I bought this Wells Gardner D9800 new from XArcade about 3 months ago.  Has had no issues.  All the sudden I turned it on a few days ago and the lower half of the screen is all wacked out.  Please see pictures below.  After about 5 minutes, it went away.  The next time I turned on the monitor, it went away after about 20 minutes.  Now, its not going away at all.

Does anyone know what this is?  Why did this suddenly start?  The monitor shows this even when its not plugged into anything so its not the output from the videocard.  I've tried degaussing, no affect.

The "Read about Wells Gardner problems before you buy one" thread comes to mind but this is where I'm at now and I have to deal with it.

I'm wondering if XArcade has any type of warranty since its only 3 months old.

Any advice or help or things I can try, thanks in advance!

something wrong on vertical deflection-looks like the actual ic is faulty but it could be any component in the circuit

Thanks for the info but can you break that down for me?  What is ic?  What does something like this require to be fixed?

Also, does anyone know from experience what type of warranties these have, if any?  Its hardly been used so if its something major, I wonder what I might expect in the way of a replacement or repair, etc.

I bought my D9800 direct from Wellsgardner and I know it came with a 1 year warranty.  You might try contacting them directly.

Chassis Repair will run about 150
Plenty of places to choose from, I have good experience with Chad at http://www.arcadecup.com/
you must remove chassis so some action is required
First contact xarcade, you definitely should have 1 year warranty, I don't think they sell used parts, I think that they are just a distributor for WG.
Don't forget most credit cards have an additional 1 year protection if you charged it.

All I have to say is if it is remotely under warranty.... stick it to them.
Companies need held accountable for merchandise they sell.
What good is a warranty if no-one holds them to it ?

3 months old, hardly any use, home use only, yeah....

I bought the same monitor from Xgaming and you definitely have a 1 year warranty. Ask for Craig and you should not have any issues.

And have them pay for shipping both ways. If at all possible.

So Wells wrote back to XArcade and asks if I the customer knows how to remove the chassy neck board , and interface board off the monitor to send back for repair.

I know nothing of monitors really.  Is this hard to do?  Is removing those parts and sending them back an acceptable solution in your all's opinion?

Right now I'm waiting for directions on how to do this.

that is your only option, there are plenty of online guides to removing the monitor chassis-if you follow them and the safety guidlines then you will be fine

Start with this stickied thread (you only need to discharge and detach the chassis, the first video):

Thanks guys.  I just can't get over that this monitor, being 3 months old with less than probably 10 hours of actual used time, already needs parts repaired.  Terrible quality assurance or garbage parts or both?

Who knows really, I have had one running for about 13 months now with no problems.
Taking the chassis off is not that bad, just take your time, If you have access to the back of it you don't even need to pull the monitor out of the cab, but if you do have to remove it, get help and be careful. and never hold or pick up a monitor from the back always have the tube against your chest, I broke a tubes neck before, luckily it had alot of burn so no big loss.

Wells wants me to send back the entire monitor for repair and they want me to pay for shipping.  Can you believe this company??  Thankfully XArcade is kind enough to step in and is sending me a shipping label so I won't have to pay for shipping.  Craig told me he tried to work with Wells to get them to allow for an exchange where they could send me a new one and I return the old one but they refused.

Just thought I'd post the end result of all of this.  Just got back my replacement today.  Instead of repairing the broken one, they sent me a brand new D9810 this time, manufactured in June 2009.  So far so good.  I have a good feeling about this monitor.  Hopefully it lasts a long time.  Dealing with Craig from XGaming was a pleasure.  Hats off to this guy for getting things taken care of.

Was there any further cost to you?

Thankfully no.  Luckily for me I had saved the original box because if I had not, I surely would have incurred some expense is crating or packing the monitor up to be shipped back.  They were kind enough to have FedEx come to my house to pick up the huge box so really this whole process was pretty painless.  If anyone is buying a Wells, I would highly recommend keeping the box for the first year of ownership in the even you ever have to ship it back.

Dude, I've kept boxes for things for years. Partly cos it's easier to pack it when you move, but also cos some things I've had that are high dollar items (not many, but a couple/few maybe) have had life-time warranties.

Anyways, that's what I wanted to know, whether they paid shipping both ways. Good.
