Well its taken a while but all the plaques have been signed and returned to me so I was able to finally mount them all.

I used the 3M carbon fiber vinyl to wrap the bezel as I wanted to dress it up but not have it look too out of place.

All I have left to do now is mount Milt Loper's plaque on the control panel.

Yeah that was sadly the biggest loss of the project, nobody knows where Hal is and I have tried looking hard for him. I even had his plaque made just in case I one day find him.

Sorry! Just being honest.

The plaques themselves are absolutely awesome, don't get me wrong. But the way they are mounted takes the "clean" out of this amazing project. It's one of the most beautiful restores out there and I really love the entire look and feel ...... Just not the bezel

Thank you Sir. Paperboy is my all-time favorite so I knew I had to make it the best machine in my collection. Although I must admit now I am addicted to exploring what can be done with builds going forward, taking the time to make the cabs more than 'just another' restore really peaks my interest.

Yeah I understand what you are saying, but for me the plaques and what/who they represent are far more important than design aesthetics

Maximus This really is a thing of gaming beauty. So many memories of banging massive 10ps into this machine in a local arcade. Is that all of the article? I'd like to see them do more description of the cab itself, not the dude next to it...whoever that guy is....hahaha. But, seriously, I like the article as written, I just think another full page (or 2) of pics with blurbs about them would've been excellent.

Hah, just got my Game Informer today and was flipping through it and I'm like "hey, I know that guy!!!" So of course I came straight here to make sure it was posted. Congrats Joel! That's a really fine machine, and I think the signature plaques really make it special. That's a project to be proud of for sure.

I had no idea the original Paperboy had no sideart to speak of until I read that Game Informer. The article did remind me of the generic Atari cab art. As a matter of fact, just a few days ago, my wife and I played a modified "Pole Position" cabinet at COSI (an interactive science museum type place here in Columbus, OH)'s Mythbusters exhibit a few days ago. They simply but black tape over any text on the sides (but left Atari's Pole Position art) and replaced the marquee with "Blind Driver". There was no screen and you had to drive blindly while someone else stands on the side of the cab directing you.

Anyway, in the same Game Informer, I found out that the Captain N cartoon was originally going to be called Paperboy and center on that game and its star!

find your article because I thought making a paperboy and I got an original command, add a photo.
here in Argentina it is almost impossible to find a complete original arcade paperboy, maybe get a pcb running, hopefully.
but I planned to use a PC to emulate the game.
I have understood that the furniture is exactly like the sprint championship, right?
days ago I search on the web the measures or plans cabinet but can not.
could you help me with that?
You could spend even a few external measures cabinet ?, then I can handle it for the rest, thanks to yours photos. (although I can not see them all, do not know why ...)

I didn't know he sold it - I thought this was supposed to be a forever cabinet. Kinda makes me sad.

Yeah i think he got burnt out, he was cranking out projects one after another. The pinball seemed to be the breaking point, and plus forum drama kinda drove him over to KLOV.

Naw, he just fell in love with actual pins and dedicated machines. He still Griffs those out when he gets a chance. For a lot of guys, MAME is a gateway drug.

I can see the allure of dedicated machines. Yeah, being able to play 50,000 games sounds awesome, but there is something to be said about the purity of authenticity.

I did ask him about the paperboy on his facebookpage: What happened with the paperboy cabinet? Or is this banner an old picture before you made the special edition

Arcade Icons: That is my replacement Paperboy. The original is now part of the Arcade Expo collection in Banning CA

So, good to see everybody can enjoy the cabinet and have another paperboy cabinet for maybe a new project

If I had the money and pace, I would have a mancave with dedicated machines to ... so, mame is for the poor I believe

I'm pretty sure I've spent less on any of my dedicated cabs than some people here spend on their MAME cabs.
