Nearly complete.

Wow, that looks great, Eric!

Yesterday, I had a former teacher/mentor bring his sons over to come and see my gameroom. The boys are 18 and 16 or so, and they played everything, but really gravitated towards the fighting games on my MAME cab. Good times.

I also picked up a non-working Ms. Pac board that I plan to switch back to Pac, then burn some eprom hacks for it. I need a missing daughtercard and I need to get the ROMs to switch it back to Pac-Man, but you can buy replacement daughtercards and I can do my ROMs.

Man that looks nice.  I totally need to do that.... after I finish my list.  So sometime in 2030.... I'm definitely doing that.

What the hell is all that green stuff around the patio?  and those tall, wood structures all over the place?  I think I've read about something like that...

SOOOOOOOOO jealous.

Don't be Jealous of that.  We've got a lot of property and those "tree" things.  It takes me three days to cut and trim it (when I'm able, thankfully I'm much better now) then my allergies turn me into the walking dead for a day or two... a day or two to rest, and then you start all over again the next week.

I've gotta take pics of what I did today and post them... not sure if my chuff points have increased, but +100 hillbilly for me.  I decided to make a door for the shed (the tarp IS waterproof in case anyone was in suspense).  Now I could have used some good lumber to make it, but that's no fun.  So I made it out of my scraps and spare screws... ALL of my scraps and spare screws.  This is some Sanford and Son/ Oscar the Grouch engineering.  It looks terrible.  You know a normal person would put some sheathing on it or something or paint it with thick paint and try to cover it up.....  so I think I'm going to use up all my scrap paint and stain and do each piece of wood a separate color.  ;)

Ok, so my shipment of EPROMs came in, and I wasted no time burning the romset for NBA Maximum Hangtime.  I was kind of mad, as they shoved 20 EPROMs into a sandwich baggie and then into small box. One EPROM was damaged,  but the rest OK. I burned all 26 EPROMs in between painting our home gym,  so it took a bit of time but the burning itself actually went fast. I carefully pulled the UMK3 EPROMs and set them aside, then loaded the newly burned NBA Maximum Hangtime Romset in place. Fired it up... success!

Nice!  And congrats on your success!  I forgot to ask though:  Do you have a UV eraser too?

As for me, I haven't had much time to work on my Total Carnage "updated" CP. I did manage to trace and cut a new piece of the wood underneath using the old one as a template though. I haven't drilled anything yet.

Instead I got sidetracked with replacing my rotors and brake pads. I only did the front ones today but will finish up the rear ones tomorrow depending on the weather. That's me on the left and my neighbor watching in awe...  LOL.

Gotta paint those calipers.. cross drilled and slotted rotors with dirty and ugly calipers is like lipstick on a pig....  Then again, cross drilled and slotted rotors with single piston calipers, even painted, are pretty much lipstick on a pig, lol.   >:D

Even so, I dig it.   :applaud:

Yeah. I am planning to order the G2 paint kit soon. I'm going to go all out and sand the calipers down first and then apply the paint. I need to design a custom decal too. I plan on painting them red with white lettering. It should look badass with the stock SLS rims.

Yeah that will look nice.  I was surprised how much time it took to paint mine, but it was worth it in the end.  I used a brush on epoxy paint that was a pain to do but the results were fantastic.

Unfortunately the only "after" pic I can find was taken at night so it isn't a great comparison, but it made a nice difference.  I never got further before having to sell the car and all my money at that point was in the supercharger, suspension, and engine dress.

When I got the Porsche a couple years later, the clear coat on the Porsche Brembo calipers had flaked off and the red paint had oxidized, so I had plans to clean them up nice and use the V2 paint on those, but I ended up selling that the next spring so I could help my son.  Now I only work on my 86 Nissan Hardbody 4x4.  A couple months back I did all the front suspension (new bushings, re-indexed the torsion bars, shocks etc.)  World of difference.  That old pickup now has a new engine with 7 year 100k mile warranty, the trans is only 4 years old, brakes are all good, all new front suspension, and all I have left is to do the rear bushings and find some new seats for it and it will be a good little pickup.  Of course I will drive it 4 times per year, lol.  It went from a $1500 truck to an $8000 truck, but that is a whole other story, lol.  When I did the front suspension I was SOOOOO tempted to get the 3" lift UCA's and blocks for the back and make it a mini monster truck, but I already have so much into it and need to save my money for my daughter for College (as well as the other projects I have planned around the house).  Maybe in a couple years, lol.

I do. All the EPROMs I've bought have been blank, but I've used it to erase some of the good ones I had from the Open Ice board.

Here are some shots of the progress:

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Roms relabeled, pulled and safely stored:

New NBA Maximum Hangtime ROMs burned:

Populated board with the new ROMs:

I waited nervously as it did the ROM check... each green indicator was a sigh of relief...

Very nice, yot!  Very interesting stuff. I was talking to my brother the other day and he happened to mention he had a rom burner and for a few years now. Why he failed to tell me, I don't know.  :whap  Hopefully, the rom burning project I got planned will be as awesome as I imagine it will be.

Yeah, I suppose so.

What I love about the burner is that it's pretty fast and foolproof. I have it set to ID the EPROM, then do a check to make sure that it's blank, then write the MAME rom to the chip, then verify everything was written correctly. I did 26 chips in one evening, and that was while painting a room.

I appreciate the offer but I'm just giving you the business.

That is some cool stuff you are doing with EPROM's.  Gives me something to aspire to.  I'm getting really, really bored with trying to configure front ends and mame.

Yeah, I love MAME like I still love my first girlfriend (we're still friends to this day), but I'm all about expanding my skillset.

And I'd be happy to look at it for you. Offer always stands. If you need EPROMS burned, too, lemme know.

That's a great analogy.  It isn't that I don't like MAME anymore but tweaking the software is a little too much like what I do all day at work.

I have a MAME setup that I can put in any cab. It works for me, it's like .146 or so and it plays everything I'd ever want to play. Why screw up a good thing? I even have the same setup working in both Hyperspin and AtomicFE, so I just need to choose my flavor. As long as it plays Galaga (regular or fast bullets), I'm golden.

But desoldering sockets and programming EPROMs? That's where sexy is at right now.

With recent events I think a better analogy would be that MAME is like a first girlfriend.... that got really fat..... and started prostituting herself.  ;)

With recent events I think a better analogy would be that MAME is like a first girlfriend.... that got really fat..... and started prostituting herself.  ;)

Well, I like big butts and I cannot lie

My summer plans include setting up my backyard for the kids to have a playset, start restoring a vintage speedboat I got for $200, and convincing my wife I need a 3d printer.

Wife convinced. :afro: 3D printer shipping to my house. Lots of random tinkering in my future.

Make sure you ventilate the fumes coming off that thing.

Yeah, my wife is overly sensitive to that stuff, so it might be a garage machine. I haven't seen firsthand how bad they get. I hear the PLA plastic is better than ABS for fumes, so i might try to use PLA for certain projects.

I have a friend who runs one in his house with no issues.

Sure, and leaded paint is fine until you start eating the chips.

I'm just stating what I know. I wouldn't stand there huffing fumes, but he hasn't done any special mods, either.  :dunno

Sweet, delicious, paint chips.  Memories.  :D

Vacation started yesterday, was actually supposed to start the day prior but shizzle happens and some work stuff took priority.  I bought one of these a while ago:

And am in the middle of tackling all the baby furniture - it's a huge set and I took it all apart so I could paint interiors and whatnot so it's taking forever (10+hrs sanding alone) but all that prep seems to be paying off and I have no idea how or why I ever painted anything without this little badass.  Totally chuffing, makes short work of the actual painting part.  Finish is amazeballs!  Less overspray than other breeds of sprayer, great with enamels, just stir in a bit of thinner and you're off to the races!

Of course with so many pieces to do I'm juggling dry times and available space so it will probably take me the rest of the weekend to get it all done but at least I don't have to worry about getting paint into all those damn nooks and crannies.  All future cabs will be painted with this and they will take ~3 minutes to paint.

Does it spray evenly, or does it splat the paint? I bought one years ago but was never happy with the spray. Of course, this was almost two decades ago, so I expect some improvement on the design.

I have that exact same one.  Works like a dream.  Even, no splats.  Just make sure you get the paint to the right consistency before you start.

I didn't even really do any practice with it, just enough to adjust the spray to the right pressure for my paint and then started getting after it.  No sags, no drips, so splats.  Just silky smooth finish.

I have heard latex is a ---smurfette--- with it, it's a dream with oils so far tho.

That's probably the issue- I was using latex.

I did both.  Oil based primer, followed up with latex final coat.  Came out really well.
