Yes, I agree.  The Groovy Game Gear spinner is great and cheaper!  Smooth as silk to when playing. I recommend it.

Has anyone had an email reply or talked to them on the phone in the last week?  I've tried calling twice more, only the answering machine.

I decided not to email this week.  :timebomb:

I received an email on Nov 5th that ended with this statement:

"You have our word as a manufacturer that your order is being worked on and will
be out to you as soon as possible."

-----

Based on the other thread that states SS is selling out, I don't know what to believe anymore.

Another tale of woe...

Man do I wish I would have found this thread before I ordered from Slikstik.

Here is the story:

In may I ordered a quad unit from slikstik with an overlay and colors to match the overlay.  I bought this for our church youth room ( we are going to put two of these in eventually ).

The ordering process and pre-sales discussions were great.  Great communication, all my questions were answered.

After the order everything changed.  After waiting for the standard 6 weeks I started calling and emailing them.  After no response one day I called about 9 times and finally got an answer.

Excuse #1:  Trackball is on back order.  He stated that he was sorry that there had been no communications and i must have been an issue with my email.

After waiting another month I started trying to get in touch with him agian.  This time it took several emails and phone calls before i was able to talk to someone or hear from someone.

Excuse #2:  When I spoke to them this time I was told that the buttons were on back order from happ.  Since I had custom colors they would take probably one week and then the unit could be finished.

Well this one was less believable than the first but since he was apologetic and I was excited that we would have this in two weeks I was ok with it.

After 3 weeks I started emailing and calling again.  Now I was angry.  It took almost two months before i was able to talk to someone or get a response from someone.

Excuse #3:  This time it is the overlay.  The overlay cam in but it was not right.  He was sending the overlay back and it would be shipping by the end of the week.  He was super apologetic even remarked that he understood why i was upset since this was ordered in May.

I started emailing and calling before the end of the week.  I received the string below.  (might want to start at the bottom of the email string.

---------EMAIL---------
Oops,

I responded to the wrong email.  I'll be responding to yours as soon as I speak my boss.  Sorry about that.

--------------END EMAIL ----------------

That was the last communication I have had with Slikstik.  I have sent tons of emails and left voicemails.

I contacted the Better Business Beuro and they ended up closing the case since Slikstik would not respond.  Now I am forced to take them to small claims court to get anything back.

If you are considering buying anything from Slikstik DON"T DO IT.

If any of you have any ideas on a place that I can order a quad unit from that will be dependable and not steal from me then I would greatly appreciate the information.

If any of they guys at slikstik are reading this then I would just appreciate my money back without having to take you guys to court.

That said I have a call into my attorney to discuss how best to take this to small claims court.

Thanks,

Steven

I have to agree that this is great news, but since (as you said yourself) you are still only in negotiations, it may still be some time before any of us see the products we ordered months ago, let alone a refund, which according to your other post is something you will not be offering.

I mailed the paperwork for a small claims lawsuit today. For those who have exhausted their options, I'd recommend this link:

http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/civil/civ-02.htm

SlikStik is based in Essex County, so you'll need to mail the paperwork to:

Superior Court of New Jersey
Law Division
Special Civil Part
Essex County
50 West Market Street, Room 113
Newark, NJ  07102

The filing fee is $22 and they recommend you mail the paperwork certified with return receipt. You should be able to recover these costs as part of the lawsuit.

Now, the down side to this whole process is that as the Plaintiff, you MUST appear in court on the date and time they indicate, otherwise the case will be dismissed. The last place on earth I'd want to spend any length of time is New Jersey, but I fully intend to see this through. I doubt travel expenses can be included in the award, but I might push for those, too.

I think it goes without saying that if you're considering this you should read all of the materials in the link above and be absolutely sure that this is what you want to do.

I'll keep you posted on what happens, but I don't think I'll be commenting on this much until after my court date.

According to my lawyer, you can file the small claims court at your local court. Since they are soliciting your business at your home, you can use the local courts.  I'm going to be be filing my claim after Thanksgiving.

Hope this helps! (And I hope it is accurate  ;D)

hi everyone.  i'm new to the forum, but i've been reading the posts for about 3 or 4  weeks now.  of course the reason i started looking here was because i had a similar story to the many i've seen posted here.  i will give a high level account of my story because most of it will just repeat what others have said.  my purpose here is to hopefully give people who still haven't received their CP's yet some ray of hope.  i know i felt a little more at ease when i saw that Chris from Canada received his CP.  it at least gave me some hope that SS didn't just up and leave with my money.  well, here goes.

I ordered the Quad unit from SS on June 11 and asked for an upgrade a few weeks later.  the next part of my story is the same as everyone else so i'm going to skip it.  i will say, however, that i was pretty angry that it was taking so long to get my unit.

I finally got someone on the phone about 3 weeks ago and found out it was Christian.  I spoke to him for a while about my order and he told me it would be ready the following week.  He also gave me his cell # so i could keep in contact with him and set up a date to pick it up (luckily i live in NJ and I'm only a half hour away).  The next time i spoke to him (11/13) he said it would be ready on 11/16.  I drove out an met him on 11/16 and my CP was ready to go.  Everything looked great.  I hooked it up last weekend and it works fine.

Before I go into my next part, I want to say that this was the first time I ever met Christian.  I am not a relative of his nor one of his drinking buddies.

I spoke with Christian for about an hour the day i picked up my unit and he was very apologetic about the delay.  I have to say he is a really nice guy when you speak with him.  He realizes that his customer service needs some work and i really think he wants to get the CP's out to everyone that has placed an order.  I saw about 5 or 6 CP's there that were waiting for trackballs.  I'm not taking anyone's side on why the trackballs aren't there, but for whatever reason, they are not.  I'm definitely not trying to make excuses for what is going on - I'm simply sharing my experience with everyone.  I really hope that everyone gets their CP's soon.  I did suggest to Christian that maybe he could put something on the SS main page about any delays that are going on so people who are looking to place an order will know that there are some kind of delays and if they order, they know the CP will take a bit longer than they would expect.  Now that my ordeal is over and after speaking with Christian, I wish him good luck in trying to re-establish his reputation.

anyway, my main reason for posting here is to let everyone know that CP's still seem like they are being worked on and being sent out when they are completed.  I also wanted to post a picture of my entire unit now that it is finally finished (if i can figure out how to do it).

Now that i have my arcade running, i wanted to see if anyone could help me.  I'm having problems running the different game systems using the CP.  MAME works great - no problems.  But when i try to run any of the consoles like Nintendo or Atari, etc. I can't get the CP buttons and joysticks to work with the games.  The games run, they just don't seem to recognize the CP.  Any advice?  I really appreciate it.

I had e-mailed SlikStik about a week ago asking about their cabinet kits that were mentioned in the Project Arcade book.  (I REALLY want to build my own cabinet, but I do not have any room at all to build one, nor do I have the tools, nor do I really have the talents to do this on my own.  Therefore, I need to buy a kit or a pre-built cabinet).  So I was hoping to be able to pick up the cabinet kit that was mentioned because the overall design is what I was looking for.  I have not yet heard anything.

Meanwhile, last night I read about J&J's Arcade by reading this thread and e-mailed him with my thoughts.  Within about half an hour I got a response from Mark stating "We can customize any cabinet design that you want."  I'm just looking for a cabinet shell and don't want to spend a ton of money, and Mark said that they'd be able to customize the cabinet to my needs.  Therefore, for around $1600, including shipping, I should be able to get my cabinet shell without the monitor, computer or control panel.  Those are items that I can purchase slowly over time.

While i know that building my own would probably be much cheaper, I don't own a truck or a vehicle to pick up a cabinet or the materials to build one, and I don't have a garage to build one in.  So this is really my only choice.  I've been very pleased with the response time so far, especially during the Thanksgiving holiday.  Once pay-day comes and I have the money to afford it, I'll be puchasing the cabinet shell and then later on getting my monitor from him.

So, according to your statement, it took 5 months to build it and you had to go pick it up.

Totally unacceptible in my book.  It's really a joke actually and I just reversed my CC charges, so it doesn't matter for me anymore.  I'm going to find one from a company who values their customers.

Check out mameroom.com  They have really good kits that you can get for around 500- 600.  I have gotten one of their bartop kits and it was great.  Here is a link to their page:

Wow.  Fantastic looking.  Too bad they don't have a kit of their Ultimate Arcade I cabinet.  That's the style I'm really looking for.  In the meantime, I found another site where the person running it is willing to custom build any arcade design that you can provide, and he's quoted me a price of around $500 plus shipping for the design I want.  It pretty much meets my needs because it's a bare, empty shell that is not painted but is just built.  That's exactly what I'm looking for and I'm currently shooting off some ideas to Brian to see if it can be done.

I'm now really getting excited!   ;D

Dang!! You know what!! I never did order anything from him.... because of his obnoxious attitude on here.

It must be entirely my fault that his company is now in a big pile of doggy poo.  How right it turns out he was, when he was begging me to order from him like that. "Oh Woe Is Me" I feel so guilty for not giving him my money so that he could sit on it for months or years at a time and not produce the product.  ROFLMGDAO  :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Still being new to this whole thing, can anyone help me with running console games....(SNIP)...

Wrong thread! That's very off topic in this one.

If you want to ask this sort of question start a new thread to ask it.

But the first thing you should do is search the forum! the answers are out there.

If you don't find the answer in your search, then PLEASE be more specific with your questions. If you have a specific problem running console games, what is the problem exactly.

If you haven't even tried to run them yourself first.... then don't ask, because you'll get rounded on for not putting the effort in to try for yourself first!

NEW THREAD!

Hello all,

Glad to hear there might be help for Slikstik customers through a possible merger.  Reading back you'll find my experience with slikstik, but you'll miss some since the first thread burned up in flames.  I did file a compaint with the BBB in NJ and as expected received it closed with no response from Christian.  Luckily I managed to get my problems worked out without any assistance from Slikstik.  I do have my Cabinet and CP, though not perfect it works and looks very good.  Andy, there are some problems with the Marque Christian supplied and I would like to get with you off line to order a new one; so I will go to your site to do that.  If anyone is interested I will post photos of the CP and Cabintet to show the customizations and end product.  I would suggest all outstanding customers of Slikstik to protect yourself and avoid business with the company until they get their act together.  As for all the request for Christians personal cell phone, I understand everyones need to get a hold of Christian.  But he will ignore recognized numbers even on his personal line.  I got him to pick up once by using my wife's cell phone :).

Shouldn't this post be made a sticky? I bet there's lots of people that want to order from Slik Stik but will change their mind when they read about the trouble. I was one of them....

It looks like Mameroom Designs has worked out some sort of deal where they are selling the SlikStik CP's and are promising 15 day lead times.  I hope all goes well.

My recent experience with SlikStik was extremely disheartening.  At first I supported them because I was getting decent communication.  But they would never give me an estimated ship date.  Instead, they would tell me that it was delayed 1-2 weeks because of tracball issues, then overlays, then it was the busy season etc.  After almost 4 months of waiting for a control panel, I tried to cancel my order but I could never get a confirmation from SlikStik.  So I turned the matter over to my credit card company and the BBB of Trenton, NJ.  The credit card company has issued me a conditional refund while they pursue this.

I think that the way that SlikStik has been doing business is criminal.  They take money and then purposefully give the customer the run-around.  I really hope that there is a karmic justice system and they get what they deserve.

I'd be nice if Christian would nut-up and come in here to at least respond to the customers he is (evidently) giving the shaft.  He is fully aware of this thread I am sure...hell, he probably has read through it a few times.

he does not care about his customers, never has. i have dealt with him twice over the years and both times he screwed up some how and was never willing to make it right.
what might help everyone out here is to post a list in this thread of all the known control panel makers that have a good reputaion.

Yup its still up, but all options to order any kind of cabinet or control panel is no longer available. Looks like they stopped robbing people of their money somewhat. Now if only I got my panel I ordered back in August

Yep, I am one of those people. I Google'd "SlikStik issues" and was directed to this forum. It has helped me out tremendously on other topics, so thanks! But alas, I am still without my CP I ordered from SlikStik in August. And of course, without my money too. I hope that acquisition goes through, because I would really like to get my CP by 2009!

Thanks again!

As with others, I found out about this thread far too late, and
these scurvy dogs now have my money, and I'm without a
spinner.  I've sent e-mails, left voice mails at the official number <grumble>

BUT, I thought others here would be interested in this page...

http://www.gobignetwork.com/classified/active/industry-leader-seeks-angel/66688/index.aspx

I think it's another indication that Slik Stik is in trouble.  But, more
to the aid of folks on this thread, here are some numbers that might
be worth knowing about...

ROFLMAO...... They value the company at $2 Mil !!!!!  :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: Those numbers just don't add up!
5 Employees, Annual Turnover of just $280,000 = $0 Proffit! In fact it probably means negative proffits... which would explain the current poop pile and failures to supply the goods.

Nobody in their right minds would value that at $2 Mil.

Here's something else interesting.........

Has anybody noticed SickSlick producing any in house inventions??
Here's what they claim:
"SlikStik is a industry leading manufacturer of Home game room arcade machines, we are known world wide as the leader in this industry. ( HA HA HA Ho Ho!!  :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: ) We have been actively manufacturing our product line on a small scale for 5 years and are the only manufacturer of many in house inventions."

Buggered if I know what these in house inventions are, that they are the only manufacturer of!  Maybe somebody could enlighten us as to what it is in the Arcade Industry they actually invented and have patents on! Apart from not supplying machines, after people have paid them (that's a pretty new invention). Maybe they're the recognised industry leader in that.... Maybe they hope that all other manufacturers will follow their lead, and stop actually supplying the goods, while still taking the money for them.  :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Here's another odd thing to note.... The business analysis site lists their gross turnover as $280,000..... They on the other hand are asking for $2 Mil and on the same page stating their gross turnover is in excess of $1 Mil...  Wonder who's telling the truth here.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)
