I just realized that who ever did that, they took the time to counter sink the joystick screws, but left the random wood screws...  :lol

Joysticks are probably screwed in from the bottom.

I also have one bolted to a tool stand.

You forgot about the buttons designed for massive mutant hands.  All cabinets need them. Then look at the aesthetic of those wires being left bare and exposed like that.  I believe that this is a perfect interpretation of the struggles the builder has experienced in life.
