Look at them all, the good ones, the bad ones... see what you like and what you don't like... learn from our previous mistakes, and get inspired by innovations and preservation. Most important, decide exactly what it is you want your cabinet to do, and figure out how you will make it do it.

Given his latest *ahem* "build" thread here, you'd better be careful what you ask for.   >:D

This community isn't that big.  The membership is 90% spambots in a state of dormancy awaiting activation scripts from the fake watches and cheap drugs mothership.  Of the remaining 10%, 9% of those have either moved onto a different hobby or forgotten their passwords.  That leaves 1% of routine users to this site, of which 50% haven't build anything in years.

HOLD THE PHONE, I saw PBJ"s posts and finally the subject was being addressed.... Roms are FOREVER being called illegal, And interestedly enough Mame wont talk about roms (or where to get them) and when someone goes to where they are, The first Faq rule is NO Proxy/Vpn discussions, (This apparently is to track banned users) But regardless of that fact the user is left wide open to the sites download records and is vulnerable to honeypots and/or infringement... Unless someone can explain the How and whys, I have to say Mr. pinball was correct and was unfairly silenced.

From the BYOAC rules:
Quote
5. Nothing illegal! Do I even need to explain this one? Need a ROM to repair an arcade board you own? Fine to talk about. Need a ROM to complete your MAME collection? Don't bother to post here. If someone posts such a request, please don't answer it -- no direct answers, no hints, no private messages.

 6. Don't take it personally if you get edited by an admin or moderator. Things aren't always black and white and sometimes what is or isn't in line with the rules here is simply a judgement call. If your post gets edited but no other comment is made to you, don't stress about it. No one's mad at you or trying to censor your point of view. Just trying to keep it family friendly.
Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer and the following does not constitute legal advice.

There's a fine line between discussing the potential consequences of violating copyright law (totally legitimate topic of discussion) and giving someone advice on how to do so. (not accusing anyone of this -- just using it as an example)

If allowed to stand, that type of advice could open the site up to charges of enabling/contributing to violation of copyright law.

When in doubt, it is better to err on the safe side so Saint stays out of jail, he doesn't lose big bucks when some ambulance-chasing lawyer drags him into court, and the BYOAC forums don't go bye-bye.   :police:

No worries -- threads often get temporarily derailed by side conversations.

You are doing fine.

I look forward to seeing your build thread in Project Announcements.   ;D

It was about the how to be safe, directed @the OP, which makes it about this build, However, I will accept that answer PL1 and slip back into the cracks on that subject...As for the new wood, your one of us now, there is no turning back. >:D
