Have a feeling it's gonna take a pretty high score by the end of the 2 weeks -- after a couple games got 164K. Definitely an interesting game and good choice for a competition !

Sounds like you're advancing at about the same pace - My current high is 228,270 most games are around the 200K mark but it seems to get tougher right around the 200K mark.

This is the first time I've played this game.  Still trying to come up with a solid strategy. I'm determined to break 300k!  :)

330,370

Finally got thru level 6 without losing a guy.   I think I was on round 8, I've never gotten past it.   The nice thing about this game is it only takes a few minutes to play.

Here are a few hints, some of these might sound obvious but...

1. If you are shooting the eyes then try to avoid traveling along the sides, they seem to reappear right on top of you.
2. Early on I found myself traveling toward the pieces I needed but you only need to be in a the same row or column and then shoot it.
3. Bob and weave, bob and weave...

178K after a few games last night.

This game seems to just keep throwing points at you if you...just hang out...is everybody else getting 10 points every quarter-second or so?

Does it pay off to just hang out & hunt eyes until you get bored?

On the screen that gives the scoring it displays (as I recall) 50 points per second for surviving.

Yep 50 points per second - and you can hang out but the eyes tracking you get faster each time they get killed and reappear so it's deciding how long to attempt to hang out vs. losing a man.

Good to know.  I wondered why when I played the guy in the top left kept moving like molasses.  My best so far was 56K.  Good job to everyone else.  You guys are making me look like a chump.   ;D

I took my awhile to get a fair score.  I still can't consistently get to level 5.  I am playing with a keyboard on top of my control panel.   Gonna try again though.

Alright,I'll bite.   What's with the keyboard?   I sometimes have to use a keyboard for challenges (I only have one stick and 2 buttons) but not this one.   I think this would be very difficult on a keyboard!

made it to stage 7 and points added up pretty fast on that stage

I stay along the bottom and get the rows shooting up then that usually on leaves like 4 pieces that I have to venture off the bottom to get
also like kixfan said don't go in a straight line bob and weave

Here is some quick math on that...

Let's assume we want to get close to the current score, so lets say 300k.    300k divided by 50 point per second is 6000 seconds which is 100 minutes.   This assumes you stay on level one, doesn't count point for shooting eyes and all the other point on the screen.   I'm going to try this now...

lol I find right around 28000 to 30000 they get pretty hard to get every time on level one
I usually stick on level on until I get 27000

Oh, I just still have a few button holes to drill yet.  I thought I'd throw it out there.  It is hard with a keyboard, but my low score has as much to do with me as lack of a joystick.  That and I missed out on the earlier comps because I didn't have a control panel ready and missed out on some fun I suspect.

Actually not that long as IIRC you also get 100 points per eye you kill !

Tried hunting eyes on level 1 a few times last night.

Miserable scores.

Didn't work out at all for me.

You would be surprised at how many points you can get in level 8.   I only had a chance to clear maybe a quarter of the screen and got about 50k.   I have no idea what happens when after level 8.

After a handful of games I got 131K without gouging points.

Pretty fun little game though.  Wish there was a spawn warning.  Being on the most outside is dangerous!

First, I want it to be clear I have not posted ANY scores using this technique.   That being said, I found a rather large hole in this game.   There are certain places on the screen where if you get the eyes grouped together you can get them to sit because there is a wall.   The most important part is that you want to be able to sit also.   Hope that made sense!   :dizzy:

The first time I did this tonight I got them stuck and walked away.   When I came back the game was over and I was at 309k?   Not sure what cause them to die.   So I tried again, currently at 409k and going.   I'll let you know what I get in the morning.   I tried to do this on levels 1 and 2 and could not get it to work.   Level 3 seems to be just the right amount of speed to get this to work.

Apparently 999,999 is the most it will display cause this morning I was back at 317k.   Also, I found out that my daughter had wanted to play and interrupted  my first attempt and that is why it quit.    :lol

Here is a screen shot of my INVALID score.   In this attempt I actually got them split into 2 groups, previous attempts they were in 1 group.

I think the most eyes I got to be still was 3, but I always had one more pellet to shoot out before I cleared the level. Also those were before our conversation about how points are gained.

I thought the eyes triangulating your position was how part of the game worked.  Also I think the enemy eyes would die after a certain time in order to respawn to attempt to triangulate again.

I thought the fact that each eye had it's own method to moving was to keep it from doing what I did.

Anyone can weigh in on an old score by posting in the thread again right?

As fun as galaga is, it would be good to see a different one I think.
