Make sure you post pics of you playing it tomorrow.

Heh, its 9 where i live, so you will see pics a a couple days.

but any reccomendations for a Cheap 19" television for my PS2 cab and a cheap monitor for my supergun? Just to get me started?

Define cheap... either way - check out craigslist for the TV

cheap? under 200 bucks. 100 if possible.

actually, what size would you recommend for fighting games like virtua fighter and tekken?
You know what? Im just gonna walk into best buy tommorow and see what they got.

65" Mitsubishi big screen.  Also, craigslist.org really is the best route considering that your parents won't let you have the cabinet, I would assume due to cost, and a new t.v. is about half of that cabinet.  Just by a $20 special and have that part done.  A new t.v. isn't going to provide anything else besides a shiny cardboard box to possibly start your cabinet out of.

I just wanted a long ass quote thingy of my very own. Thanks.
I'll tell you what gets to me.  It's when someone messes up the pyramid!
Pyramid FTW!
This is all getting very Ancient Egyptian now.... I don't know! All this talk of Pyramids  :applaud: Just thought I'd add to it... Are we going for a record pyramid score here??
We are a longggggggggggg way off from the record pyramid, that's for sure
this is true...
I thought pyramids were illegal.. or is that some kind of scheme??
No... you're just confused... It's "Hippies" that are illegal and they're into pyramids as well.

I want to take a day off from work and hang out at Best Buy today just to see the kid walk in with his notepad printout and ask someone there for a 25" TV, and X-Arcade sticks, and a VF2 PCB.
He must be grounded.  He hasn't posted 20 times yet today and it's already past noon.  I'm worried about him.  What time does BestBuy open?

School?
I didn't think of that.  I wonder if he's gonna crap when he sees there are 50 new responses?
you mean 51 responses....
Well, that was just an arbitrary number, but I'll go with it.  Here's to 52!

I didn't want get yelled at for breaking the streak  :D

I didn't think the Supergun worked for Med Res games.  Does it?  Or it can, just not on a regular TV?

I like the 10,000.00 Pyramid.  It's pretty and messmerizing, scroll up and down quickly.

Boobies!
HAS ANYONE SEEN MY KEYS?......THEY'RE ON AN ATARI KEYCHAIN....ANYONE?
Well, since you put it this way.........................NO!  They must be broken!
Just like a Nintendo joystick ....

A little FYI kid,

DO NOT BUY THE TV RIGHT NOW.

GUTTED CABS ARE NOT STANDARD, THEY VARY IN SIZE.

YOU NEED THE CAB FIRST SO YOU CAN KNOW HOW BIG THE TV CAN BE.

Also, best buy does not carry tube anymore.

Since you have a hatred for ebay, another good place for a virtua fighter pcb would be to search out every arcade within 100 miles and ask if they have a pcb laying around.

This is a small hobby and even smaller for the pcb side, don't expect to find what you want easily.

Also, search for jamma boards.  Took me 2 minutes to find this one, http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/
No, you can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...And if you try sometime you find...You get what you need...

This has got to be a joke. Is this guy really this determined, yet so unwilling to search the web for what he wants?

And DON"T BREAK THE PYRAMID!!!!

Knowledge is key.... and the unwillingness to obtain such knowledge leaves you with but only one joystick to play with.

I love LAMP!

Sorry Champ. I think I ate your chocolate squirrel.
The matrix 2 and 3 were terrible movies.

This thread is akin to walking into a Dodge enthusiast gathering and asking how to build a Charger around an engine, but you don't want to buy a Charger, spend any money, have the engine, have any mechanical ability, tools, or the desire to learn.

I didn't think the Supergun worked for Med Res games.  Does it?  Or it can, just not on a regular TV?

I like the 10,000.00 Pyramid.  It's pretty and messmerizing, scroll up and down quickly.

That sounds about right...  learning how to build these things and actually carrying out a plan is the best part of this hobby to me... sure, playing the games is fun too but topping my Galaga high score doesn't feel half as good as powering up a cab for the first time and having it actually work...

WHOA!!! this is a huge ass pyramid!!!

But to the point.

It was 9pm where i live, so I had to go to bed.

But here is my plan. I have someone to do the woodworking of the cab. Relative. Im gonna mount an X-arcade Dual-player Joystick to the cab, then hook the stick up to the Ps2 via the free ps2 adapter. Im gonna have a little slot for the wires, a little door at the bottom for the ps2 and normal controllers If I want to play other games, and get a good size TV. And design the art.

But there is one problem...

Money. Due to this, I will keep planning, but will not buy materials until I am more financially supported. The cab wont be made in a couple of days or weeks. I will save up, and earn money, so let me explain this to you, with a statement..

Human desire knows no bounds.
I am sure you all know this, because today, I am thinking of all the problems I could run into. And I am wondering if it will be worth it blowing all that money on a cab like that. One problem that I am thinking about is the dual player joystick. Since the ps2 detects a second ps2 controller in the second controller slot, I wonder If the adapter will work for two player. Speaking of the controller, I wonder If the Joystick will be detected, because It looks like you might have to hack it. But back to the statement. Lets say I finish the Cab, but 5 days later something that I would want more than the cab, and my parents say I cant get it because of the money I spent. And I might not even use the cab in a couple weeks...err, I probobly will as long as I want to play PS2, but I could think that getting two hori joysticks would have been cheaper and more well-rounded. So my point is, I am going to wait until I am in the right situation for buying it, and can amuse myself with this. It will be my first cab, and It will be a relatively simple one. So when I do build the cab, I will post a video/Pictures of me playing it. (And God I would do SO much better at Street Fighter III.)

So, bye, and thanks for the help.  To Arcades.

So when I do build the cab, I will post a video/Pictures of me playing it. (And God I would do SO much better at Street Fighter III.)

So, bye, and thanks for the help.  To Arcades.

So you are not going to go for the actual PCB anymore? To be honest getting a gutted cab will be cheaper than buying one. Hell here in the UK you can get a candy cab style machine with PC and Touchscreen in it for £60 ($120) and all you would need to add to that would be a control panel.

If you do get a cab ask around to see if you can borrow one and see if it fits in your basement. With regards to PCB's check that they have the code for noisy as this can be a problem, don't forget a lot of sellers will offer free shipping although that can vary in cost but it is free.

I didn't think the Supergun worked for Med Res games.  Does it?  Or it can, just not on a regular TV?

I like the 10,000.00 Pyramid.  It's pretty and messmerizing, scroll up and down quickly.

 :blah:  :banghead:

That sounds about right...  learning how to build these things and actually carrying out a plan is the best part of this hobby to me... sure, playing the games is fun too but topping my Galaga high score doesn't feel half as good as powering up a cab for the first time and having it actually work...
Amen to that brother!

No doubt ..... I rarely play anything I build or repair ...... I just like to tinker.
I let other people get their giggles from playing.

I just want to bring things to life. (insert muahhahahaha voice)

WHOA!!! this is a huge ass pyramid!!!

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

Thanks.

No... you're just confused...

I didn't think of that.  I wonder if he's gonna crap when he sees there are 50 new responses?

This thread is akin to walking into a Dodge enthusiast gathering and asking how to build a Charger around an engine, but you don't want to buy a Charger, spend any money, have the engine, have any mechanical ability, tools, or the desire to learn.
That sounds about right...  learning how to build these things and actually carrying out a plan is the best part of this hobby to me... sure, playing the games is fun too but topping my Galaga high score doesn't feel half as good as powering up a cab for the first time and having it actually work...

Actually X-Arcade is not really that bad if you considering running multiple system like pc and console.  But yes, ditch those joystick and button that comes with it, just take the interface.  My next system will be using one as I wanted both pc and console (ps2 and xbox).  Buying a new one, of course not, but I was able to pickup one local for like 20 bucks inlcluding all the needed adapter.

Here's to 52!

eleventy twelve
[SNIP]
Also, search for jamma boards.  Took me 2 minutes to find this one, http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/
No, you can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...And if you try sometime you find...You get what you need...
WHOA!!! this is a huge ass pyramid!!![SNIP]
So, bye, and thanks for the help.  To Arcades.
So you are not going to go for the actual PCB anymore? [SNIP]
Pyramid people, pyramid....
Ugly cabs can only make a better foundation.
Has one of these actually taken up an entire page before?
Hmmmmmm.........
Not that I know of.... But it looks like we might be going for the record here!!
(did some subtle tydying to improve the shape a bit and get rid of long ass comments messing it up LOL  ;D )
Excellent idea Fozzy. Much prettier now!
SuperShadowRyan: I would definately advise against using an X Arcade for any serious fighting game. Cabinet or not. You need J sticks and convex buttons for good VF action. no joke
Actually X-Arcade is not really that bad if you considering running multiple system like pc and console.  But yes, ditch those joystick and button that comes with it, just take the interface.
I can only agree with this one... X-Arcade sticks absoultely suck on fighting games. But doing it that way he'd be better off just buying a Keywiz or an IPac. But he's not doing it now anyway, in case he sees something else that he wants his parents to buy him. Go Figure! Teenagers!!
My brain hurts.   :dizzy:
Anyone else feel like watching the mummy?
ROFL I just did....  :laugh2:
Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

:laugh2:
I used to watch the mummies quite often ..... oh wait... I'm not supposed to talk about that anymore.   ::)
roflcopter!
Double roflcopter  :laugh2: So come on guys! If we're going for the record Pyramid get posting!

So what is a "ROLFcopter"? I could search on the web, but that wouldn't extend the pyramid.

Here's to 52!
eleventy twelve
[SNIP]
Also, search for jamma boards.  Took me 2 minutes to find this one, http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/
No, you can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...And if you try sometime you find...You get what you need...
WHOA!!! this is a huge ass pyramid!!![SNIP]

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

Here's to 52!
eleventy twelve
[SNIP]
Also, search for jamma boards.  Took me 2 minutes to find this one, http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/
No, you can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...And if you try sometime you find...You get what you need...
WHOA!!! this is a huge ass pyramid!!![SNIP]
:laugh2:
I used to watch the mummies quite often ..... oh wait... I'm not supposed to talk about that anymore.   ::)

So what is a "ROLFcopter"? I could search on the web, but that wouldn't extend the pyramid.

Thanks.

Also, search for jamma boards.  Took me 2 minutes to find this one, http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/
No, you can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...You can't always get what you want...And if you try sometime you find...You get what you need...
WHOA!!! this is a huge ass pyramid!!![SNIP]
ROLFcopter   look.... there goes one now!   ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL it's the noise a helicopter makes....  :laugh2:

Here's to 52!
eleventy twelve
