Agree on the CL apps, a couple weeks ago I posted a large rack mount UPS and an older server for free (would have cost more in time and shipping to sell than they were worth, but hated to see them go to a recycling service too) and within minutes of the ad going live I had multiple emails. The first email would have taken it but he couldn't be here until 6 pm, and I needed it picked up before 5. The next guy was just what you would expect from someone who spends his days surfing the free ads and running around picking things up.. a bit creepy and probably wearing used underwear. But he responded fast and was there at exactly the time I asked him to show up. He had a few pieces of furniture in the back of his truck that I am sure he picked up earlier from other free ads. He also told me how his app on his phone alerted him to certain types of free items.
Bottom line, if you can't get there (to pay or just to pick up) right away, anything that is a good deal is going to be gone. Especially in bigger metro areas where there are hundreds of people ready to jump in an instant for a good deal.
And I can call myself closer to 40 than 50, but my girlfriend is upset that soon she will turn 47 and be "nearly 50".. I consider 70 to be "old", but 40's? No way, I feel like a kid still, except my body isn't feeling that way any more.. Considering the height of the arcade era was the early to mid 80's, and that most of us who played arcade games regularly did so as teenagers, it would be safe to assume the average age here is in the mid 40's.
