can someone help me with LEDBlinky setup
« on: July 31, 2014, 05:59:28 pm »
I am in the LEDBlinky Input Map program.  My LED-Wiz shows up, i can click on each port and the button will light up.  i assign the buttons to P1B1, Red, whatever... but in the Input Codes, I cant get it to recognize the pushbutton when I press it.  Am i doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

I have a different question now!
Is it possible to have buttons animated during gameplay? Like having a secondary fire button glowing on/off? I set one up to do just that, but it seems it only animates while in hyperspin, but once in game its just solid color.

Have you tested your buttons with notepad or whatever to make sure they are sending keystrokes first?  If you can send the keystroke to notepad, you should be able to send it to ledblinky when assigning keys to lights.  Some controllers require you load a config file before they work, so I would make sure that in windows the controller is up and running and working.

If the buttons ARE working, can you assign an input code with the keyboard?

I'm using two GP-Wiz's. I haven't tested notepad, but I know they work because I was playing Mame.

after much fiddling, I figured it out the answer to my original question.. Seems you have to manually enter each one as JOYCODE_1_BUTTON1 or whatever it is.

From what I read on it, you can run an animation AND the colors, but the animations will only run on the buttons not assigned.  If the button you want to flash is assigned as a play button, I would think you could alter the mame.xml or controls.ini(dat) file to tell it that you have fewer buttons, which will then not light that button with the control color and allow an animation to run on it.  Just speculating here, I haven't tried to run animations in a game.

Using the Controls Editor you can import in a mame game and then assign one of the LEDWiz built-in blinking values to the button(s) you want to blink. You'll also have to assign the colors for the other buttons.
Robots will kill you.
