Can someone please QUICKLY check their Betson trackball

Ok, I just ran into the problem that I have to cut a hole for a Betson Imperial PS2 trackball and I forgot which way it faces. There are two possible directions. I remember I did it wrong last time and had to redo the whole panel.

Can someone check please. Which corner does the cord point towards?

Hmm, has betson rotated their TBs 180 degrees?  Mine has the wires on the bottom right corner.  [shrug]  If it works for you, I guess so.

FWIW, happs once rotated their TBs 90 degrees so the wires were on the upper right corner, then rotated back to the original according to Bob Roberts.  IMO, both that happs rotation and the 180 rotation of the betsons will be better for GT type games with a roller on the top, but the original is better for marble madness.  (Actually, MM had its TBs rotated 45 degrees so both the rollers were 45 degrees off from the bottom, which is perfect for MM.)

Cord is to the lower-right on Betsons.  On the newer casings, the name on the top of the trackball lip will read properly when seated this way.

Man, you guys had me scared for a minute. Lower right is fine too, I can always turn it around.

The mounting diagram I posted is correct for my Betson trackball.  The mouse motions are correct in Windows and in MAME.  Do you guys think I have a "bass ackwards" wired trackball?

maybe you have the RARE kind, mine also has the cord from bottom lower right (reverse from the pic).

As long as it isn't lower left or upper right then I am quite happy.

I barely have enough black vinyl left to recover my Frontline cabinet, redoing the panel on the Super Sprint would mean ordering more.

I am not sure why you wouldn't just plug it and see which way the mouse moves?  That would tell you orientation real quick.  All you would need is a PC w/ a USB connect.

Mine is PS2, not USB and I don't have a computer with PS2 that is actually assembled.

Mine's a PS/2 and it's got arrows embossed into the top of the casing to indicate up, down, left, and right. For what it's worth, the cabling on this one protrudes from the lower right.

mine is ps/2 version as well paige. The way mine works is with the wires going top left corner. And a shameless plug here, RandyT's(groovygamegear) trackball booster kit is excellent. It REALLY does reduce backspin and produces smoother gameplay!

Mine has had that kit in it for ages.

Oh, and for the record it was upside down. I had to turn it around, as my cord was lower right.
