FrancoB used to sell custom cut ones, don't know if he's still in it but shoot him a PM, couldn't hurt.  Also check out the fight stick boards like shoryuken forums because they have a lot of specialty stuff like that for their wee fight sticks.

New version is the cat's ass.  Well done.  :applaud: :applaud: I miss the Spy vs Spy logo tho

Update on the the final pic, we added some shade to the image. This is how it will look before the buttons go in.
Is this the go live version, or a close approximation?  Reason I ask is the shading.  I love it, but it needs to be cleaned up or else you're going to look at it and be annoyed every time you play a game.  Your theme is one of those "why didn't I think of that" themes BTW.  Very cool.

yeah, we'll clean it up before I get it printed. Yeah it's one of those themes that I thought why haven't I seen this done before?

Thanks for the info on the dust washers. I'm still going to use the Spy vs Spy logo somewhere on the machine, just don't know where yet. Maybe on the bezel, of above the coin door.

Hey guys, it's been a while since my last update so here ya go. These first couple of pics are of the old cab sanded down a little. I never was really happy with the original paint job.

Here I have the white side done, and the inside of the control panel is painted white. I'll have black corner brackets on the inside, so's to keep with the theme.

Painted my old spinner from blue to black. This will get a red vinyl decal that says VS and go between the spy -- spy on the panel.

Well this started out as just a control panel overhaul, and has turned into an entire cab project! Does anybody know how to send this thread over to project annoucements?

I just added the t-molding and thought I'd throw the marquee and CP on to see how it's looking.

HS is fine, I just don't see why anybody would want the name of the FE on their cab.  What if something better comes out?  Also, it doesn't really go with the theme.  I used to rock a "MAME" art cab a long time ago (my first) and now kinda cringe when I see them.

Whenever I see the Mame logo on a cab it remonds me of the old Batman movie where in the helicopter they keep a clearly-marked bottle of Shark Repellant.

Nep, if they were all in the same class as yours I wouldn't have anything to complain about.  Be safe in the knowledge that you are the exception and not the rule.  Now untwist those panties and finish up so you can get nominated for the '12 awards.

Here's a little update on where I'm at. when I was cutting my plexi I must have cracked it!  So I can't wire anything up until I order a new piece. I was going to order a piece of smoked plexi for the bezel anyway, it just sucks all that drilling for nothing! This is my fifth time cutting this stuff and never had a problem before. Oh well, enjoy the pics anyway.

Awesome work, turned out very nice!  (well, minus the crack in the plexi... too bad about that, but at least it's easily remedied with a new piece!)

I like alot about this (though I agree with Chuck about the marquee), but the handle on the keyboard drawer (I assume that's a keyboard or other type of easy access drawer) distracts me. Are you going to put a lock on it? I could see curious people opening that up and causing a lot of issues.

Yeah that drawer is for the keyboard. When I built the original cab I just had to have it. To take it out was more work than it was worth, so I just kept it. And I know what you guys are saying about the marquee, but I didn't want to personalize this cab too much. Incase I ever decide to sell it, it should appeal to someone looking for a MAME Arcade Cab. Besides, I think the MAME logo looks cool dressed up like the MAD logo!

A little update. I just got my button art back and it looks awesome on the panel! I screwed up on my bezel art so I had to have it reprinted. :banghead: Should have it any day now.

How in the hell have I not seen this thread before?!?  Great idea, clean artwork, and well implemented.   I really like how you did the player buttons on each side, reversing the buttons and their outer rings. That is a really cool detail.

If I had one suggestion, it would be on the marquee. The rest of your art is so sweet, but that just doesn't look as good as the rest of the cab to me. I would do something in the same design vein as your control panel with buildings or something, darkened enough to where they don't distract, and a big ol spy vs spy logo. Maybe slap an "Acade" below it or something.   I think that would do your control panel justice and keep the theme going throughout the cab.   Something similar in your FE would be sweet as well.

My 2 cents. Kick ass work!

My bezel art came in today. This is a shot of it without my smoked plexi on yet. The last pic is of my VS art on the spinner top. Now I need to wire everything up and tighting up a few loose ends.

Look closer at the marquee, there are buildings! It's funny Shaner that you mentioned the marquee, because your marquee inspired me to do mine. Did you ever get those green stools I suggested?

That is too funny spk, I hadn't noticed somehow. I still think it needs spy vs spy on it instead ;-). It already looks awesome so no loss either way, but it would just send it over the top I think. If you want to hook me up with your AI or psd files, I'll take a stab at it for ya.

No, those stools were awesome, but a little over the top. I'm partial to the standard ol black top bar stool. There is a special place in my butt for them.

Well guys, just got in my bar stools and for me its the icing on the cake. Its like they were made for this cab. Just a few more odds and ends to finish up and this cab is done. So i want to take a minute and thank everyone who shared a thought or suggestion. Special thanks to Bryan and Susan at Paradise Arcade, and Randy-T at GGG for being there with all the amazing toys that help make these projects possible! So until next time, (and there will be a next time I'm sure) See ya around!

beautifully done!   Love the artwork and the overall theme, just everything.   I played Spy vs Spy on the C64 a TON in my youth as well!
