keep in mind this is just a friendly competition among forum members, so maybe you shouldn't enter. However, if you're a forum member and this is a game you're good at and nobody knows about it, this is your time to shine!

I like how the background scrolls at an inconsistent rate relative to your character and enemy fire.  Actually, no, I hate that.

This game is pretty wacky.  Flew right through some levels, and others took me 10-15 credits.  Finally gave up on one of them (hornet's nest or something).

151,900. This game is not forgiving. I can't count the number of times I died by stupid cheap shots.

A couple tips for higher scores:
- never pick up the movers and you'll get a 10,000 point fuel bonus at the end of each level
- as annoying as the quiz is, a perfect score with no errors gives a 10,000 point bonus

Konami Executive: "Rolling Thunder is great. I wish we'd thought of that. Make something like Rolling Thunder. But in space. And not as good."

Konami Programmer: "Yes sir!"

25,590. Not sure how to do better--why do I have 0 points in the right column, but that IAA guy in 10th place w/ 20,000 got 32 points?

The last column is trivia questions which you don't get until after the first boss so those top scores are kind of bogus.

Duck a lot and just memorize the pattern of guys on each level. Lay down constant fire against the green guys so they can't launch their rockets.

I keep trying but this game is just not happening for me.   I was stuck at 30k for a week.   I made it past 50k ONCE.   I can't stand the fact you can't run and shoot at the same time.   The controls are annoying.

Got to memorize where the guys are
I shoot a lot of the time the follow the bullets a little bit and it kills anybody as they come on the screen
another little tip is while your flipping from top to bottom it seems like shots go through you
if your quick enough you can avoid getting killed sometimes
managed to up my score some more
this boss sucks but i'm starting to get his pattern down

I just can't motivate myself to go after that score. I definitely think I can do better, but just not that crazy about this game enough to keep playing it. It's unforgiving and clunky.

Well I actually managed to double my score: 224090

if you think of it make a video I would love to compare our strategies

Just read your comment ... do you mean a mame recording or an actual video?

Anyway my current strategy is like this:
-don't use fuel
-screw up each quiz  :'(
-go slow: shoot 3 times, move, shoot 3 times, move/jump, etc
-listen if you hit targets off screen
-1st boss: jump up shoot, shoot (2 hits), jump down/up/down, shoot, shoot (2 hits), jump up, shoot, done
-2nd boss: jump+shoot while he is going down, then jump to ceiling as he will move to the left, keep shooting, while he moves up (usually 2 hits), jump down to the ground, repeat
-I suck at the level before the 3rd boss, so I tend to use fuel near the very end
-3rd boss is a bit more challenging: those blue balls he shoots will travel down as soon as they are above you (or up if you are on the ceiling and they are below you). Afterwards they will always go to the right towards the boss! So if the boss is high, stay on the ground and close to the boss. When he shoots a blue ball, just move to the left but make sure you trigger the ball to go down as close to the boss as possible. This will give you the space needed to jump shoot the boss (get 2 hits in). The boss will now be very low and shoot another blue ball, so you should go to the ceiling. Trigger the ball to go up and just repeat this process.
-no tips yet for after the 3rd boss, as I've only been there once

I just have to say this one more time, but man those quizes(?) are f*%king annoying. I want to play a bloody action game not memorize answers to stupid questions.

5-1 is hard but doable, 5-2 is really annoying as you are on the ceiling the entire level

Oh and here is a vid. The quality is really bad and there is no sound. How did you make your recording Comtek?

Terra Cresta's already been done, although a while ago (#20). My only suggestion would be trying something in one of the lesser used genres -- maze, puzzle, platform, for a change of pace.

Thank god the surprise attack challenge is over. That game was worse than hammering Harry.

I use mameuifx32 and select play and record as avi
but the file is huge I use leawo video converter to convert to internet HD

I did a quick test with AVI it and averages at 120MB per second, so its an option for me as I have a small SSD with just 30GB left. I recorded an MNG, which ended up being 1.3 GB, but I am still looking how to properly encode this into something youtube accepts without throwing all the quality out of the door.

tried to play your video it says private

Sorry about that.

that upside down level sucks I cant get through it without the rocket pack but I got through

Well done getting past that stage :applaud:

Wow only 4 people submitted scores

Your scores scared everybody off ;D
