I am abandoning MALA for this build. You use an FE for years, come to understand the ins, outs, and limitations and when you decide to move on it's hard. This is a major departure for me but MALA isn't able to provide what I'm looking for in this build. I think the major killer for is the difficulty in handling animation. I've downloaded the trial of Maximus FE started playing with the layout designer. So far it looks like it can give me what I'm after with a bit of tweaking but I'll know for sure over this weekend.
My build focus at this time is to finish the software, then the CP. At that time R2Emu will be playable and I'll take another break from this build series to pursue some other builds. I have a few commissions on the horizon and a special project I've been tinkering with. I think I've got my head wrapped around the color scheme for the CP and it will be a nice balance of old and new elements with some visual pop.
R2 is looking a bit too pretty, how about giving him that 'been busy saving the galaxy' look
I've been toying with that but I'm worried about my skills at distressing. IMO it's one of the toughest things to do well in modeling. I'd rather a new looking R2 that is sharp than a distressed R2 that is amateur. I really want some blaster scorch marks and some sand staining but we'll see what I'm able to accomplish.
I definitely wouldn't do drink-holders on the CP with that opening for the fan on top.
What's next, the CP or back to the speeder bike?
That's a concern as it is a straight shot to some sensitive components. It's in consideration for sure and may require some mitigation to the internal structure of the dome. Good looking out tho!
