Maybe show them this:

The buttons here clearly almost touch.

Now something's wrong with the art?  What's wrong with the art?  It's lifted right from the SF II Bezel design.

If you move the buttons and sticks for the outside players,  it isnt going to line up with your art, thats all I meant.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Just tell them the button spacing is too far apart, and you want it to be closer to the original Capcom style.

Then also tell them that the angled joysticks for P3 and P4 are not going to work, they might need to re-position the buttons for them too.

That's all. It shouldn't be too hard for them to re-drill. Especially if they are a "business", they probably have access to a CNC anyways.

Look at it this way bro, at least you didn't ruin a classic Williams cab by strapping an aircraft carrier made from 2x4s that was painted as if it were coated in black nail polish.  Or make something with so many admin buttons it lioks like Darth Vaders chest plate. It could be much worse.
I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. I can't stand it when people destroy an original cabinet for MAME/HS

I don't know what to do.  I can't send them this thread and be like, "HERE, SEE!"

Now something's wrong with the art?  What's wrong with the art?  It's lifted right from the SF II Bezel design.

Will the buttons being far apart effect game play?  I get there's a little more space between buttons, but hitting all three at once, will that be problematic?

Could someone write me a concise and professional assessment of what's wrong with this control panel?  Something I could forward on to them?  I would really appreciate it.  Because you guys are right, if things are really wrong and problematic and going to make gameplay not fun, I'm not sure it makes sense to pay what I'm paying.

So bummed out these issues happened.  I'm not as concerned about the 45 angle as the buttons.  I got this primarily to play street fighter and if that's going to play awkward now, I need to know.  What do you guys think?
I dont think you really are bummed. You have had a couple of post's from, Do ya like my carpet tiles? Hey here's my Pede of SF, to can someone for $300 change my monitor. Now you are asking someone to write you letter. Pass the buck huh? phun intended......
You said they never contacted you on stuff to go forward on it, for furter designs. What kind of deal was that? umm red flags...
It really seams like ego stroking & getting some one else to do your business, for free of throwing money at them.
But you are not worried about the joy's being angled, just the buttons????
This just seems to be more of blowing smoke up the cornhole.
So dont try to say again some people are acting like babies like before.
Once again you asked what do you think.

Builder told me my buttons were 1.5" spaced apart center to center.  If that's the case, it should play fine.  If they are closer to 2" then I will say something / open a Pay Pal dispute against him.  I emailed him this morning asking him to confirm.  We'll see.

I'm just over this whole thing.  You guys have sucked the fun out of this thing for me.  Thank you.

It really is Saint's fault.  He angled the P3 and P4 joysticks in the last edition of his book.

You should have taken BadMouth's advice when he offered it during your CP planning stages. No one is trying to intentionally ruin your fun. Seriously. We're trying to be constructive with the criticism. We're not KLOV.

Having said that, if your "fun" hinges on what a bunch of people who you have never met and probably will never meet think of your project, you need to re-examine why you would post a thread titled, "What do you think of my custom Street Fighter II: CE MAME Pedestal?"

File a "not as ordered" chargeback now.  If he ships it anyway, refuse delivery.  You're screwed once you sign for it.

They'll work with you once you threaten the funds.  900% profit is almost as good as 1200%.

(My guess - 1.95" from center to center of buttons on player 1 and 2)

Just eyeballing it, I was going to say a bit more than 1 3/4, so I'll go 1 7/8?

Here's what they gave me.

Just measured and your buttons are 1.625" C-C apart (1 5/8)

I had then hold shipment.  Can someone. Measure this out and share a photo of how your hands rest on it.  Does it feel comfortable? Thanks.  In a 3 hour meeting and want to get this guy feedback ASAP.  Appreciate your help.

I just found out that some things have changed: KLOV got him to flame out faster than BYOAC. Hmm.

FWIW, I have spacing of 1.75" on my NAOMI showcase and those buttons look quite a bit closer together than shown on kaneda's panel.

Just measured and your buttons are 1.625" C-C apart (1 5/8)

Funny thing is that according to a couple pieces of artwork that turned up after a quick internet search, that's what the spacing is.
Nobody complained about this layout and it appears to be around that spacing: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,134816.0.html

Can someone with a straight 6 layout on a dynamo cab measure?

Maybe they're using undersized buttons.  ;D

Get some cardboard, and cut-out a prototype. This is the best way for you to figure out what is most comfortable for hours of play. It'll take 20 mins of your time. I like to do these things while taking a dump. Time saved there.

This is the best I got for the Dynamo, but if you look they are 1.75".  At least to me but I have bad eyes, no joke.

And guys, what's the center to center distance I should tell them the buttons should be apart? For optimal SF play.
Get some cardboard, and cut-out a prototype. This is the best way for you to figure out what is most comfortable for hours of play. It'll take 20 mins of your time. I like to do these things while taking a dump. Time saved there.

This is just getting funny...everyone cries my buttons are too far apart.  So I pause build  Guy agrees to re-do it.  He tells me they are 1.65" apart...then I ask for the proper spacing and people are sending my images with 1.75" apart.  That's wider than the size everyone is saying is incorrect.  If anyone could help here, much appreciated.

Take a piece of paper and drop some dots on 1 5/8" or whatever they told you apart and see if it works for you.  Modify accordingly.  That is what is optimal, whatever works best FOR YOU.  That's the beauty of custom.

Hell, Andre the Giant would have probably had buttons 3" apart, and everyone here would have tore him a new one over it, but hey, its would have worked for him.

Also, your bat tops are matte instead of glossy from the pics of the originals, so that will probably affect playability  :o

I'd tell him to put a ruler/tape measure up to what he has and send YOU the photo. Maybe it's just my eyes, but yours look closer to 2" than what shows up there.

I made mine 1 1/2" horizontally and 1 3/8" vertically spaced and it's pretty comfy. Honestly 1 3/8" all around would be nice imo. I don't think they can get much closer than that without the nuts rubbing together.  >:D

The buttons should touch.  That's why they have such a wide bezel around them.

The laziness and defiance you show is becoming painful to watch.

I know, I know ... you are busy meeting with high-powered executives from major brands (which you drive to in your Shelby) and the rest of us aren't.   :whap

Maybe your Google is broken.

The CP that you show above as an example has 1.5" spacing for buttons. 1.5" was pretty standard. The panel on my big blue uses 1.5" (in the standard SF 6 layout).

BTW, looking at the picture of your panel, any two buttons end-to-end measured from one side to the other looks wider than the diameter of your trackball hole. Spacing at 1.75" would bring that distance in at under 3". I'm betting that trackball hole is 3.25". I really doubt your guy used 1 5/8". By which I mean "he didn't".

Thanks.  I went to Chinatown Fair arcade tonight to measure, and SF buttons are between 1 3/8 and 1 7/16. There's no way mine are 1 5/8 just based upon the spacing between the buttons.  They must be closer to 2".  Real easy to slide a ruler a 1/4 to get what you're looking for.  Plus I asked him to take a photo of the ruler with the buttons.  Never got that, just got his numbers with no visual proof.

I'm going to go 1 3/8 all around...both horizontally and vertically.  Any objections to that?

The picture is funny in it's own right, but what made me laugh harder, is envisioning a grown man sitting at his computer desk photoshopping a bunch of jolly rods on poor kaneda's pedestal.
