Different Types of Coin Apparatus
« on: October 21, 2004, 11:28:31 am »
Fellow MAMERS,

I am brand new to the whole bulid your own arcade thing and I had a question about the different types of coin apparatus. What is the difference/function of the coin door, coin compariotr, OVER/Under, and Coin Mech? And what is that black plate underneath the coin door with a lock on it? What I want is a regular two token slot coin door that accepts both tokens and quarters. If anybody could explain the differences and functions of the above and help me out a little bit I'd be very thankful. Thanks.

All of them do one thing, Accept the Tokens/Coins.

Coin Door -  a door that opens and consist of a COIN MECH
when has a coin entry to slide down to the MECH.
and trigger a coin switch for credit. or just to
cover that nasty hole you have.

Coin Mech - is what make TOKENS/COINS to be accepted or
                    rejected.

The bottom plate of a over/under door consist a bucket that hold TOKENS/COINS and has a lock on it so no one stills your TOKENS/COINS.

Comparitor - accepts different type of COINS and COMPARE which one is put in and route it for the right credit assigned.

If you need a COIN MECH that will just accept ANTYHING without comparing it, take a look here.

or maybe you can make one yourself.

Here is a good place to really look at what a coin door is.
