I am so not impressed with the show so far... maybe I just can't see passed the 4 foot 7 inch Terminator.

What, they are going to send a grown man/female to keep an eye on the boy while he goes through high school?

Maybe she looks more convincing when she is a bit taller (ie wears some heels)?

Besides she looks pretty hot as a Terminatrix:

or as a human:

Ratings are REALLY bad for this season - Only 5 million or so viewers according to Nielsen. The rumor mill is reporting terminator will be canceled sooner than later. I think a big part of the problem is that there is simply way too much competition on Monday night. Terminator is one of those 'Tivo' shows, that Nielsen screws over royally.

Anyways, just wanted to give the heads up to not be surprised when the season gets cut short.

It's not half as good as last season anyway... I'm considering giving up on it.  I have only watched the first two episodes so far but they really didn't make a whole lot of sense.

You mean you can't understand why Skynet would waste a T-1000 on a corporate level 'sit in the office' mission?  ;)

At least watch the 3rd episode. It is pretty neat and deals with the terminator guy from last year. The girlfriend thing is annoying, and it is PAINFULLY obvious who she is and where she came from. I haven't watched the newest ep yet, but figure the girlfriend story will be addressed.

Actually it was more along the lines of why the blonde is always eating if she's not talking.  Apparently that's how TV portrays fat chicks now.

I hit fast forward through most of this week's episode.  I watched the part about the FBI agent and the morphing terminator.  The rest was just boring.  Maybe I should have paid more attention.   :dunno

I liked Blade: The Series more than this season of Sarah Conner...  Too bad  it got canceled last year.  It wasn't great but I thought it was good.

She's pregnant.  Very.  They eat a lot.  You've got two kids, didn't your wife get voracious?

Not  a Summer Glau fan, eh?  I'd watch a show about her doing nothing but reading a book.

As I've alluded to before, there is a reason you guys are confusing the pregnant girl and the teenager.

I am still liking the show, even though it does seem to be taking some wild twists.
Looks like the Summer Bot is losing her mind.. but I like the future flashes.
Not sure where they are going with the office bot.
I hope it doesnt get canceled yet.

We didn't dig the newest episode. It was all over the place and kind of boring. Summer did a great job, but the story was crap.

Last nights episode was pretty good. I dont know about the Dodge commercial method though. I noticed right off that they were showing the features of the Dodge Truck right in the show. There were a lot of useless angle shots of the truck while they were driving.
Also reese pointed out the neat GPS system.. but come on, wheres the robot murders?
Also, did I miss an episode, or did they not elaborate on the Summer Bot flipping out on the last episode?

They didn't elaborate, because Cameron wasn't the focus of the show.

Besides...she's "better" now.

I watched one episode of Fringe. I didnt like it.
That blond FBI agent looks like she is in constant pain or something.
But other than that, I just didnt like the story line..

The FBI guy/T-1000 story is bad writing. I sure hope they are gonna go somewhere with that - and soon.

Another hanging plot point that has not been addressed is Cameron's habit of secretly hoarding parts and materials of terminators.

I thought this episode was a lot better than the others this season.  They aren't doing much of a job with staying serial - the episodes don't really flow one to the next - but I do like the strong attention they are paying to characterization.  They have put a lot of effort into defining the characters of John, Sarah, and (the uncle whose name I forget).  They even managed to give Cameron a personality without compromising the fact that she's a machine.  You don't see characters like that very often on TV anymore.  The plot may not be great but I like the people.

The show has officially been confirmed for the entire season

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117994273.html?categoryid=14&cs=1

"Fox has just given a full-season order to “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.” Cast and crew were informed of the decision late Friday.

Back-nine order was far from certain; show has been struggling in its Monday night timeslot. But “Sarah Connor” has developed a fan base and some positive critical attention along the way."

Was that ep6?  I saw it last night.  Seems to be gearing up for a slow developing plotline, which can be good, but only if we ever actually see the later stuff.

I think it was 6. I've missed a couple though.  And I agree about the slowly developing plot.   :)

John working with the family psych. was good though.

Haven't watched the new ep yet. I'm not a fan of the way things are slowly developing. I think they need to re-evaluate their direction. I doubt the show will be back next season, so they should probably wrap things up with the time they have.

I would be completely happy if Fox told the creators that they gave them the whole season to complete the story since they don't have anything else for the timeslot, but that would be it (unless the show doubles in ratings).

It would be a win-win for everyone. The story quality would get better, there wouldn't be any filler, and we would get a definite resolution to the story, or maybe even a good lead-in to the movie. Maybe even a cameo or two for the films.  ;D

After seeing what they did with Jericho when given 7 definitive episodes to complete the story, and the way Lost has picked up with an end date, I think this would be a great idea.

I only saw the first episode of the second season a few days ago (we're about a month behind in the UK) so I've had to be very careful to avoid reading spoilers in this thread.

But skimming through, I've noticed a lot of negative comments. That surprises me because I thought the new series got off to a cracking start. Based on the first episode, it has the potential to even surpass the first series (which was the best thing to appear on TV for some time). And Summer Glau is as hot as ever (even when she turns bad).

Maybe thing will go downhill from now on but still.

Saw the latest episode over the weekend. ::YAWN::

It had some interesting ideas, but I really don't care about the stories they are focusing on. I've kind of lost interest in this show, and even started to nod off near the end. The wife still thinks it is great, but I could quit watching it now and not feel like I was missing out.

I meant to post about last night's show but forgot.

I liked it also.  I thought the first scene with former FBI agent Ellison was great (opening scene).  It really got me interested in the episode like I hadn't been for a while.

Not trying to be cryptic, but I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't watched it yet.

We watched the last 2 episodes last night. Both were very good! I DO NOT like Derek's girlfriend though.  I really don't understand what is going on with her. There is still way too much water treading going on too - Derek's GF, the T1000, Ellison. Sure Ellison got involved the last 2 weeks, but now he's going back to cruise control mode.

Either way, this show grabbed me back from the brink of not caring to watch. Hopefully they can keep me interested.

My wife was thinking it was more along the lines of the human version of Cameron being John's lover. It kind of makes sense because of that episode where Cameron went crazy- so Cameron would have the memories of her human template. However after thinking about it, the human girl was only supposed to be a teenager. Either way - John Conner is a freak.

I get the feeling john and the she bot will do the nasty.
When she went nuts, remember she said that she loved him, and he loved her.
But then again, the real girl that the she bot is mimicking might have been johns lover in the future.

I cant wait to see the new movie next year.
I heard it was going to be the first in a new trilogy.

Yes, you are right.
But the time line may have been changed so he never meets his wife in that episode.
But yet, the she bot came from the future before the time line could have been changed, so you may have a valid point. (I have got myself confused again!)
Also, Sarah died of cancer before the ROTM, but she doesnt have it on this series.
She knows she was supposed to have it, but something changed it.
They havent fully explained that yet, unless I missed it.

I think she does have it, but they jumped several years into the future, so it hasn't showed itself yet.  She has something like 5 years left to live.

The producers of the show, and the producers of the new movies have publicly disowned the 3rd movie. Disregard anything from that movie, as it is not applicable.

I have mixed feelings about that.

I liked the third movie and thought it had some interesting story lines.

If Sarah is in the new movie, any chance the original Sarah will play her?

I liked T3 the first time I saw it. We rewatched it again over the summer, and it was not very good on the 2nd viewing. Arnie's performance is what made the movie suck. Other than him, I liked it.

God, now that I try, I can't even remember if I even saw the damn movie.  That doesn't speak well of how good it is.

I remember nearly everything about the Terminator show at Universal Studios, though.  That was awesome.

Transformers was a huge commercial hit.

TOTAL LIFETIME GROSSES
Domestic:     $319,246,193       45.1%
+ Foreign:     $389,026,388       54.9%
= Worldwide:     $708,272,581

Budget: $150,000,000

That doesn't even mention the ridiculously good merchandise sales.

But not the near billion dollar cultural event they were banking on.  They talked about that movie like it would be the start of a Harry Potter level franchise.  It didn't even come close enough to be worth ripping out a high quality attraction for a better franchise.

Sigh.

So they didn't kill the current Fisher because he might not become a traitor since he knows now.  Then they go and toss him in an insanity ward (solitary confinement) thereby completing the part where he survives judgment day.  Maybe he becomes bitter towards humans and decides to do what he did.  This time he remembers Reese and kills him or something in the future thereby messing with the timeline again not to mention if he goes back in time again like his now dead self to implement that back door program.

That FBI agent is a jerkoff.

The show is definitely getting better.
Reese was going to kill the younger Fisher, but the girl killed the old one first.
I still think not all is kosher with Reeses GF.
Remember, she also had photos of Sarah Conner in a past episode.
Speaking of photos, why does Ellison have the photo of Sarah and the dog, the one that supposedly got burned up in the very first movie?

He did spend a whole lot of time tracking and investigating her as an FBI agent.  Dudes like that have a hard time letting go of their cases.

Or maybe she is pregnant and the baby will be half black.   :laugh2:

I had a brain gas bubble. The picture got burned in the future, so Ellison could very well have it now.
Never mind..

I had to work last night, and I forgot to set the DVD recorder, so I didnt see that episode.
Did I miss anything good?

Meant to post this before you, dammit!  Need to remember sooner next time.   :)

I liked it.  The end was really good.  I missed bits and pieces so I'd like to watch it from the beginning when it's quiet so I can get everything.

The end was a big WHOA scene.

I thought it was a very good episode and they finally explained what some of the secondary characters have to do with the overall plot of the show.  If you're interested in the overarching plots, then it was a "can't miss" type of episode.

I agree.  I did miss a couple episodes earlier this year so I'm not sure what we're supposed to know but I was very surprised when two females ended up having a moment (not that way!).

Not to spoil it for DaOld Man though...

I just watched the episode on fox.com.
Fantastic!
This show just keeps getting better.

On the original show, were the commercials short like they are on fox.com? If so, I think I will start watching all the episodes on the net.

watching on the net is better...
you only get 1 commercial....
and for nbc shows.... you can download the HD version too....

(well... I don't have a big flat clear new LCD with digital reception yet...)

so, watching thru the net is better quality for me...

I really liked this episode. Definitely a stand-alone ep, but very entertaining. I have a new theory as to why Cameron is 'harvesting' parts.

First off, a few episodes back they commented that a Terminator they took out had a 'hack proof' chip. This would signify that in the future the terminators also have hack proof chips. So, how does John get more robots to work on his side in the war if he can no longer reprogram the robots?

Simple: Send Cameron back with a side mission of securing as many good chips and repair materials that she can. Then when she catches back up to the future, she can hand it all over to John.

There is only one flaw with this theory: Why not just tell past John and Sarah about that mission? The answer is simple: Future John told her not to! They would probably just disagree anyways because they are hardcore on the 'destroy everything' policy. Remember the central conflict in T2? End of Story.

I really liked all of the slow walking away ass shots of Summer Glau this week.  The storyline was meh but they got a lot of the right shots of her from the right angles.   ;D

Again, I have to wonder why the first part of the season wasn't as well written as the last 4 or 5 episodes.  This week's was as good as anything in the series so far.  Much better than most other shows on television.

I really like the way the show is branching off into other plots.
But I suppose it's the only way they can keep in floating, I mean you can only do so much with one plot line.

It's branching but not progressing anything in any way.  It just keeps branching.  They haven't found anything or done anything of note.  They just keep running around in circles with no obvious reasoning.  I mean why was the terminator chick in the library to begin with?  She didn't go there looking for that other terminator, she just noticed him in a photo while there.

I think she was there looking for Terminators. She appears to have a database full of all the other terminators sent back. This supports my theory of her hoarding parts/chips.

It's possible but better direction would have actually told us that somehow.  Like a phonecall with Sarah or something.

Maybe not all those notes on the wall are meant for everyone to understand. Sarah is obsessed with the dots, but as we were kind of indirectly told, the 3 dots was really meant for Cameron.

I also haven't seen Monday's ep yet. So I can't comment on anything that happened in it.

It would be nice if they made an effort for the viewers to understand.  That's my main problem.  When there are less shots of the Terminator chick walking away the show is a lot less entertaining for me.  I don't like stuff that lacks reasonable explanation.

Monday's ep didn't connect in any way with the library ep.

So ummm... when do we get to see Cameron use her anatomically correct skillz to extract some information from someone.

It would serve 2 purposes:
1. It would add some tension between her and John - kind of like she 'cheated' on him.
2. We would get to see some side boobage on Summer.

It's a win/win!!  :laugh2:

Definitely true.  This show, unlike most "normal" shows, takes leaps in the plot that leave a lot of unanswered questions.  Battlestar did that fairly well (at least initially).  I think the juries still out on how they are going to fill in the holes.  The story lines are intriguing but I always feel like I missed an episode even though I haven't....

So the first "half" of the season is over.  Definitely had it's ups and downs.  I thought last nights show was ok but not as good as the last few weeks.

The previews for the second half starting in February seemed to show that they are moving things in a different direction.

Okay no spoilers or anything, but about the fall finale......WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the show and all, but it's like the writers are trying to intentionally run off casual viewers. Its approaching a LOST level of confusion and bloat. Sorry, but you can't grow your audience by airing shows that don't make sense to even dedicated viewers.

Friday night means it's on it's last legs before they pull the plug.  Hopefully, they don't though.  I thought the last few episodes before the hiatus were the best of the season. Friday's was ok but not great.

DVRd Dollhouse.  Haven't taken time to watch it though.  Anyone?

I was hoping they would get some of Battlestar Galacticas viewers since that is also on Friday night, but it doesn't look like thats happening.

Dollhouse seems like it could be a good show.  They've laid some good groundwork and now it's just a matter of seeing where they take it.

I wish Fox would have went ahead and told the terminator writers they won't be getting renewed. That way we could at least get some nagging storylines wrapped up.

Oh, and the last episode made no f'ing sense whatsoever at the end.

I don't like that House almost always has Dr House have his sudden fit of inspiration because of something that his friend says.  That drives me crazy.

This last episode was good though...kid was sick because the doctors MADE him sick.

I will say I love Terminator, and will miss it quite a bit.

I think the problem with the movie is that everyone expects it to be an action movie, every episode.  You just can't do that with TV.

I have never watched Heroes so I'll take your word for it.  I pretty much only watch NFL on the major networks other than this show.  If the next episode isn't better I'll cancel it from my Tivo whether Fox cancels it or not.

This show needs to finish a plot line before starting another.
Example: They havent tied up whats going on with reese's girlfriend and the blond and they throw a new robot ship (?) on us in last weeks episode.
And what about the Summer Bot turning evil? I didnt see a closure to that line, maybe I missed it?
Also, whats up with the red headed terminator and the John Henry one?
Come on writers, finish what you started before jumping into another twist!

I still like the show, and I will watch it tonight, but it wont surprise me if they cancel it any day now.

Incidentally, what episode are you guys up to now?

In the UK they've just showed the one where Sarah Connor gets shot and sees what appears to be a UFO (or maybe she was just hallucinating). From the comments I've just read, I'm getting the impression that episodes in the UK and US are now being shown concurrently.

Fridays episode was the episode right after that one.

Yes, that part, however so brief (no pun intended), was very eye opening.

I dont want to spoil it for you guys who havent seen it yet, but I just dont understand how Sarah wound up where she was..

Too many loose ends...
But it seems this has been this shows trade mark.

I haven't watched the new ep yet, but from what I am reading maybe I should just skip it.

Anyways, it is good to hear that the show will pick up for the rest of the season. Just like Knight Rider, this show should have never pretended to be something it isn't. If everyone expects it to be a 'terminator of the week' big explosions show, they DAMN WELL better deliver to keep all the casual fans happy. In the mean time, they can weave in long term ideas and character development. In season 1, the show accomplished that, and is why I liked it. They have gotten away from that this year, and it has been a snoozefest.

Like I said, I hope these next 6 live up to my newly heightened expectations.

If these next episodes turn out to be flops they need to fire the writers and hire new ones.

When that happens those writers are usually for a different show.  This show looks like it would be great on cable but isn't all that good for network.

Cable has awesome character driven, well written shows. The mere fact that AMC of all channels can produce a show that spanks the networks ass in awards shows EXACTLY what the networks are doing wrong. You have to remember that Mad Men was passed on by the big boys in favor of reality shows and crime dramas. Not to mention they have Breaking Bad too.

USA also has awesome shows. These stations have smaller budgets, and smaller ratings expectations. They can't rely on big budget, big name, and big network - all to push off a ---smurfy--- show on the unsuspecting public.

And yes, I am still pissed that Firefly and Jericho were not picked up by a cable network. Both shows were PERFECT for the cable network formula.

That's what I'm saying - cable stations can afford patience because they don't flip out if a show only has a couple million viewers.  They don't have to rely on the lowest common denominator viewers like networks do.

But I just watched it on fox.com.
I must say it was extremely better!
Now if they can keep it up, maybe this show wont fall off the list..

True.  And John seemed to get quite distracted by her lack of clothes in the last episode.

I saw another episode a couple of days ago. However Summer Glau remained fully clothed throughout. So I'm guessing that we must actually be two episodes behind.

Anyway despite that disappointment it was pretty good. The sequence where Catherine Weaver goes through the warehouse casually killing everyone was particularly well done and wouldn't have looked out of place in one of the movies. I'm glad that we finally have a terminator who can genuinely kick ass. Up until now the terminators have been far too easy to kill and that's drained the series of a lot of tension.

Cable has awesome character driven, well written shows.

I think you've hit the nail on the head regarding one of the main flaws of The Sarah Connor Chronicles - most episodes tend to be plot rather than character driven. Characters have an irritating tendency to behave inconsistently and/or incredibly stupidly just to drive that week's plot forward.

It's a shame because, in other respects, the characters actually have quite a bit of depth. It's interesting that most of them seem to have hidden agendas which are gradually being revealed.

I have to agree that episode 17 was a lot better than the previous 2 (or 3?). They seem to have picked up where they left off before Sarah went schizo. An easy (but big) improvement was to have Sarah herself not so much in it.

I haven't watched the 2 newest eps.

Anyways, even though this last ep is 'supposed' to be better, the ratings numbers show that viewership dropped 14% to below 3 million. There is officially no way in hell this show will get a pickup. Thank you writers for KILLING your own show with a string of royally ---smurfy--- episodes!

I didn't think #16 was too bad. It just pissed me off that it made zero sense - well it made sense, but it was stupid. Very poorly handled by the writers.

The newest was pretty good. In all honesty, the show runners would have been better off just deleting the last 6 or so episodes and went right to this one.

I'm not sure how to process "it wasn't too bad but it made zero sense, was stupid, and was poorly handled."  Don't those things make it bad?

I watched 17 last night.  It was better but at this point I've stopped caring about any of the chars so it's too late.  I was happy to see something bad happen to one of them out of sheer boredom with the show.

I can't say it was entirely bad, because I was somewhat entertained, and it was a far deal more exciting than the past 4-5 eps. I guess I just felt robbed in the end because the whole episode was completely meaningless.

I agree on not caring about the characters. I guess I wasn't the only one who uttered a "Thank goodness!". I did like the outcome of that plotline. Interesting twist that I can't say I saw coming.

I agree with Shardian. Episode 16 wasn't that bad, it just had no apparent relation to the series. Or was that episode 15? Probably both. The factory episode and the sleep "kidnap" were both kinda like loose sand.

Loose sand that sucks.  I still can't figure out how she got shot and almost died and then didn't even have a limp.  What, did they pause for 9 months while she healed and rehabbed before going back to the factory?

My favorite part of the string of crappy episodes?

They wasted money paying Cameron and Derek Reese. For all the standing around looking serious they had them doing, they might as well just set up cardboard cutouts.

And while I appreciated it, what was up with the gratuitous underwear shot? I felt like I was watching Showtime on Saturday night. Of course, this show was starting to have the writing quality of one of those crappy softcore movies so its not too out of place I guess.

I agree with most of the comments in this thread.

I still have a soft spot for the series despite its flaws. However, episode 15 (which I saw a couple of days ago) sorely tested my loyalty.

Until the last five minutes nothing of any substance happened. The director made a valiant effort to paper over the cracks by repeatedly showing flashbacks to the previous episode (which was quite eventful) but he didn’t really get away with it.

The writers really need to raise their game and time is running out. I’ll be extremely disappointed if a third series is not commissioned but we get to the end of series two without all of the loose ends having been tied up. The series deserves better than that.

Ok, last nights episode was pretty dang good, I thought.
If the writers had displayed this sort of writing in the "crap episodes" this show would be on top now.
Looks like they are cleaning out a couple of characters that pulled away from the main story line.

I wonder if the future glimpses of what is going on with John and Cameron will be in the movie this summer?

Or could it be that John has been led astray by the metals? Maybe Jess has seen the "big picture"?

And John seems to be getting a little weary, or maybe sympathizing with the bots?

My message to the writers: keep on the line.

If I remember correctly, the upcoming movie is pretending like the tv show doesn't exist and is only expanding on whats been told in the previous movies.

This latest episode, simply put, was AWESOME!!! Truly an example of what an hour of quality TV should be. It had a cinematic quality to it that has been lacking in many episodes this year.

****POSSIBLE SPOILER****

When Jesse was sitting in the hotel chair between the two end tables, she adjusted one of the lamps on the tables after comparing it (visually) to the other lamp.

Is she metal?

No, she's definitely not. I think she had something stored in that lamp.

I agree, she is not, but the maid touched the lamp too, so there is definitely something going on there. Maybe the next episode will tell??

Ep19 was better... but I'm pretty much hoping for a mercy killing of the show now.  I was hoping it would take a turn towards making sense and instead it turned towards flashier editing.

Good show tonight.
I was worried there for a bit, kinda looked like it was slumping like it did during the crapisodes.
But it was pulled together pretty good about half way through, and are we seeing the birth of skynet?

Tonight was the first time I have ever watched the show live. Was pretty darn good yet again. For the preview for next week, the announcer guy said "Only 2 more episodes left". He didn't say "in the season" or "in the series", but it did strike me odd that it was left ambiguous. Makes me think they were intentionally phrasing it to be a series finale.

I've avoided reading the newest posts in this thread to avoid any spoilers. So this will be old news to most of you.

Anyway, FWIW after a long run of poor to mediocre episodes, I saw episode 17 a few days ago and thought it was truly excellent. When this series is good it's very good indeed.

I just hope the writers can maintain the standard and give the series the send off it deserves. Of course a third series would be even better but realistically that seems unlikely at this point.

About last nights episode:

Wow!

It does look like they are bringing the series to a close, and if they are, I would rather see it end purposely than to just cut off.

after ep 21 I have 2 things to comment on

first:
"It’s possible heaven has a hardware problem" lol

second:
"Mr. Ellison, you're asking me to keep a secret.  You tell me it's wrong to lie, yet you keep doing it."
"I know what I say john henry, but in this case a lie might save someone."
"How"
"Our best chance to get Savanah back is for me to handle this, quietly.  You understand?"

my immediate thoughts go to "no no no no no, you do not tell a computer to lie, bad things happen when you tell a computer to lie, sometimes trippy things"
now, who knows what happens when you tell a computer to lie? anyone? now, who here has seen 2001, and 2010? I can't be the only one who thought of this.

This last episode makes me wonder if the liquid terminator (Savanah's "mother") is the same liquid terminator from the submarine episode who changed it's mind about helping humanity sometime after we saw it say "No".

The Eel story summed up the T1000 pretty well.

And as for that unexpected shocker scene ( no spoilers from me!)...HOLY ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---!!!! That came so far out of right field that security had to tackle that sum' ---smurfette--- for tresspassing! I can't believe they did it like that, but I guess that sums up the fight against skynet. I'm not so sure they handled the emotional aftermath too well though.

Now it feels like they were told they weren't going to be picked up and had to wrap everything up in 4 episodes.  So every episode someone major is going bye bye and there are no storyline points being addressed.  Now that we may be 1 ep away from the end I fully expect Bruce Willis to show up riding a killer asteroid.

WOW! Hell of a way to end a show! ...If it is indeed over.

I can't wait on you foreigners to discuss this, so....

STOP READING NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FINALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went thru two thoughts about what they intended with the way it ended. At first, I thought this was yet another of the future multi-verses in which John Connor never was the leader. Thus, John could just be himself and not worry about being 'the leader'.
Then, it became obvious what was happening - a self-fulfilling prophesy. First off, what better way to protect the leader from anymore hit attempts than to just send him to the future. He is obviously ready to lead, as was shown in the excellent ep where we tied up the Riley story. Of course no one would know John - he magically disappeared in 2009. He now has an incredible knowledge bank of the future thanks to Skynet and their repeated attempts to stop him at an early age. It also makes sense why people would 'worship him' in the future: He knows so damn much!

In short - a HELL of a way to wrap the series...that is...if it is indeed done.

The ending was pretty weird.  Isn't having John jump into the future pretty much the same as having him killed?  He wouldn't be around to lead the revolution.  I'm suprised that everything kind of went on without him.  Kinda downplays his importance in the whole thing after all.

******************* Spoiler warning!!!!! ******************

If you remember in the first Terminator movie, Kyle told Sarah that mankind was almost lost until John Conner brought them together.

In the series, John appears in the future. We dont know if the humans are almost beat or not. They dont know JC, but with all the knowledge he has, it might be what is needed to turn the war around. Perhaps he gives them a renewed hope and spirit.

John is now at a stage where:
Kyle has not yet traveled back in time.
Also the human Cameron has not been killed and replaced by the terminator yet. (Notice how she is petting the dog, proving she is human.)
I dont know the role of the liquid terminator or John Henry.
Possible double spolier warning:
Perhaps the robots and the humans make peace.

I wonder how the movie this summer will affect the way the series is going? (Or vice versa).
They showed some pretty cool clips on the last SCC episode.

My thoughts:

I didn't get a chance to watch it until tonight so I was anxious to see how they wrapped things up.  I'm surprised that no one mentioned Katherine (Catherine?) being a good guy/woman.  There was one particular episode where she either did or said something that made me wonder if she wasn't a bad terminator.  I don't recall now what it was and obviously, I never mentioned it here so I can't take any credit for it.  No big deal...

Where did Mrs. Weaver go at the end of the episode?  John turned around and she was gone.  I understand she probably walked/slithered away but still curious.

Why didn't Cameron make it through?  Because she wasn't totally covered in skin?  What will Sarah and James Ellison do now?

And who's building Skyenet?  Who built and sent the ship that attacked them in Weaver's office?  I think those types of questions lead into next season (!).

I'm going to be irritated if they don't bring it back.  I absolutely despise getting into a series only to have it canceled.  I rarely watch a series before it's third or fourth season for this very reason.

Overall, I'd rate the series 3 out of 4 stars.

SPOILER DISCUSSION: STEER CLEAR IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE FINALE:

1. They have made it quite obvious that Weaver was good for several episodes now. The eel story was the dead giveaway.

2. No Clue. Probably to find John Henry.

3. This goes back to the start of the series when we had the debate about cromartie's head going thru. There are huge holes when it comes to the time travel device. It's one of those things you just have to 'accept' to better enjoy the story.

4. Why, go get the Weaver girl from daycare right? ;) I have no clue, but we couldn't have the show called "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" if they didn't have a plan for her.

5. I think there was a blatant reason why the FBI guy mentioned Bobby Dyson to Sarah - which is probably where her and Ellison's story would go. He has something directly to do with the Skynet like computer trying to kill John Henry and running things. He's probably the new 'boss'.

6. This is a problem that the networks fail to realize is their own doing. They expect shows to be 20 million viewer explosions from day one. Historically, this is NOT the case.  Why would anyone watch a show that they had the slightest inkling would just be canceled? It's a catch 22 that I hope they come up with a reasonable solution for. There IS a solution, but the big networks refuse to acknowledge it. What happens when a baseball player under performs? He goes back to the minor leagues. As such, a show that performs decently on a network with a solid core audience should be transferred to a cable network. I have a strong feeling that Chuck will go this route - maybe even Terminator. It SHOULD have happened with Firefly, Jericho, Wonderfalls, etc, etc. Imagine the CW gaining a show with an almost guaranteed 3-6 million viewers! Their network only averages like 1 million! Friday Night Lights is a show that is kind of going this direction - with the shared partnership between DirectTV and NBC. It been quite a success...but I don't watch that show.

I thought it made perfect sense to send John to the future. Why struggle around for decades waiting for the inevitable when you can simply time travel there.

BTW Why did the girl terminator say that she didn't understand the "Will you join us" question?

She was lying. Young John was on a need to know basis - and he didn't need to know.

Do you think she was the one who asked the question to begin with (to the eel on the Carter sub)? She seemed quite adamant not to have the answer given to John Connor directly, but on the other hand, the eel wanted to answer to John Connor.

I think John Connor was dead, and had been dead for a while. In every flash-forward on the show, it was always blatantly stated that noone ever saw John Connor. They always stated that they went through his advisors or Cameron. It was widely speculated that the "Will you join us" T-1000 was going to be used to imitate John.

I think you may be right.
In the last episode, Cameron told John that she still has the original terminator program in her memory, and that it could surface and she could kill him someday.

Sharidan is talking about John being dead in the episode about the submarine. Cameron was very adamant about passing all info to John, and Jessie said no one had seen John for a long time.
John came to the future at a point long before the submarine episode.

I think Cameron might have killed him, and perhaps she is an impostor, and she wanted the metal bot to join her "revolution"?
Remember, Cameron was a human, she was killed by the robot Cameron, and replaced.
It was hinted that Cameron could have been Johns woman. Maybe the she-bot Cameron killed John and took over the human resistance in his place?

You know, if machines really did become self-aware, they would probably split into different groups, and most likely even war with each other, just like humans have.
The big difference is that what takes man several thousands of years to get to a warring point, it would take a super computer only a few milliseconds.

Mankind at this point is just a nuisance to the machines.

I think you guys are looking for things. It's probably just too cumbersome to hire an actor to appear 2 times in a season. Also, it would be rather confusing if we had two different John Connors in the show.

But then the show is indeed ridiculously far fetched at times. The pathetic fixation on the three dots is finally solved by seeing an arrangement of 3 leds on a computer? Absolutely absurd. As if the guy couldn't have simply written "Turk" to indicate that that chess machine was still working.

My take:

1.  I agree with a previous poster that transporting John into the future fits into the original description of John's leadership via Kyles conversation with Sarah in T1 - so no problems there.

2.  Cameron's "body" didnt go through because she didnt have a chip in her anymore.  I read that somewhere.......I think....

3.  Weaver is simply a 3rd faction of the war - a rogue group of machines with their own agenda.  This agenda is as of yet undetermined or at leaset unexplained.  She went into the future to track down her "son" John Henry.  However, it is interesting to note that in Terminator Salvation part of the trailer depicts a terminator who thinks he is human and semingly doesnt know it at first.  I dont believe there is supposed to be any direct tie in between the tv show and the new movie but just an interesting observation.

4.  Cameron did in fact I believe "join them" by giving her chip to John Henry.  Not sure why or what her end game is in doing so.

5.  By asking Cameron if she would "join them" Weaver is letting Cameron know that she is the T1000 from the sub (the sub incident is the "past" for both of them).  Cameron, prior to Ellison asking her this question, didnt know Weaver was metal.

6.  Sarah is simply left behind the past to ride out her fate.  I presume she doesnt have long to live due to her cancer.  If there is a season 3 I would bet her storyline is persuing Danny.

Not sure how accurate this information is but theres a ton of it.  Has some spoiler info on it too regarding the upcoming movie.  If you read some of the info on Terminator salvation it would appear they acknowledge T3 events.  However, it also appears they ackowledge some of the plot points of the TV series.......so again......not sure how accurate......

Clearly they are just making this ---Cleveland steamer--- up as they go.

I dont watch that show so I dont know what that comment means.

I was actually referring to the movie's continuity as compared to the TV show/T3.

They also had some shows in the series where it seemed like they were just pulling it out of their ass.

It sucks, but isn't entirely surprising. I fully blame the writers, who put out a string of about 6 episodes that sucked badly, and killed all of the show's momentum and casual fanbase. I cannot fault Fox for not supporting this show. They plastered the airwaves with advertisements, tied in the adverts with NFL games, etc, etc, etc. Fox could have canceled the show half-way thru the season quite easily. Instead, they granted the show a 2nd half pickup to finish the season.

The Friday move did kill the show, but Fox didn't really have a choice. It was really the only night of the week it could face weaker competition from the other networks. A friend of mine told me he didn't get to watch the last string of good eps due to this move.

Dollhouse was renewed, for a very interesting and unusual reason - the mysterious and unaired 13th episode. They were contractually obligated to make 13 episodes, so Joss Whedon and co. just whipped one together knowing in advance it would not air. They then used this episode as a proof of concept that they could make the show on the cheap.

Terminator went out on a high note, but it was an expensive and production heavy high note. Setting season 3 in a futuristic (expensive production) setting didn't help Terminator's cause.

Fox could have canceled the show half-way thru the season quite easily. Instead, they granted the show a 2nd half pickup to finish the season.

Actually I suspect that Fox's indecision might have been part of the problem. I get the impression that the writers wrote a story arc consisting of just 12 episodes, because that's what Fox originally promised them.

Then at the last minute Fox told them there'd actually be 22 episodes. But Fox didn't increase the show’s budget by a corresponding amount and didn't give the writers enough time to properly prepare new storylines.

That's obviously pure speculation on my part, but I just can't think of any other explanation for why the quality of the writing, and the size of each episode's budget varied so much throughout the series. Many of the episodes just didn't fit in with the overall story arc and felt like fillers cobbled together at the last minute, with limited resources.

Anyway, regardless of who's to blame, I'm really really disappointed by the cancellation. I loved the show despite the flaws. There were more than enough moments of brilliance to justify sitting through the odd mediocre episode.

The possible cancellation went so close to the 11th hour, that the carpentry crews on site and were drinking their morning coffee in prep of destroying sets. So yes, it played a small part. The writers had a brainstorming session to choose the scripts they would use, and in what order. All of those 'bad episode' scripts were already written and fully expected to be used. The writing staff fully acknowledged that they thought those episode scripts sucked too - that was in an interview I read at IGN back around the time they were advertising the final 6 episode string.

So take it as you like, but the writers still wrote a significant chunk of crappy episodes and put themselves in that position all on their own. They did not rush any scripts - they were already written.

Maybe. But isn't it common practice to ask the writers to come up with say 18 episodes and then just use the best 12?

If you're suddenly faced with having to produce another 10 episodes in a very short space of time then you've got no choice but to start revisiting previously rejected stories.

From Fox

[Sarah Connor] has completed its run. I think it had a nice little run. It was a good show. It was not an either or [with Dollhouse]. We did see it tailing off a bit [in the ratings]. It had a nice creative core, but, ultimately, we made the bet on Dollhouse, so that's it for [Sarah Connor]... We make no apologies. We gave it a lot of support and some consistent scheduling. We tried and thought it was time to move on.

I am saddened by this decision as it was really getting good.   I do not understand why they did not wait until the stats came in from Terminator Salvation which will probably boost the popularity of the series even more.

Maybe another network can pick it up. :'( :'( :'(
