This is great!  It really helps narrow the list on what's hot and what's not on a list of games that's some 4,500 or so titles deep.
Dumb questions deserve dumb answers.

I am not gonna list mide cuase its already been listed by all of you but, I am adding this to my list cause seems like you guys all forgot the most Quarter Sucking games ever made.

A. Space Invaders
B. Pong

I can't belive none of you have this in your list...SHAME..SHAME...ahh what a SHAME....  :P

They may be "classics", but I wouldn't consider either particularly fun.

Personally, my biggest surprise is seeing Smash TV listed so many times...

I'm not sure what that means, but if it refers to any of the three games mentioned above, it's really a lost cause for me.  No matter how intense any of the above games get, it won't make them any more fun for me.

Quick Note:  hyiu - The Metal Slug games are unique separate games (except X and 2 which I've combined), so anyone who wants to vote for these games should vote on them separately.  If you love all 3, then vote for all three.  For your top 20 I made MS1 3rd, MS2/X 4th, and MS3 5th and slid every other game down two slots.

On the other hand, I feel that the SFII games are just updates or tweaks of other versions, so the SFII games are counted as the same game.  My logic is this:  I want someone to be able to grab this top 100 list and just plug the 100 games in.  In the case of the Metal Slug games, I feel they are unique enough that someone may want all three.  However, in the case of the SFII games I feel someone is more likely to just find the best of them and play that game, probably never playing the other versions.

I thought about automating this and it wouldn't be hard to do in HTML/PHP/MySQL, but I think it needs to be done in Java because the game list is so big. I don't do Java though.

This is a very cool idea. This should be up on a website with an online submit form and results calculated on the fly.

Technically, it isn't very hard to do. The challenge would be to come up with a good UI for submitting games ranking (just choosing 20 games from a list of 5000 isn

You could look at the wat MAWS does it. That site just lets you give each game a score. Much easier to do than entering a selection of 20 (+added bonus games)

AgentDavis:

If you end up having to do this in Excel, I've written a macro that will parse the data copied from the webpage into columns by ranking number and game. It will also let you add a member name if you want.

It saves a lot of time trying to manually extract this data from the string.

Let me know if you want it.

Edit: I've also added functionality to do a fuzzy match on game names so that you can easily change incorrect spellings (missing periods, commas etc.)

This is a better way than ranking each game i think., because some games people either love or hate, and that brings down their averages.

Updated - 9/24!!  I'm back and ready to keep this post alive!  I've finally gotten around to testing out some macros that FractalWalk sent me, so thanks to his work I'll be able to keep this post updated.  Let's get this thing going again and see some new top 20's.

If you haven't done so, please take a minute to read the first page that has the updated guidelines and new top 100.

Snaake, can you please modify that post and reformat your list, with numbers and capitals in correct places?  Comments are fine, but put them in a paragraph at the end.  I have to plug these lists into excel and if they aren't formatted then its a lot more work.
