Incidentally, what episode are you guys up to now?

In the UK they've just showed the one where Sarah Connor gets shot and sees what appears to be a UFO (or maybe she was just hallucinating). From the comments I've just read, I'm getting the impression that episodes in the UK and US are now being shown concurrently.

Fridays episode was the episode right after that one.

Maybe it's the cold meds that I am on, but I thought this week's episode was ok.   :dunno

True.  And John seemed to get quite distracted by her lack of clothes in the last episode.

Yes, that part, however so brief (no pun intended), was very eye opening.

I dont want to spoil it for you guys who havent seen it yet, but I just dont understand how Sarah wound up where she was..

Too many loose ends...
But it seems this has been this shows trade mark.

I haven't watched the new ep yet, but from what I am reading maybe I should just skip it.

Anyways, it is good to hear that the show will pick up for the rest of the season. Just like Knight Rider, this show should have never pretended to be something it isn't. If everyone expects it to be a 'terminator of the week' big explosions show, they DAMN WELL better deliver to keep all the casual fans happy. In the mean time, they can weave in long term ideas and character development. In season 1, the show accomplished that, and is why I liked it. They have gotten away from that this year, and it has been a snoozefest.

Like I said, I hope these next 6 live up to my newly heightened expectations.

Looks very promising.

If these next episodes turn out to be flops they need to fire the writers and hire new ones.

When that happens those writers are usually for a different show.  This show looks like it would be great on cable but isn't all that good for network.

Cable has awesome character driven, well written shows. The mere fact that AMC of all channels can produce a show that spanks the networks ass in awards shows EXACTLY what the networks are doing wrong. You have to remember that Mad Men was passed on by the big boys in favor of reality shows and crime dramas. Not to mention they have Breaking Bad too.

USA also has awesome shows. These stations have smaller budgets, and smaller ratings expectations. They can't rely on big budget, big name, and big network - all to push off a ---smurfy--- show on the unsuspecting public.

And yes, I am still pissed that Firefly and Jericho were not picked up by a cable network. Both shows were PERFECT for the cable network formula.

That's what I'm saying - cable stations can afford patience because they don't flip out if a show only has a couple million viewers.  They don't have to rely on the lowest common denominator viewers like networks do.

I missed last nights episode because I had to work late.
But I just watched it on fox.com.
I must say it was extremely better!
Now if they can keep it up, maybe this show wont fall off the list..

True.  And John seemed to get quite distracted by her lack of clothes in the last episode.

I saw another episode a couple of days ago. However Summer Glau remained fully clothed throughout. So I'm guessing that we must actually be two episodes behind.

Anyway despite that disappointment it was pretty good. The sequence where Catherine Weaver goes through the warehouse casually killing everyone was particularly well done and wouldn't have looked out of place in one of the movies. I'm glad that we finally have a terminator who can genuinely kick ass. Up until now the terminators have been far too easy to kill and that's drained the series of a lot of tension.

Cable has awesome character driven, well written shows.

I think you've hit the nail on the head regarding one of the main flaws of The Sarah Connor Chronicles - most episodes tend to be plot rather than character driven. Characters have an irritating tendency to behave inconsistently and/or incredibly stupidly just to drive that week's plot forward.

It's a shame because, in other respects, the characters actually have quite a bit of depth. It's interesting that most of them seem to have hidden agendas which are gradually being revealed.

I have to agree that episode 17 was a lot better than the previous 2 (or 3?). They seem to have picked up where they left off before Sarah went schizo. An easy (but big) improvement was to have Sarah herself not so much in it.

I haven't watched the 2 newest eps.

Anyways, even though this last ep is 'supposed' to be better, the ratings numbers show that viewership dropped 14% to below 3 million. There is officially no way in hell this show will get a pickup. Thank you writers for KILLING your own show with a string of royally ---smurfy--- episodes!

I didn't think #16 was too bad. It just pissed me off that it made zero sense - well it made sense, but it was stupid. Very poorly handled by the writers.

The newest was pretty good. In all honesty, the show runners would have been better off just deleting the last 6 or so episodes and went right to this one.

I'm not sure how to process "it wasn't too bad but it made zero sense, was stupid, and was poorly handled."  Don't those things make it bad?

I watched 17 last night.  It was better but at this point I've stopped caring about any of the chars so it's too late.  I was happy to see something bad happen to one of them out of sheer boredom with the show.

I can't say it was entirely bad, because I was somewhat entertained, and it was a far deal more exciting than the past 4-5 eps. I guess I just felt robbed in the end because the whole episode was completely meaningless.

I agree on not caring about the characters. I guess I wasn't the only one who uttered a "Thank goodness!". I did like the outcome of that plotline. Interesting twist that I can't say I saw coming.

I agree with Shardian. Episode 16 wasn't that bad, it just had no apparent relation to the series. Or was that episode 15? Probably both. The factory episode and the sleep "kidnap" were both kinda like loose sand.

Loose sand that sucks.  I still can't figure out how she got shot and almost died and then didn't even have a limp.  What, did they pause for 9 months while she healed and rehabbed before going back to the factory?

My favorite part of the string of crappy episodes?

They wasted money paying Cameron and Derek Reese. For all the standing around looking serious they had them doing, they might as well just set up cardboard cutouts.

And while I appreciated it, what was up with the gratuitous underwear shot? I felt like I was watching Showtime on Saturday night. Of course, this show was starting to have the writing quality of one of those crappy softcore movies so its not too out of place I guess.

I agree with most of the comments in this thread.

I still have a soft spot for the series despite its flaws. However, episode 15 (which I saw a couple of days ago) sorely tested my loyalty.

Until the last five minutes nothing of any substance happened. The director made a valiant effort to paper over the cracks by repeatedly showing flashbacks to the previous episode (which was quite eventful) but he didn’t really get away with it.

The writers really need to raise their game and time is running out. I’ll be extremely disappointed if a third series is not commissioned but we get to the end of series two without all of the loose ends having been tied up. The series deserves better than that.

Ok, last nights episode was pretty dang good, I thought.
If the writers had displayed this sort of writing in the "crap episodes" this show would be on top now.
Looks like they are cleaning out a couple of characters that pulled away from the main story line.

I wonder if the future glimpses of what is going on with John and Cameron will be in the movie this summer?

Or could it be that John has been led astray by the metals? Maybe Jess has seen the "big picture"?

And John seems to be getting a little weary, or maybe sympathizing with the bots?

My message to the writers: keep on the line.

If I remember correctly, the upcoming movie is pretending like the tv show doesn't exist and is only expanding on whats been told in the previous movies.

I wonder if the future glimpses of what is going on with John and Cameron will be in the movie this summer?
If I remember correctly, the upcoming movie is pretending like the tv show doesn't exist and is only expanding on whats been told in the previous movies.
I may be wrong, but I thought it was if the 3rd movie didn't happen because of the series?  I gotta admit that the 3rd movie didn't happen for me anyway....  >:D

This latest episode, simply put, was AWESOME!!! Truly an example of what an hour of quality TV should be. It had a cinematic quality to it that has been lacking in many episodes this year.

****POSSIBLE SPOILER****

When Jesse was sitting in the hotel chair between the two end tables, she adjusted one of the lamps on the tables after comparing it (visually) to the other lamp.

Is she metal?
