Clear Coin Reject for Happ coin doors?
« on: September 05, 2014, 11:16:40 am »
I have a 4 player Happ coin door that came with yellow coin reject buttons. I am building a new arcade that will make heavy use of RGB leds. I would LOVE to stick some behind the coin reject buttons, but would prefer clear ones so the color looks right.

I searched Happ's website and even called to ask them, they don't have clear buttons. Is there maybe another company that makes clear coin reject buttons that could be made to work? Anybody have experience trying to make their own?

Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Never seen clear ones. Mainly red.

I just got a 2 player door with the yellow buttons.  I am going to experiment with using RGB strips to light them this weekend to see what it gets me.  I know I will be limited but I think I can get close to quite a few colors.. the yellow tint doesn't look too saturated.  If I have any luck I will post my results.  In the meantime, if you can come up with clear or opaque buttons, post it please.

I've done the yellow coin door buttons with blue LEDs and gotten good results.

Just an FYI, I used 5050 RGB strips (4 segments, 12 rgb LED's total) to illuminate these reject buttons and the results are decent.  here is some pics:
Blue

Red

Green

White

For white I dialed down the red and green to allow the blue to overcome the yellow tint.  Full white came out yellow, which of course is expected with yellow tinted buttons.  The rest are just maxing the value of each color.  Some hybrid colors were difficult with the yellow tint, but the results overall aren't bad.  The cool thing is I can control this with my LEDWiz and make it change with the game or with the cabinet lighting..
