Nice choice. I scored an outstanding 1800 points on my first try!

I remember that game back when I was a kid but didn't play it much.  11k is all I can get so far.

Oh. I glossed right over it.

So here's a sort of average score for me (though it was my only play so far tonight). Some lame deaths (including the last one, where I got caught in the statue trying to move sideways before the trap door opened...Obviously I didn't watch for the puff of steam! And I thought I knew the game!!), but not bad. You get a lot of extra Indies. Anyways, these are in the info, but essentially there are two ways I repeatedly added a bunch of points to my score. Learn em, love em, do em. In no time you'll be scoring high.

By the way. I recommend you play this in MAME .146 at least, as the audio is superb. You can almost tell it's Ford's voice at times, and the sound field in general is spacious. Gives you that minty fresh feeling!

78,590 on my second game. I can do better. My last death was weird--I was cruising around the 3rd "stone" stage & guess I was too generally near the lava & fell in--I thought I was far away...

I don't see any super secret point scoring opportunities--I just played it straight. Memorization on the cart stage can lead to big points whipping the Thuggees standing trackside.

So fun to keep whipping the Thuggees & watching them twitch & scooch down the screen till they fall. "The Mamushka!"

115u2 doesn't save high scores, BTW.

Thanks,
-Jason

It's right in the history.dat . So here's a score. Some retarded deaths, some times I got cheated, like in the last image. I was right under it, but no. Anyways, something to shoot for.

Note that going the EASY route means you have to go through the caves and mine cart *four* times.

I guess I needs ta point my finger:

At the difficulty select screen, whip all the hanging skeletons and both snakes to receive a 5,000 point 'Completion Bonus'. Whipping all the gas cannisters in the mines stage gives a 'Pyro Bonus' and whipping every bone pile and snake in the altar stage also gives a bonus. On levels which feature pits of molten lava, whipping enemy guards until they fall in the lava will earn additional bonus points.

I'm not sure about the pyro bonus, but I do the start screen (which is actually ten thousand) and altar screen bonuses every time.

Best I could muster was what I got earlier in the compo:  122,360.  I tried a few more times with lessor scores.

This one looks like it's at an end.  I can't help to think it was 'doomed' from the start, it never really got any traction and attention and player base was thinned out by having the other replay competition running concurrently to this.

Gray_Area, the selection is yours if you choose to continue.

From my prospective, the replay didn't have anything to do with it.   I couldn't get into either of the games.

Haven't logged on in awhile and I see I missed a couple of my favorite games ;) I'm gonna make a couple comments, for future reference.

I think the pyro bonus is only available on the 1st cave of the Medium track. And it is 5K, not 10K for whipping all the snakes and skeletons on the level selection screen. I've played this game enough to know  ;D You end up with 5700, 5K for the bonus and 700 for the 2 snakes and 5 skeletons whipped.

Note that going the EASY route means you have to go through the caves and mine cart *four* times.

It doesn't matter which route you take, you do the caves and mine cart 4 times. You have to grab the 3 Sankara stones (on the temple level after each mine cart), and the 4th time, instead of going to the temple, you go on the bridge and face Mola Ram himself. After that you go to a challenge stage similar to the cave level, except it's HUGE and you're just picking up statues. Normally I take the Medium route, as that's the one I'm most familiar with. The Hard one scores really big, but I can't time the broken rails right and always end up dying. Normally on a Medium route game, I can make it to the statue stage with a couple lives left. I probably wouldn't have posted a score anyway, since I think I had the Easy track MAME record at one time (don't remember, and the site's been down for a few weeks now). Looking thru my MAME recordings, my top score is around 330K for this track.

I have passed Mola Ram once, and not sure I vaguely remember the statue screen. In any case, it's so hard in current MAME.....possibly most accurate, as I remember when I played it in '85 it being really hard NOT to fall in the mine.....I got to Mola Ram, amazingly with three guys and lost them all, twice making it within a hair's breadth of the Stone!
