Seat replacement
« on: August 10, 2014, 06:06:55 am »
Hi all, I have been wanting to replace the seats on my twin cab for a while now as the Namco seats just don't cut the mustard when wanting to play for extended times, as you can imagine the plastic isn't forgiving on my backside.

I bought a pair of Corsa reclinable car seats for my NSX but they didn't give the weight saving I was after so instead of reselling them I put them to good use on the cab. Took about 4 hours this afternoon from start to finish, now I just need to figure out a new speaker solution as the Namcos had speakers in the head rest....

It's essentially why I decided to build instead of buy btw... considering I'd need a pc wheel, and a flat screen upgrade the only thing I'd actually use on a cab would be the shell, and those plastic seats just don't cut it for me.

Looks nice man.

So the speakers... are those the only speakers in the cab or just for surround?  If they are just extra speakers I would probably mount them under the seat.

Speakers are surround only but give a nice effect on some PC games when cars are coming up behind you. I have the audio amps and 8 inch subwoofers in the metal base of the seat which work nicely so I might just add some very small 2 inch speakers to the head rest, ie embed them into the seat and make custom grills.

Watch this space...

You might be able to mount something behind the little holes in the back of each seat.  Then again those are cloth seats and those are "anti-stank" vent holes, so I dunno.  ;)

I just replaced the seats in the NSX and now have a pair of spare black leather, all alloy, electric bucket seats that I might mount on the cab and run a 12v adapter to for extra thrills. I think they look heaps better than the corsa's I just put on and the electric recline and forward back would be perfect for the ladies and kids.

Help me decide what to do guys  ???

I think the leather ones would look much better, they just seem more apt for a Ridge Racer game.

As much as I hate leather sticking to my butt in a real car... indoors it's the only way to go as you can wipe it down.  Looks better too.

Try wiping them down with some turtle wax Formula 2001 super protectant.

Good point but the problem is I don't have ridge racer loaded on here, only networked model 2 and virtua racing. I hate the fact so many cool games cant be linked

Completely off topic, but I was just browsing for phone accessories and Verizon refers to fake leather as "Vegan Leather"..   :laugh2:

Go with the leather seats, they look way better.
