OK first off i have since removed a dead monitor, replaced it with a brand new happ 19'', i have placed the pcb inside , bought a capcom classic to JAMMA Adaptor, and then purchased a JAMMA harness. I have read various sites exmp: bob roberts etc.. explaining what certain colors are etc, but maybe someone here can furthur help me get this thing running.

I know the one with the white molex type connecter red green blue black and white is for the monitor but my happ monitor seems to have an extra yellow ? and this adapter doesn't plug into that spot on my monitor board what do i do ?

Ok here is a picture of bundle 1 they have little hook type connectors which look like they would go to my power supply, but i don't know what's what in terms of hooking up 5+ 12+ 5-, I thought i also needed another one?? not sure for ground ? very confused

For your power connections (and double check this with a meter) you should have red for +5V, Yellow for -5V, Orange for +12V, and of course black for ground.

From your picture, it looks like you are missing +12V??  That's odd to me.  some games you can do without the -5V, but the 12V would seem like the more likely to be there.

As for your video, it depends on what the PCB is supplying and what the monitor is looking for.  I think I remember Bob Roberts saying he liked to have the RGB in a 3 pin connector, and the Syncs in a separate connector, so he could skip a pin depending on if the setup required Vert Sync, Horiz Sync, or Composite.  You may need to move a pin within your connector, or make a jumper

I can't tell from the picture of the harness.  Is the 12V (Orange) wire perhaps in the bundle headed towards the coin door?

Picture of your Monitor Input connector would be helpful to see what issue you are having- Whether it is the size of the harness pins, or simply just the length of the harness....I have run into some non-standard size harness pins that I hade to make standard size to work with most monitors... If it is simply length, it is easy enough to cut down the harness to make it work...But again, pictures of your situation would help...

For your Jamma harness, follow the wires back from the jamma harness to the power supply and use this as your reference: http://www.coin.demon.co.uk/jamma.htm Note: you will have multiple 5 and 12 volt wires running to your power supply, this is normal...

I have no idea which one is even the coin door bundle.. and those hook "u" shaped wires i one see black, red, and yellow

these are wires off the happ monitor :

wires with connector off JAMMA Harness (Missing yellow ?)

maybe i just have a bad wire harness ??? this is a close up :

OK after viewing this  : http://www.jammaboards.com/guides/JAMMA-H1_REV2.pdf

it looks as though obviously i'm missing a wire black is ground which i knew, red is +5v, and yellow is +12v, i'm missing the green one which is -5v is this imperitive ??

clearly i'm missing that green -5v : this is the image off jamma boards:

also here:
is an accesory outlet that i have, when i brought the machine home it was working if i plugged a lamp into it or anything for that matter, its not not working, is it related to not having a -5v hooked up to my power supply ?

That close up tells the tale for sure.  From the other picture, it looked like the yellow was right next to the red, but I see now the -5V is missing.  Not a big deal.  Very few percentage of boards use the -5V in Jamma.

And that won't affect anything with the AC wiring.  It would only be an issue if your PCB requires -5V DC.  Don't confuse your AC and your DC.  And if you're not real comfortable with those, please ask ALL your questions before you start powering things up too much.  AC is not always very forgiving.

Check out this page for your video question.  Without knowing what board and monitor you are using I can only guess that you won't need the vertical sync.

Video Red to the red wire
Video Green to the green wire
Video Blue to the blue wire
Video Ground to the black wire
Video Sync the yellow wire
The white is also a sync wire...... It really depends on the game you are playing as to which wires are used... Usually just the Yellow wire is needed, but in some games both syncs are needed and can be safely tied together (Yellow and white together).... You are not going to damage anything by tying them together, you will either get a synched picture or you won't....

-5 Voltage is probably not necessary and either is the additional ground (Usually), just tie to the ground you have.... Also your AC issue is non related.... If it were working before and now it isn't, you have a fuse issue most likely... Do you have a DMM to test voltages/fuses?

I can't even get a picture to turn on at all, if i plug the monitor brand new mind you.. it turns on and i can hear it humm, and if i turn if off i can hear the crackling die down normal atributes of a crt etc.. so i know the brand new Happ monitor works but i don't know how to power it on without having it plugged into an accessory / or regular outlet, Happ provided a quick disconnect on the power cord and looks like a molex with 3 wires. Also i don't know why forgetting about getting my buttons to work i don't know why i can see a picture at all. I cant get my coin doors to light up basically not getting any power. And I know that the power supply should be working because when i recieved it, the coin doors lit up, since removing many old wires, and trying to hook up the brand new JAMMA harness i can't get anything to operate.

Edit!! getting soo close to getting it to work :: initially looked red scramble lines..

Scrolling / slanted at a weird angle, and colors are mainly red ::

    • Thenasty's Arcademania Horizontal/Vertical monitor setup.
When CAbs are open from the back, sometmes it has an interlock switch. This diasble ALL POWER. Make sure to PULL it out to have power go thru the cab.

It's installed agains the side of the cabinet where/when you close the back door, it ppushes it in aloowing power to the cab.

for whatever reason what i did was removed the plastic molex connector, cut and stripped all the monitor wires along with the ones from the JAMMA harness and now i get a nice and crisp picture!! just slightly shifted to the left how do i correct this ? * Edit* fixed off the tiny pcb board off the monitor adjusted and tweeked it that way

well now i need to wire either the coin door / set it to free play, and then all the buttons with the joystick

then need to get power to those daisy chained lights behind the marquee, and that's pretty much it other than cosmetics.

remaining bundles in one i have an extra long orange..

white bundle i think is for the speakers

extra black and green together

and then respectivly two other bundles presumably p1, p2 controls

getting closer

good to hear.  Probably a bad crimp job on the molex connector or something.  or one of the pins got pushed back?

I can't get the speakers/ audio working and i'm positive on dip switch bank "B" for demo audio i turned it on. So i should be hearing something, I know it's the white wire's I'm supposed to be utilizing from the JAMMA harness. The original taito cab had a volume control knob.. i will post pictures later this evening so someone might be able to better help me.

After testing each wire in terms of process of elimination all seem to be working with the exception of "Fire Right"

I was able to get:

Add Coin
Player One
Player Two

Up
Down
Left
Right

Fire left
Fire Straight
*i had two unused wires in this bundle which one should be fire right but neither wire does anything, one is white and one looks aqua frustrated because i'm very close to getting the buttons all working

strange that when i go into *test mode* on the board player 2 controls seem to work also with the exception of that particular input, however during game play none of the player 2 buttons functions maybe it has something to do with the dip switches ??
