Barry,

I've got a strange one happening.  I cleaned up some more tags and did some more directory cleanup and I'm running into an odd behavior tonight.

On two different PCs, wack the records.rec file as I wanted to start fresh and I launch config.exe.  I select the proper directory and click Generate Library.  The app goes through, scans the directories, and returns my count (32746  8) ) and I click OK so that it will generate the library.

It immediately bounces to the No Errors Found windows and I click OK and it's done.

What gives?  What am I missing?

What path are these mp3's stored in? I am trying to recreate the error but alas i cannot.

I have however fixed the bug when switching to 4 covers with track list, i had not included the file and i also had missed out a check to see if the file exists before loading it. This is now fixed however the cover+track view is stil far from working.

Also fixed the alpha typo on the splash screen...

I stuck in a few more bug fixes so thought i would give you a new version.

DOWNLOAD:
http://rapidshare.de/files/8462546/setup1452.zip.html

Fixed the frame on the video screen it wasn't loading from the skins.

Fixed the video screen window to be flat and not 3D.

I am adding most played and new additions screens to the juke to replace the slow top 20 screen.

Pick a letter any letter X:\Music

Then as usual, Artist\Album for the folder structure.

I dunno what's wrong, but I'm dead in the water.  Strangely, I'm dead in the water on a number of PCs.  Either via Mapped Drive or Mounted Drive, it doesn't matter.

Where does Freebox generate it's temp files, if any?

Some more info for you.

The only way I can get the library to generate is by using the update library option.  And even with it, I can only get it to update in chunks, i.e. a few thousand at a time.

Sometimes it will tell me it found x number of files and immediately pop the error.txt log information.

Othertimes it will tell me it found x number of files and then it will go ahead and add the files.

I'll keep moving on it until I'm done.

Wellll...so much for that idea.  I was on my 5th or 6th go around and I received the following error:

Run-time error '381': Invalid Property array index

Ok, how many albums are you looking at adding? This might be the cause of the invalid array index. You may have actually exceeded the limit.... :o The other problem with the generate library i am looking into now!

Try this config.exe it allows you to resize the window to see the hidden fields etc.. Drag the bottom down that might give you a clue as to what is happening as i just tested it with 146 albums i copied to a new folder.. C:\WORK CDS\ and it worked fine..

DOWNLOAD:
http://rapidshare.de/files/8672647/config.zip.html

Just a thought but is it creating an error.txt file and is there anything in there?

I recently tried this jukebox software and I had some problems.  It said that almost all of my MP3s were corrupt.  Does this program work with MP3s that have ID3v2 tags?  Most of my MP3s have the cover art and a large CD review embedded in the tags and I am wondering if that is the issue.  SK jukebox doesn't seem to have any problems with the MP3s but there are a couple of issues with that program on touch screens right now so I am looking at alternatives.

Thanks for any info on this issue

What's the limit?  I've got over 3000 albums now and according to it's count 31269 files that it finds.

Try this config.exe it allows you to resize the window to see the hidden fields etc.. Drag the bottom down that might give you a clue as to what is happening as i just tested it with 146 albums i copied to a new folder.. C:\WORK CDS\ and it worked fine..

Doesn't really help me.  I see it go through the files on the left hand side, the next 3 boxes are left blank, and the right hand little boxes, I can't see anything on.  They're all scrunched up.

Just a thought but is it creating an error.txt file and is there anything in there?

No error.txt file generated on the first go round, just a quick count of files, and then it pops the No Errors found dialog.  Then, if I select Update Library, the error.txt file comes up with the usual, corrupt files message with various files listed.

Another config.exe for you... There is no reason this one shouldn't work as you said the update button was workng and not the generate button i have now fixed it all up so the routines are very simular. Let me know how you get on... You only need to download this if you having problems building the library.

DOWNLOAD:
http://rapidshare.de/files/8740617/config.zip.html

In the main program i fixed up another bug that was causeing the next song not to always display corretly.

It does the count and then pops Run-Time '53': File Not Found.

Looks like it takes whatever records.rec file exists and deletes it.

::) I think i missed out a check in the code on the file, i was so tired after work yesterday  >:( I will try again tonight, to be honest i am thinking of doing a total re-write of this code and using a seperate DLL or OCX for the config so i can support the tags more comprehensively.

Ideally i want to get you up and running as quick as possible and the re-write may take a little longer than patching the config.exe we have although at the moment we appear to be going backwards not forwards.

I will see what i can do tonight, either way there will be a full release, with both the config.exe and the main app updated. The extent of the updates though will depend on what i feel like after a day at work, i don't want to promise the earth and not deliver.

Thanks again for your support.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the "Free" buttom at the bottom of the table.

On the next screen, scroll down and it will say "Download ticket reserved, please wait 10 seconds" or something similar. The seconds will count down. Then you will (annoyingly) be asked to enter 3 characters that are displayed as an odd colour picture. Do this, click start download and you will get the file....

More Fun and Bugs and/or Features.

Been playing with the skinning tool and made a few, but I need to know how to change the default font color that displays the album information.  Right now I can't find it, thus things like the now playing, etc, are all black and can't be seen in some cases.  (see skinning examples below.)

Also had the chance to hook a 17" touchscreen up to a computer that I'll be using with this app.  I must say, it's quite responsive considering I'm using a 566mhz Celeron Processor with only 256mb of ram running XP.

Here's some things I've noticed, in no particular order:

  • Ability to change base font color needs to be added to the Skin Tool
  • Volume control works well, but, not so well with a touchscreen, it gets choppy as you try to set it.  I don't think this is any big deal, just a notice.
  • Skin tool needs the ability to change all buttons and all screens over to new colors.  Too many are still the base grey.
  • Splash screen also needs the ability to change font, if you're going to allow the splash screen to be skinned, we should probably be able to read what it says.
  • On screensavers, right now I could be wrong, but I don't think you have anything implemented, or if you do, I can't get it to work.  It would be nice to have the app switch over to a full screen visualization, on the same monitor, not a second, that will help avoid screen burn etc.  Am I just not seeing this functionality?
  • All in all, I'm very impressed thus far.  I was in a pool hall two days ago and they happened to have one of the newer jukeboxes with a touchscreen.  The thing was DOG slow and had crap for a selection.

Hoho looks very nice those skins...

Not had much of a chance to test recent versions, but just installed 1472.

I also ran tag&rename over all my mp3's on mass, and removed support for Unicode in the tag fields. This removed all the rubbish and weird characters that would be placed before a lot of album/artist names - meaning my database is now in some kind of order.... a large improvement!

I was wondering what the current status of corrupt mp3 files is? I have several that error out during the db build, which don't have album art or anything in them (I've removed album art from all my mp3's). Is there anything else that is known to cause this?

EDIT: Scrap that. Been playing around with tag editors, and I've found that *completely* removing the IDv2 tag and then replacing it with exactly the same info in a new ID3v2 tag has corrected all my "corrupt mp3" errors (so far...). This points to something in the tags that Freebox did not like, perhaps left over from a previous tag generator? I used Tag&Rename, highlighted the file, Clicked Remove Tag (in id3V2 mode) and then rebuilt the tag from the filname and directory.

If anyone else does this, make sure you have ALL the info you need available outside the id3v2 tag. Often I have found that id3v1 tags or the filename are truncated and incomplete, and obviously this does not give you the year/Genre/Album artist and other info.

WOW Thoose skins look cool, and they will be even cooler with this version that lets you change the BACK, FORWARD and JUMP TO LETTER buttons...

As for screen saver at the moment it just jumps to the now playing screen, however i now have over a week off so i will work on this to provide several different options and the ability to set the time out. I will also add all the suggestions RE: Skintool. Next version of the skin tool will let you skin most of the buttons and the tabs.

Anyway here we go..

All 4 track listings now show the correct tracks... I just need to add the code to enable you to click the tracks to play them, and also the code to scroll these lists then i will release a new version. In this version will also be the improved skin tool that lets you set the default font colour and also the tab and nav bar colours. Along with support in the main EXE for these skinning options.

Here it is,
Cover View Works,
More improvments to the 1024 support (Still a fair bit to do)
Bug Fixes
Supports more skinning features in skintool and also main app.

KNOWN ISSUES
1024 still not fully supported
Covers and track lists only display on Audio not video or karaoke yet.
Only 20 tracks visible using cover + track list.

UPDATE (What i am working on):
I now have the 1024 in at least a usable state for the album view, i fixed up a heap of bugs in the 1024 scaling code. This is still a long way off from working but it is getting there.

Player and Now Playing Re-position correctly when switching resolutions.
Jukebox Centers on screen when switching resolutions.
Selected Resolution now saves and re-loads at start up.
Both 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 are supported full screen.
Skin tool accepts HTML #FFFFFF type colour codes in colour box.
BACK Button on all screens Re-positions correctly when switching resolutions.

I would say 1024 is now a usable option if you have altered the skins correctly, i will make a release tomorrow so you can test for yourselves.

Ok here it is, quite a bit more support for 1024.... To be honest you could run it at this resolution as is, however i want to tweak a few more of the screens so they fill the screen at 1024x768. I could really do with some feedback on this please, mainly pointing out any bugs you find.

Here's a few more skins for you guys to get a look at.  Barry, not sure if you want to add these to the base install, or create a way for these to be imported?  Once you decide, I'll zip them up and get them to you.

The big problem with being alble to change the font background is everything will look very blocky. As all the labels would have a coloured block behind them like the Album labels.

Ok, well, how 'bout a compromise?  How bout just the Now Playing page and the area on the Individual Album view that shows similar information?
