Your restoration/enhancement project is looking great so far.

I like the enhanced art and the newsprint bezel.
Spent more time picking away at the more stubborn areas of vinyl this morning. Some of it came off easy in large chunks, but other areas are much much harder to clean off, especially the areas around the foot wells and coin doors so it's slow and no fun.
Ordered new pots for the controller today, figured I'd just go ahead and replace the old ones while I had everything in pieces. Speaking of the controller I'm starting to get pretty pissed at the plating shop right now, they have had the pieces going on 8 weeks and every time I call they say 'oh yeah, we are starting on them soon', the guy is totally dicking me around. I'm not in a rush to get the cab done, but there's just a point where things should be done and you start to feel they never will when you run into people like this.
The monitor boards are #5 in the ArcadeCup service line so that's cool, getting closer to finding out if they can fix them, fingers crossed for that.
But overall, lots of waiting and picking of vinyl pieces doesn't make for a very fun project at the moment.
Yikes; 8 weeks and still no turnaround? You might want to threaten to take your business elsewhere - maybe that will get their butts in gear! And if it doesn't, then I'm sure they aren't the only plating company in California that does nickel. Blowing you off like this is ridiculous. I mean, it'd be different if they outright said they were waiting for a large order to come through or something, but just saying "soon soon soon" isn't that great. Ok, there's a contract engineering and manufacturing show that will be having a California show in May. I know that's a ways off, BUT on their web site, they have a list of the companies that will be showing there. You can click the little plus sign by each company to get a brief description of what they do, and view their websites to find out which companies at the show are local to you. Here's the list for their Santa Clara show:
http://www.d2p.com/ExhibitingThey're also doing another California show in October in Pasadena, but it looks like their exhibitors list isn't functional yet.
Also, if you register for one of their shows (free), you can get a free Design 2 Part catalog, which is basically this huge directory of businesses in the engineering and manufacturing field and tons of companies use it as a way to promote themselves, so it's a relatively comprehensive directory. If you need, I can flip through my copy and try to find out what plating companies are in California. Or I can ask my boss if he knows what companies do plating out there (we're Georgia based so we're focused more on south-east companies, particularly Georgia, but he gets fliers, e-mails, and samples from all over).
I almost want to know who this flaky company is so we can avoid them in the future; we want a decent turnaround on our services, even if we have to outsource something....
