Description:
A futuristic jump and run game. You can walk different ways through the game!
SNK, the Cyber-Lip maker, released 156 different machines in our database under this trade name, starting in 1979.

Other machines made by SNK during the time period Cyber-Lip was produced include Magician Lord, Baseball Stars Professional, Riding Hero, Top Player's Golf, Puzzled, Neo Geo MVS, Super Champion Baseball, Prehistoric Isle In 1930, Genshi-Tou 1930's, and Next Space, The.

General Rules:
- One Credit, No Continues.
- Highest score wins.
- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.
- MAME INP recordings are encouraged but optional.
- A screenshot is required to enter a score (press F12 to save screenshot showing your final score) or take a photo of the game screen.
- If you're a MARP competitor on this title, keep in mind this is just a friendly competition among forum members, so maybe you shouldn't enter. However, if you're a forum member and this is a game you're good at and nobody knows about it, this is your time to shine!
- Even if you don't have a competitive score or if you don't *think* that you have a competitive score, please post it anyway to keep the thread fun & to give everybody a good sense of score ranges.
- Please make sure your scores are from games that take place during the competition period (no posting your best score from last year, etc.).
- Use of autofire or other non-standard hacks within MAME or your PC's OS are not allowed.  No program or other person or entity of any sort may manipulate your controls during your game.  Coaching & back-seat driving is fine as long as the party doesn't directly influence the game or controls.
- If you can beat any of the high scores from the previous competitions, you can submit your score to the BYOAC High Game Scoreboard.

After a few games 24,000-ish. Didn't think it was worth posting yet.

I also got ~24K, I'm not loving it. It doesn't have that arcade feel to it, more like a computer or home console.

And I think there was a Neo-Geo game. Wasn't one of the competitions Metal Slug? (too lazy to click on 001-099)  :lol

Ok if I play on the real hardware? I own this one for real.

Rules listed in OP don't prohibit it.

Nobody can complain that your system isn't arcade accurate.   ;D

Maybe consider taking a pic of your current high score screen before you start in case you don't set a new personal high score.   :dunno

I won't have a saved High Score as that cart has never been in my current Neo Geo at all. I used to have Neo Geo running in both my STV Die Hard cabinet and my Samurai Shodown cabinet but I eventually got my Die Hard motherboard fixed and it went back to Die Hard (that was the one that had Cyber Lip in it).

Original hardware is legal. It's been used in previous competitions.

No need for a pre-high scores shot. I'm sure that many of us are using high score save schemes on our MAME cabs & have played these competition games prior to the competition & therefore might have old good scores already saved.

Thanks,
-Jason

Is it just me, or does this game seem a little slow/clunky?

I do actually remember it being better when it was new than it is when I play it today...I guess it didn't hold up great--or it's just more fun with 2 players?

When it was new it was a big deal because of the massive boss opponents that hadn't previously been possible on most hardware because of sprite size limitations. I remember seeing it in all the gaming magazines at the time. However things like sprite size limitations quickly became a thing of the past and the rest of the game didn't really push the Neo Geo hardware in terms of how nice it was actually capable of making games look.

Also, it gets better the more you play it.

85,900. I'm totally winning. If nobody else posts a second-place score, then I totally get to pick another awesome game, right? Totally?

Wow!  Didn't actually expect to get second place with that high score.  If I read correctly, the results are:

1. jasonbar: 85,900
2. epetti: 27,100
3. mimic: 24,000

No other entries from last night?  paigeoliver never ended up submitting from the original machine?

If not, I'll come up with something later today for the next one.

No pressure, right?  I should probably go the safe classic route, but I think I've got my pick.
