Specific Rules:

- settings: Default/Preset difficulty levels.
- One Credit
- Bonus life at 20,000
- Difficulty (3 cars, easy)
- No MAME Cheats

- Last day is Monday November 5th (11:59:59pm Pacific Daylight Time), 2012.

General Rules:

- Highest score wins.

- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.

- MAME INP recordings are encouraged but optional.

- A screenshot is required to enter a score (press F12 to save screenshot showing your final score) or take a photo of the game screen.

- If you're a MARP competitor on this title, keep in mind this is just a friendly competition among forum members, so maybe you shouldn't enter. However, if you're a forum member and this is a game you're good at and nobody knows about it, this is your time to shine!

- Even if you don't have a competitive score or if you don't *think* that you have a competitive score, please post it anyway to keep the thread fun & to give everybody a good sense of score ranges.

- Please make sure your scores are from games that take place during the competition period (no posting your best score from last year, etc.).

- Use of autofire or other non-standard hacks within MAME or your PC's OS are not allowed. No program or other person or entity of any sort may manipulate your controls during your game. Coaching & back-seat driving is fine as long as the party doesn't directly influence the game or controls.

- If you can beat any of the high scores from the previous competitions, you can submit your score to the BYOAC High Game Scoreboard.

I was having a hard time choosing between Rally-X and New Rally-X. Finally decided I couldn't take 2 weeks of New Rally-X music. This one is not so loud. I know I played this growing up but can't remember where.

A game that is much harder than it seems it would be. After a few tries today, I got
46,240 - Round 5

I'll go ahead and bump this and also try my hand in the competitions again.

58330 and round 6 after a couple initial tries.

I usually just jump right into games so it took me a few tries to figure things out:

You can tap button 1 to lay down some kind of cloud that blocks the red cars. Don't use it too much though, it drains fuel.
Once you get the "S" flag, the remaining flags will each have double their original point value. It goes without saying that you should seek this flag first, especially in the early easy rounds.
And of course, the more fuel you have at the end, the more points you get.

I got through 5 rounds without losing a life then tanked them all in round 6. I should be able to nab a better score.

Only 2 people submitted scores over two weeks? Perhaps we should take a sabbatical until interest picks up again.. or pick a real classic people want to play.

I'm going to let the general gaming public choose the next game if they wish. Be sure to check the list above of games already paid and avoid those, picking something MAME supports which people with all types of machines can run. A suggestion by someone along with two others seconding and thirding the choice and I'll start up the compo. If nothing is chosen by the weekend, I'll pick something to keep the ball rolling at least.

I would've loved to have played me some Rally-X, but I had me a baby 2 weeks ago.

The last 2 evenings, he would sleep only if I were holding him.

So, I went through my cab looking for lots of one-handed games. Played all sorts of Pac- games.

I vote for a one-handed game next! =D Trackball, trigger-stick, or 4-way or 8-way all the way!!!

Congratulations to you and your wife! I have 2 girls (10 and 14). been awhile since having to deal with the baby stuff but remember all those long nights.

Thanks. Got a Baby Bjorn today for hands-free baby-holding.

Played Rally-X about 6x. Got 51,690 on the last game. I found that I didn't have enough time (or skill) to hunt around for the S flag, so I just went for any flag. On this game, I lucked out & got the S flag 1st on rounds 1 & 2 & 4. On bonus round 3, I got it 3rd. Choked on round 5. I don't think I'll be able to top that score.
