I'm supposed to be mowing. It's actually very nice out. I should be working....

The list looks great. I was thinking while I was typing them in that I wished you had asked for a top 10. We could have maybe got a bigger variety of games. Oh well, it's still pretty neat seeing all the games you do have.

I don't think there has ever been a top 25/50 BYOACer's list ???  :dunno

Did you do this in a spreadsheet?

Nope, that would have been way too efficient. I just pasted everything into a text file and used find to count how many of each, then delete as I went.

Wow, never saw that one.  :applaud:  Should be a way to integrate the two...

I still don't understood the love for Galaga. Don't get me wrong it's a classic for sure, just never appealed to me for some reason.

The old  original post is updated with the top 100, it would probably take quite a bit of work to list the other 220 though.

When I was a kid, I really liked Galaxian, and didn't care much for Galaga. Now it is reversed and Galaxian jut seems really slow and boring to me. Gyruss may be even better than Galaga, I haven't quite made a decision on those two yet.

No particular order:

Rastan
Rampart
Missile Command
Rodland
Cameltry

It's too hard picking only 5 games, next time my list might look completely different. :)

I'm actually surprised more people didn't have Gauntlet in their top 5.  For me, that game was incredible when it was released....

Camaltry is AWESOME!  I play it with my 360° steering wheel which works quite well.  I sometimes wonder what it would play like with an actual spinner...but then I would likely have to get one and the wife wouldn't like hearing about a CP rebuild  :laugh2:

1) Gauntlet/Gauntlet II (if of course you knew the trick to survive food starvation with 4 credits).
2) Street fighter 2 series (Super SF2 Turbo).
3) Probably Ms. Pac-man (since pacman is all about pattern memorization unless you don't follow patterns (impossible on 9th key+).

Of course, the problems on MAME with *all* of the unthrottled SF2 games still haven't been fixed. (SF2 hyper fighting, Super SF2 turbo and Hyper SF2 (Anniversary) all run too fast.

I have to check on #capcom to see what the tournament setting for Alpha 3 was....

Space Wars
Rip Off
Armor Attack
Space Duel
Eliminator

I guess I really prefered the vector games that I could play with or against another live person.  I wasn't much for single player...other than Major Havoc, Lunar Lander, and a little Asteroids mixed in...those would be next on my list.

1. Super Punch-Out
2. Punch-Out
3. Street Fighter II
4. Ikari Warriors
5. Super Dodge Ball

That isn't an objective list of course; those are just my personal favorites. An objective list would probably be more like:

1. Pac-Man
2. Donkey Kong
3. Defender
4. Space Invaders
5. Street Fighter II

That would be judging from sales/popularity/impact (on the industry and cultural). I don't happen to find any of those games particularly fun however (with the exception of SFII of course).

Indeed Cameltry is kick-ass! I play it with a regular 2 1/4" trackball and it works perfectly. I'd never played it (neither heard of it) until I randomly stumbled across it a couple of months ago. It's awesome and has great replay value trying to beat your own times. :)

Wow...so incredibly hard to limit to just 5, not to mention most of us have favorites from different eras, but the top 5 games I still like to play today, as much as I did back in the day are:

1) Crazy Climber
2) Gravitar
3) I-Robot
4) Tempest
5) Stargate

Honorable mentions:  Tron, Mario Bros., Robotron, Joust, Venture, Rampart, Qix, Rolling Thunder, Sinistar, Combat, Rally-X, Atari Mini-golf, Toobin, Warlords and on and on and on...

Battlezone

From there, it changes from time to time.  Right now, I tend to MAME Centipede and Warlords quite a bit.

1) Too
2) hard
3) to
4) make
5) choices!

No way I could name a favourite, as if you took any away I'd lose too many memories. Up there would definitely be though:

Killer Instinct (Only the first, not the cack sequel)
Every 4-player co-op brawl (Turtles, Simpsons, Vendetta et al)
Every 2-player co-op brawl (Final Fight, Golden Axe, Double Dragon etc.)
Most vs. fighters (SF2, MK series, though strangely I know not the KOF series)
WWF Wrestlefest

Nope soz, can't even narrow this down...
