Parts score, what do you call these?
« on: September 05, 2007, 12:15:00 pm »
Hey guys,

I scored a bunch of old parts off a guy here in town.
Took what I wanted from the pile and was going to offer the rest to anyone interested, using the B/S/T area in hopes to recoup some of my investment.

However, I have no idea what some of these parts are called.
(other than junk, ha ha I beat you all to it that time!)

Anyway, I was hoping some of you keen observers could take a peek and shout out your answers in a less than orderly fashion.

Now before I get 12 posts stating 'buttons' I'd like to direct your attention to the 2nd picture...

In the middle of the left edge of the picture, there are a bunch of clear plastic spacers that go between the control panel and the button. They are labeled Fire, Jump etc... That's one batch I'd like a name for.

Just to the right of that are the big white switches they put on the back panels to cut the power if you open the cabinet. Is it called an intrusion cutoff switch?

Then there are some transformers that I could use a little info on as well.

If you see anything of interest to you, by all means let me know.

Thanks!

I've added some text to the pics.  The red circled parts are the insides of the red rectangle parts - put them together with a light bulb to end up with illuminated pushbuttons.  Here's an assembly diagram:
http://www.happcontrols.com/pushbuttons/installation_illuminated.htm

Circled in yellow is a cabinet interlock switch:

Rectangle in blue are leaf switch button holders - of which I could use 2:

I believe those are called "clear plastic labelled spacers"

A surplus store up the road has a large box of leafswitches for $0.50 ea....

Anyone in the Toronto area can head over to Active Surplus to get them.  If there's interest, I'll go buy a bunch and ship them out.

Angry_Radish - He still had a lot of stuff (Juke, pins, etc) when I left last week, but he was in the process of moving so who knows if he sold em yet or not.

Paladin - Thanks.

RayB - Wow, I've amazed myself!

Robot8319 - return PM sent

Rest - Are there supposed to be 3 different widths of these leaf switch spacers?
Seems like that's what I have here.

I'm getting some pictures together and could use some suggestions on fair pricing.
No clue what shipping would be either.

WHA!!!? I was just there on Sunday. Where were these?!?

PS, speaking of Active, I found these little tiny microswitches, that look just like cherrys but about 1/4" long. I am tempted to try and build a tiny joystick... heheh

the aisle with all the other switches, on a high shelf (top shelf?)  There are 2 boxes of them.  Must be like 100 of them.  Thats also where I got my Betson Imperials for $9.95

These are audio transformers.  Large amps (think PA for a store) mainly use a 70v output; you then daisychain the speakers, using those transformers to convert the 70v to the correct wattage/impedance for the speakers you have remote.

They probably have 70v and 35v taps, as well as taps for 4ohms or 8ohms, at different wattages.

You add the wattages you connect and as long as you don't exceed the wattage of the amp, all is good.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

My guess?  Perhaps he had jukes?  They'd be used possibly for external speakers.  Or the background music in an arcade.

I could use 1 ORANGE & 1 GREEN pushbutton (leaf). I need the longer (wood) shaft. I have the switches, so just the buttons. Just want to match the colors on my CP (Left and Right).

He had at least one Juke that I was looking at, couldn't get it going while I was there and wouldn't budge on his price either.

Also have some Square D 20 Amp breakers in the pile. I don't know why. Maybe he had to add some sub-panels or something.
