In all fairness I NEVER saw tokens used in video arcade games over here, so I dunno how many UK home builders now try to add this feature to their cabs?
I think this is due to the different attitudes regarding change in the UK/US. As far as i'm aware, in the US, there are only 2 or 3 coins in general use (25c, 5c, 1c) which means to make an amount like 69c, you need 2x25, 3x5, and 4x1 = 9 coins, whereas in the UK we have a full gamut of coins that are in constant use (£2,£1,50p,20p,10p,5p,2p,1p), and therefore feeding a machine with the right amount is considerably easier, and you end up with less change overall (69p = 1x50, 1x10, 1x5, 2x2 = 5 coins).
Of course, i may be talking rubbish!
