Galaga
« on: March 18, 2013, 05:12:32 pm »
Is there anything better than a good game of Galaga when everything is clicking?  Bonus round is coming off like fish in a barrel, twin guns a-blazing through all the levels, those little ---daisies--- unable to anticipate your next salvo.  Ahhhhh sweet victory.

I love the sound of the music that plays when you get your captured ship back.

Pretty much the reason I spend way too much time and money restoring my cab.

Ha - I *just* finished a session and saw this post.

I know what you mean... I like the little bits of attention to details in the game... such as being able to fire whilst you are being captured. Shot my capturing ship one that way though  :banghead:

Galaga was the reason I built a dedicated Tate cab- LOVE that game.  I now have 25" CRT vertical goodness and Galaga high score contests with my buddies.  I'm losing with 190,000ish on stock slow fire.

Heck Yeah! It's one of my grails and I should have one soon.

Love Galaga. I prefer normal fire speed, but sometimes I just want to play for an hour and will play fast shoot.

And there's also the common mis-pronounciation guh-LAY-guh.

I feel the same way with Robotron.
Acing a Mikey level, clearing a Tank level before a single shot is fired from them, passing a zombie (wave 9) level without dying...is all akin to the same feeling of VICTOLY!

Robotron was on the list of games which did not see many of my quarters - i suck at games and it didn't provide a lot of game time per coin.  Actually, the list had most games on it, I must admit, but Galaga would always get the coinage.  Sometimes Xevious as well, could play that for some time on a single quarter, but it was not nearly as entertaining as the big "G" :)

Thanks for this thread, it nudged me to get Galaga working on my set-up. A good game for the little'uns I expect. That said they seemed pretty happy with Robotron today.
On forums jimmer speaks for himself as a Defender fan, not as proprietor of www.jbgaming.co.uk  << Is that advertising or disclosure ? or both ?

Do they exist anywhere outside of the game? Can't run audacity etc on my dos machine. Might bug people in the office with a galaga ringtone...

Clearly you're not a golfer

No, I'm clearly not, but now that you mentioned it, I think you were alluring to it by quoting something. I think I'm recognizing Big Lebowski, but that was kind of about bowling, not golfing, unless I'm completely confused.

Anyway in order to "save face" I have no choice but to continue forward with anti-galaga sentiment!
