Does anyone know how much admission is?  Full show? Saturday only?

I'm amazed that they don't have that on their website.

Well, my memory is poor, but I believe the post I looked up on it
was accurate"   The discount tickets cost 10$ (thru Wegmans Grocery stores)
, admission at the door was 12$

I believe there was even a small discount if you wanted to purchase
more than one days admission,  As that is what I did.

If you bring a machine to the show, they let you in for free.

I will double check to make sure nothing changed.. but I seriously doubt it.

I know they are still doing the discount with Wegmans too.

$12  for a whole days worth of games on freeplay aint bad at all  :)

I really want to make it - but I've got to be at a wedding that Saturday

I did hit up the Akron Pinball Show last month with a few friends - had a blast on NBA Fastbreak, Guns 'N Roses and alot of other great pins.

Anyone know of any other Expo's in the PA / Ohio / NY zone?

Looks like I'll be there Saturday - I'll definitely bring my camera for some pix.

Thanks for the tip Xiaou2 - it's worth a trip for the EDOT alone!

If you stop by Rodgers (Fantasy Raceways,  3787 Dewey Ave),  tell em  'Kungfu Steve'  sent you :)     You wont regret it, he's a great guy,   and has a lot of great classic machines there.   Much fun :)
-----------------

Some other places of interest to google-map out, Before you go:

------

Public Market
280 N. UNION STREET

Just 1 minute up the road is the Public Market.   "Fresh seasonal produce direct from area farmers, crafts, dry goods, meat, fish and poultry products, as well as fresh dairy items and ethnic home baked foods. (and mini flea-market / artists stalls) Located at its present site since 1905 and offering more than 250 vendor stalls"

Open Sat from 5am to 3pm.

------  Good Eating -------

 Dinosaur BBQ & Grill

 99 Court Street
Rochester, NY 14604
585-325-7090

Monday – Thursday 11:00 am to Midnight
Friday & Saturday – 11:00 am to 1:00 am
Sunday - Noon to 10:00 pm for Dinner
Live Music Mon – Sat Night

------

('Famous Daves' , and  'Stick lips'  BBQ are also pretty good BBQ too.   (Note: I dont
eat Ribs.  I eat the chicken, pulled pork, and beef brisket)

------

Yummy Garden  (Chinese Take-Out)
(1 mile away from the show)

345 Meigs St.
Rochester, NY
585-288-2888

Gota say,  this is one of my Fav Chinese Take Out places so far.   The food
is always Fresh and filled with flavor.  Consistently been satisfied - where others have
been variable in quality and taste.

I recommend the Hunan Chicken, Szechuan Beef, Beef w. Bamboo Shoots & Black Mushrooms, Beef w. Scallion, Hot & Spicy Beef (sweet taste to it), Beef w. Broccoli,  and much more.

-------

Applebees  (Good flavor steaks:   House Sirlion, Bourbon Street Steak ((taste like Italian Sausage)),  grab a  Bananaberry Freeze  for a drink,  and a Maple Blondie Brownie
for Desert (its hot & topped with Ice cream, and maple sauce on the side  :)   )

1683 E Ridge Rd, Rochester, NY   (3 miles away.. and 1min away from  Kings Highway ;)   )

-------

Scotch and Sirlion  (Upscale / pricey.   Get the Fillet Minion (Med) if its available )

 3450 Winton Place, #25, Rochester, NY 14623

Comedy Cafe - Is also in the same plaza.   Entertainment price was cheap if I
recalled... but,  the food and drinks are pricey as I recall.  Food was good.  Drinks
didnt seem to have enough kick to them - for my taste.

------

Roadhouse Grill  (Yummy Steaks & Prime Rib.  Limited menu.  Decent prices)

830 Jefferson Rd
Rochester, NY 14623
Phone: (585) 427-2250

-------

Some would tell you to try a  "Garbage Plate"   at  Nick Tahou's.   Its quite
famous.   I personally dont like food like that.

-------

Malls:

The "Medley Center"  is basically dead with exception for Mythic Treasures... with is actually a pretty cool new-age gift shop. (dragons, faeries, occult things, incense, and more @ low prices)

However, if you wana hit the big malls... go to either Greece Ridge Mall,  Marketplace Mall,  or much further out  Eastview Mall (more upscale).

------

Ice Cream World  (They bought a Carvel shop.  They make the BEST soft-serve IMOP.)

703 Ridge Rd E
Rochester, NY 14621

-------

 House Of Guitars

A famous Music Instrument shop.   Place is huge, and interesting.
645 Titus Ave

--------

Irondequoit Bay Park  (Beach, Lake, Long walk Pier)

Take Culver Rd.  all the way to the end towards Lake Ontario.   You will see an Amusement park near the end  called  "Sea Breeze".  (sadly not open till next month)    A little further down, there is a hill.  At the bottom of the hill,  are a few restaurants,  then a huge parking area.  Park there, and go to the end of the lot and make a left.   There is a walkway along the beach, and goes out to a huge pier walkway overlooking lake Ontario.

(Google address:  Culver Rd @43.234646, -77.535185)

-------

And you MUST  take a drive on  "Kings Highway".   Its a long twisty, curvy, hilly  road.  Its awesome fun to drive!   ;D    Just take care, as the turns are a bit sharp.

(pop into google address bar:  S Kings Hwy @43.199201, -77.577006       or,  look at
corner of East Ridge rd & North Goodman St.     At the end of King Highway is a little parking area, where one can see the water.   Theres a little footpath trail that leads to a small beach at the bottom of the hill)

------

Places some may find interesting:

 George Eastman House
 Susan B. Anthony House

 Memorial Art Gallery
 Rochester Museum and Science Center
Strong Museum (lots of great children exhibits/events, so Ive heard)

------

 The only big arcade left:

 Adventure Landing
 3340 Ridge Rd W, Rochester, NY 14626

Decent Mini Golf courses.  However, Im not too into the arcade machines there.
However, there is a big play area for kids.  A bunch of cannons that shoot balls
at each other.

Theres at least one  Chuck E Cheese's  around here too.  However,  again,  the
games are modern junk Imop.   Theres a huge play area though, which I envy that
wasnt there in my youth!  heh

Fantasy Raceways  - As Ive listed... the best  "Classic Arcade"  open to the public.
As well as a slot car race track.    3787 Dewey Ave

-----

 Explorers:

 Take a walk around:

Monroe Ave.  to see tons of  Artsy shops & interesting cuisine.
Park Ave.    interesting  in/outdoor seating restaurants.  Upscale/Romantic environments.

The Center at High Falls Visitor Center: View the 96ft tall WaterFall.  As well as some other exhibits.
  (60 Browns Race)

Village Gate Square: Unique section of shops and interesting artworks.  Right around the corner
from the show at    274 N Goodman St.

------

Others that Ive not done:

http://www.rockventures.net/    (Rochester Rock-Climbing simulating place)
http://insidetrackspeedway.com/index.html  (Indoor Electric Go-Carts. I gota try soon :)  )
http://www.rochesterskydivers.com/nfhome.htm

and more here too:

http://rocwiki.org/

==========
2 Hrs drive from Rochester:

Niagara Falls, Canada!   They even light it up in colored lights at night.   Casino Niagara is also next door to the falls.   And if you can, get up to   "The Sundowner"  for some awesome male entertainment  ;)   (Full nudity, Beautiful woman, great close-up walkway, and more)

 Corning Museum of Glass

-------

So again,  plot/map  out your places of interest.   Get to experience some cool things
in Rochester besides the show itself.

It was OK.  They had I would guess over 100 games and pin ball machines set up.  It was about a 50/50 mix of the 2.  They had a nice Star Wars pin, Terminator 3 pin and a Shrek pin that commanded a lot of the attention.  I did not play Star Wars or Shrek as there was a long line at them the whole time I was there.  They did have a problem for a little while with the circuit breakers tripping and putting 10 to 12 machines in the dark for a little while.  I was there about 2.5 hours and I played 25 to 30 games.  I think the best was a ST TNG pinball machine.  (Of course I am bias to Star Trek and have one of the ST TNG pins at my dads house.)  LOL  I also saw several 48 in one and 60 in one arcade machines for sale.  Ranging from $700 to 1800.  There was a Tempest, Dig Dug, Ms Pac Man, Pole Position, Marvel Vs Capcom, along with others that I did not recognize.  Someone there had several monitors for $75 each.

Sorry I for got to take my camera.   :(

All in all it was fun and worth it.  I would recommend it.

Just got back from the show.  I always have a good time there, its really fun to see all of the different machines that people bring.  Especially the old and obscure ones.

I brought in some pictures of the Sabrecade, but as soon as I showed them to Dave Jones he grabbed them and took off and that was the last I saw of them :-).  I bought the case for it from him and Chad; I was glad to see that they liked the finished product.

I talked to Kevin Steele about MAME front-ends and he said that the guy who wrote Ultrastyle was there earlier.  Word is that he is thinking about writing a new version based on Microsoft's SilverLight -- I'm am very excited to see what comes of that.

If anyone's thinking about going over on Sunday, go for it.  Its definitely a cool experience and something that's not easy to find.

Lots of machines for sale. It looked to me that most people were pretty slick and brought the machines they wanted to sell and put them on free play, that way you get to advertise it for sale, and also not pay for admission. Here's some pictures I snapped:

Took my TransAm there, and at a rest stop saw its big brother:

Got to meet the legend, Kev Steele - great guy. Forgot the stick to poke him with, sorry CheffoJeffo!

Finally got to play HERCULES! I've been wanting to do that for some time. Boy, does that game suck - but cool for the bigness factor:

Good amount of people there, and I agree about a 50/50 mix of pins and vids. I was disappointed in the small number of classics in original cabs. Quite a few 48 -1s, one Tempest that was a little screwed up, a couple of cabarets: Asteroids and Missile Command. A few cocktails: Phoenix and another, I forget what it was. LOTS of EM pins, and a good amount of newer ones. Here's some pictures:

Mini Kiss!!!

One of the vendors there had some very cool neon signs, and like a dope I forgot to get a card or anything. I like the Game Room signs! Can someone get their contact info, or at least who they were?

Its funny you could see the age division: the arcade stuff had the "old timers" mostly and their kids, the teenagers were at the console gaming contest. I think it was Tour of Duty, I really didn't bother to check it out:

And to answer your question, DS - yeah, lots of games for sale. A bunch of jukes too. I wish I had the money - they had three really nice Rowe CD jukes - the exact freaking model I want for $550!!! Pins seemed to average around $800 - $1,500. The whacked out Tempest was $600, some dead cabs for sale too. All in all, the prices seemed ok for what they were selling. The guy that had the TNG Star Trek pin wanted $2,700 for it - I think he is out of his mind. I overheard him haggling with a guy that wanted to buy two pins, he wouldn't come down on his price.

Nice Carvings stuff was displayed on Kev's billboard, but Melissa wasn't there. I was bummed not to meet her. Oh well, maybe next year. I tell you, I got a chance to see her stuff in person, and it looks fantastic! If you were unsure as to quality of these, rest assured, you will be ecstatic with them if you get them!

All in all I had a good time. Definitely worth $10! (If you're local, or can find a Wegemans they have discount coupons)

No - I planned to take the whole day, but the wife had other plans, so I didn't get a chance to go. However, I'll definitely stop by this summer next time I'm in town and mention you. I HAVE to play the EDOT!

Bluevolume,

Its not the same guy as in medely.

Fantasy Raceways is at   3787 Dewey Ave.

If you were to turn off west ridge rd onto dewey,  and take it down till you see a
wegmans.   Just a little past that on the opposite side of the road.   You cant miss
it - as he has a zillion Neon signs EVERYWHERE!  heh.    I cant imagine his power
bills  >.<

Sorry to hear you couldnt make it there Havok.   I just went today and fired up a
few games  :)    Always great to play a working Race Drivin...  as there is no
way to experience that game without the real controls.   And Monaco GP,  that
game is just pure coolness.  Such a shame that its not been simulated/emulated.

He had just replaced the monitor in his Sea Wolf and was showing it off to me.
Hes very good about keeping his games maintained and working properly.

(with exception to pins...  but, now he has a vendor supply his pins, so they are
in much better shape :)  )

 At the Show:

I bought a boatload of old leaf buttons for 10 cents each :)   Mostly for the
leafs themselves,  as backups.   Also the same for Leaf joys.  Though, it might be
possible to bring at least 2 of them back to playable status with some work.

Got a decent trackball for $10.  Has some wear, but should be able to restore it..
and really couldnt beat the price :)

Was cool to finally have a good deal of pinball parts in this year.   However,  the only thing
I needed this time wasnt available.

I probably should have bought the cheap $100 cab for a mame turnover project.  Ahh well.

Lots of fun playing the Guns and Roses.  My first time on that machine.. and it was Rockin!  ;D

Great to see the local collectors bring their top notch pieces again.  G&R, Midevil Madness,
Indiana Jones, and there was even the rare Bing Bang Bar.  (Which I was able to play after the
tournament :)  )  and much more.

It was a good year for sellers.  As I saw a LOT of games sold and moved out.  (including one
I sold ).   I heard they also sold a ton of games on Friday as well.   Too bad I didnt show up till
sat..  as I am curious to know what else was came in.

I enjoyed playing the games.  It seemed like quite a few had issues, though.  I put the high score on Crazy Climber and the Phoenix cocktail.

That's me playing the Shrek pinball.  ;D  It was the only time I played it.... long line.

That's too funny - caught you! How come you didn't introduce yourself?

 ;D

I bet I could have taken you down on the Phoenix highscore - when I went to play it, there weren't any credits, and I didn't bother to get it credited up. I did post the high score on the Zaxxon cocktail though. I skipped playing the Shrek pin just because of the line. I spent quite a bit of time playing the Black Knight though. I'm thinking I may have to get one of those...

Thanks Havok! I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it to the show. I haven't been to any shows yet, but I really want to. Hopefully I will make it to some shows soon. I have to thank Kevin for displaying my castings at his booth, he is awesome!! :)

Hey Princess! Your carvings were a hit -- we sold a bunch, and they were definitely attention getters, as people kept walking up to our booth just to take a look (hopefully some got subscriptions to GameRoom!)

And thankfully, no sharp stick poking. Good to meet you, Havok!

The building was interesting -- it was an armory, built in 1904, and had a firing range, brig, and mortuary downstairs. The owner bought it from the city for $1, then spent close to $3 million renovating it.

The machines were selling fast -- close to 150 machines sold on Saturday alone! There was more than once that I saw a game I wanted to play, and by the time I finally could get away from the booth, the game was no longer there!

Anyway, a good show, and it was nice meeting some of you face to face.
