I have a running list of possible games that I maintain, so that I don't have to start thinking from square 1 every time I win...oh, but I haven't won for 30 competitions now--that list got a bit stale! :]
Anyway, I reeeeeally wanted to pick Ninja Baseball Batman, but I gave it a good test yesterday to see how it holds up, & it seems really easy & the game lasted quite long & didn't require a ton of skill. But, it's soooooo cool. I'll table that one for now. Maybe we can do that game later with some modified rules: hard difficulty or just use 1 life or something...
Other coulda woulda shouldas that are awesome but not quite fit for the competition, but I'll share them here as some of my recommended favorites:
The Irritating Maze: awesome but doesn't seem to keep score, which is irritating...I supposed we could gauge winners by progress on the mazes, but some mazes have multiple paths, so it's too difficult to be fair about progress after all...
Lost Tomb: awesome but requires 2 8-way sticks & a button very near one of those--everybody might not be set up for this...
Mad Planets: super awesome, but requires a trigger stick & spinner--again, a little too specialized on the controls...
Outfoxies: super duper awesome, but doesn't run at full speed on my PC...
Power Drift: super duper duper awesome, but requires a good PC & a 270 steering wheel...
Radmobile: awesome, but ditto Power Drift
Space Harrier: awesome but really needs an analog stick for precise control
Space Zap: awesomest twitch game ever, but needs 4 buttons set up N, S, E, W. I have this layout inherent in my big 4P panel where 1P & 2P are angled 45 degrees, but most people probably don't...
Spelunker: one of the awesomest games ever on the Atari 8-bit computers, but this arcade port is rather unawesome...
Super Bishi Bashi Champ: awesomely Japanese, benefits from big R G B buttons (could put colored tape on your control panel during this competition as an aid), but graphics glitch in an unacceptably non-awesome manner on round 5...
Vanguard: awesome, but ditto Space Zap button layout
So, those are the games that I'm *not* picking. I'll get the next competition thread posted tonight. Hint: the game starts with the letter "A"!!!!
Thanks,
