For those who don't follow BYOAC as religiously as others the New Republic Flight Trainer will not be completed. See here:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,137798.msg1422637.html#msg1422637The short short version: I canned it for personal reasons.
I did get R2-MU up and working - which was great and all, but without the speeder the project felt half complete...because it was. Well my Starfighter build needed a computer so I ripped half the guts out of R2-MU and did some research and soul searching. You know what that soul searching led to? A deep and dark desire to have draught beer in the garage - aaaaaand might as well have a blue tooth speaker system too and wouldn't you know R2 has speakers.
After several months of doing other things I finally go around to completing R2-AU. He serves delicious liquid gold and is an Auburn fan.
He serves from a 5l draught keg (Heineken or New Castle) but will likely be upgraded with a CO
2 system eventually to serve gravity brews as well (We have some decent micro breweries on the river). He also is a blue-tooth enable speaker system. Yes the tap is a light saber and yes I know it's Vader's and not Luke's. It was the candle holder available from thinkgeek and looks tons better than one of those plastic jobbies from Wally-World while being a 1/5 of the price of other metal ones.
He has a chiller built in and is battery capable tho right now he is decidedly corded.
It took me a while to get the fittings straight and going from those compressed non-standard draughtkegs to regular tower is no easy feat but doable with the right connections and a lot of clamps. You're probably saying - well isn't beer going to get all over R2? Yep. He wipes up and it just adds patina. He's not a display piece - trust me, he has a few warts and little beer juice will only add a rich layer of filth befitting a droid such as him.
Oh, and in case you're wondering the maßkrug is crafted by my old landlord, a porzellanfabrik in Bavaria, for my unit, Eagle 2/2 SCR. I have a lidded one that is engraved but this is my drinker.
