The big problem with being alble to change the font background is everything will look very blocky. As all the labels would have a coloured block behind them like the Album labels.

Ok, well, how 'bout a compromise?

Here is the latest build...

We have some bug fixes and more 1024 support
Improved skin support, such as the import button.

This also comes with the nice inclusion of some skins by Ninja Episode, he has been a great help on the project and i hope you would take time to download his excellent skins (Wood Grain is pure class)...

HOW TO INSTALL THE SKINS.
Once you download them, unzip them into the skins folder and maintain the folder structure...

Then Launch freebox and go into appearence options where you select the skins. You will see a new button here to update your skin list, click that and you are done.

Freebox V1.5.0

Ninja Episode Skins (With Thanks)
http://www.episodekids.com/freeboxskins

NOTE: Skins support the 1024 mode as well as the standard 800x600

UPDATE: The tab.ini files are missing from the included skins, this will be fixed in the next release sorry about that. There have also been a few changes to the skin support to allow ninjaepisode to update his skins.

BUG FIX:
30/12/05
I had found a major bug where incorectly tagged files and in some circumstances correctly tagged ones would not play. I have no re-coded this part of the jukebox (It only affected audio, vides and karaoke were fine) so the next release will have a fix for this.

30/12/05
WOW... Sloppy programming on some new stuff was causing the main exe to consume 350mb of memory. I have now got that down to 125mb, i really don't know if i can get it down any more but it is certainly more responsive now on slower machines.

Here it is, this has a lot of memory saving over the last one so it should be quicker. However i may have broken something in the process so if have let me know.

Also includes the missing tab.ini files for the skins and loads the skins slightly different to accomodate some new features.

Why do I see things like the attached screen.  I'm sure it has to do with my tags, but I can't for the life of me, after running through 4 different tag editors, figure out what the hell is wrong.

As usual, you rock dude.

Couple things tho:

The field to enter the PIN, needs to be limited to 1-9 input since that is all the keypad you're using has.
I entered a PIN that had a 0 in it, and it took it, since I was able to input it, but, had I not had a keyboard hooked up, which will be the case in my touchscreen configuration, I wouldn't be able to enter that 0.

Any thoughts on the tagging issue?

Now working fine.  Thanks!

Ninjaepisode's Tag issue:
I will have to catch you on msn to check this out some more, you could try re-launching the config.exe and see how many songs it says that album should have...

I think i have fixed it, it will happen if your ID3V2 tag is there but the fields are blank. I have now added a fix for the jukebox and it displays Empty Tag if this is the case and lists all the tracks. Give me a shout on MSN and i'll send you a test exe over. If it works i will release it on here with the pin logging fix in and a couple of others things i have just fixed up. ;)

Alrighty, I'll check with you there.  FWIW, I'm curious what ID3V2 tag fields you're speaking of.  As far as I can tell, both ID3V2 and V1 are filled in.

It fixes the error reported by ninjaepisode as well as a few others we found during the night.

Hello Barry

some new wishes from me. :D
In the last time I used often the random carosel - an very nice function  ;). I have some CDs (like from Christmas) I don`t like to hear in the carosel play. The most Cd's I have, I like to hear in the random function. So I must take every CD alone to put to the carosel. That's take a lot of time. I think, its better to generate a nice little button ADD ALL to the
random carosel. If I add new albums to the freebox with the config program, I think the new albums are not to find in the Excluded Album carosel? Its a little bug?  :P
The Albums not sorted alphabetical, that is complicated if you look for an special Album.

About the starting 4 cover bug:
I reinstall the complete freebox program, delete all the files in the freebox directory. Install new, save in the appearance options the 6 cover skin, and it starts new again with the 4 Cover skin. But I like the 6 Cover skin.  :-\

Karli,

make sure the freebox.ini file is deleted completely before you reinstall.

Hi Barry,

many thanks for the ADD ON button in the carousel view. I like it. :D
I use only the 800x600 view in METAL Skin, that's the maximum for my IBM touchscreen. So, all informations from myself are only for the 800x600 sight.
The Button Random On - the last one over the play start/stop buttons is cut on
the bottomside - dint know why.  ???

I delete the complete old installation, inclusive all ini or what ever other files, then install the newest version today, but after the installation I save 6 or 12 coversight
close the application, starts new, but I can see only the 4 cover sight again.
If I look into the configuration the point is in the 4 Cover sight.
I don`t know. I also check the 1024x768 the same solution - 4 cover.
Hope you can find out anything. :-\

Regards

Karli

I missed out a couple of ini files for the skins in the last release... Sorry about that. It will not affect operation but means some parts of the skins don't look quite how they should. I will fix this in the next release which will probably be tomorrow. Sorry about that guys but i have only had 6 hours sleep in 2 days, guess it makes me a bit forgetfull  ;D

Ok this doesn't have everything in it i wanted to get in so you will have to excuse me here. I spent most of the night recoding the config.exe, this is included as config 2.exe and the original is still there. This is incase anyone cannot use the new config, however i do need people to test the new one because it should no longer hand on bad tags and it supports WMA tags. Obviously any bugs let me know ASAP...

Here is what else i did...

BUG: Track list does not set to the fore colour selected in the skintool. (FIXED)
BUG: The labels on the now playing screen do not pick up the fore colour either. (FIXED)
BUG: Top 20 Title is not picking up the forecolour. (FIXED)
BUG: Tack list with covers, track list is not picking up the forecolour. (FIXED)

BUG: Album Cover Nav bar needs moving down slightly. (FIXED)
BUG: Adds songs to history from random play even if the check box isn't checked. (FIXED)
BUG: Doesn't hide track lists in 4 cover view if no album (See end of collection) (FIXED)
BUG: Keyboard is not reading right away (IMPROVED)

Ini files are missing from the skins (FIXED)

Cover not found image incorrect in chalkboard skin (FIXED)

Inlcude Chalkboard skin (ADDED)

Add global colour copy to skintool. (ADDED)

Some Speed Increases. (IMPROVED)

Load Background into the pin button and the play now/next features. (ADDED)

1024x768 Fixes....

Update all the default skins to support 1024 x 768 (DONE, Except Christmas)

Center the credit display on 1024 (DONE)

For anyone checking out this thread, I highly recommend this program if you have a large collection.  I found this a few days ago and this is very promising.  I have tried PCJukebox, Nordbeat, Partytime Jukebox and others from Drews' list, and this is the first one to meet all my needs.  Also, Barcrest is very easy to get a hold of since he has been working like crazy on it, he is usually online.

I have tried installing this 3X & keep getting the following error:
Run-time error '9'
Subscript out of range

Then it boots me out. Anyone else running into this?

Yes, uninstall, try the latest setup that he has and be sure to use config2 when setting up your library.  Barcrest got me straightened out with the exact same issue.

I have tried installing this 3X & keep getting the following error:
Run-time error '9'
Subscript out of range

Then it boots me out. Anyone else running into this?

Ok, sounds like you are not running the config correctly. Which is perfectly understandable as there isn't really a manual to speak off...

1/ Go into the installation folder and delete any files that end in .REC there should be 3 Records.rec Videos.Rec and Karaoke.Rec if there are less don't worry just delete them.

2/ Launch Config 2.exe and browse to the folder where your music is.

3/ Click Generate Library.

4/ Close the config.

5/ Launch Freebox.

If that all works repeat steps 2 - 4 for your karaoke and video making sure you select the correct database from the drop down selector bellow the folder list.

Let me know how you get on, if it doesn't work then get straight back to me or give me a shout on MSN. Barcrest@hotmail.com

Regards
BB

UPDATE:

I recreated your error, you must have run the app without launching the config so ther was no records.rec file. I will add some code to catch that bug, but if you follow the instructions above you will be fine.

Hi Barcrest

On version 1604.

Whilst on audio: -

2) I had run time error '92' when selecting an album and play now.

Could you please fix these for me thanks.
