Just kidding, it's a real problem that can be successfully treated over time like an addiction. I hate how the tv show tries to jam in a quick resolution over a week or so.

Well other thant a touch of Charlie Sheen at least he his hording stuff with value. Most the horders I see have plain old crap (in the real sence too if they have animals). He does have some crap (stuffed animals.. some of those claw machines ar full to the top! and other stuff). other than seeming a bit batty (ok more than a bit) there is an upside, he has value in what he is hording at least. I wonder how you collect that much and pay to store it.. that place has to be a small fortune to rent, and he talked about more rental stuff at an airport

I think there's a big difference between someone who fills their house with a bunch of random garbage and a guy who's spend millions of dollars filling a warehouse with old arcade machines. I was more shocked by the attitudes displayed by the woman and the guy moving the equipment than Randy. I think he's just a guy who found an excellent way to advertise his upcoming arcade and was happy to fill the role they required of him.

For example, the bit where they were moving the large arcade machine. They tried to make a big deal about it to add drama to the episode. Randy is right. There's no reason fifteen guys couldn't move that thing. They are supposed to be professional movers! They used it to try and add some tension to the episode and he called them out on it.

I was actually surprised he came off as normal as he did in the episode (based what I have seen various forums ... one bad thread on KLOV about a machine sale comes to mind), aside from the Randykins and the bucket full of hoarded hair.

He had an arcade on the boardwalk before ... and got booted. I don't recall why, but I think he was demanding government funding or something, and he has since made his rant videos on YouTube private, so I can't check. Apparently the place was so bad that not even enthusiastic coin-op folks would go in.

EDIT: For an insider's take on the episode, including a mention that Randy isn't as crazy as they made him look, although he sleeps on a mattress under some pinball machines ...

I've seen exactly 3 episodes of Hoarders in my life, including this one. Under normal circumstances, I can't stand the show as it attempts to mask its exploitation of the mentally ill by offering false solutions to their complex problems.

That said, I had no problem watching this episode. Randy strikes me as an eccentric, not a hoarder. From what I gather, he exploited the ---smurfy--- cable show. Not the other way around. Free moving. Free publicity. Good for him.

Damn it. I cant watch this clip, and I havent seen this episode. I happen to watch this show when its on, and I have seen quite a few episodes, but not this one. Whats the deal? The guy has a ton of arcade/pinball machines in a airplane hanger or something? He hoards mannequins? My work filter sucks harder than a toothless hooker. I never get to see anything.

Collecting is just organized hoarding. If you have a checklist of what you want to have, its collecting. If you just pick up whatever and refuse to let it go, ever, its hoarding.

I think what someone else said earlier nailed it... Randy played them and they were too stupid to even know it!

I loved it when he moved that big section by himself and wouldn't tell them how he did it- I don't blame him for his attitude either (other than getting free help), they were supposed to be the professional movers and they couldn't handle the job.

The other story... again woah! And yeah I thought the daughter was a prize too! Funny... the mother hoarded trash and they were all white trash!

Funny how he said from the beginning that he wanted to share his collection with people open it to the public, the show spins it later and claims that they convinced him to move the arcade to be shared in a public space.

He reminds me of Willy Wonka. Funny how the moving guy jumps to saying that he has an issue and is a hoarder to defend himself. He might be condescending and excentric, but he's definitely as bad as the other hoarders.. I think. I do believe he has a huge issue, definitely since he gave up having friends, family, and admits himself that he has an issue. Plus the dolls w/ real hair? WTF!?

No, they weren't supposed to be professional movers ... that was the lead guy's point in the argument that apparently went on for longer than Randy's entire segment.

The guy may be a little quirky, but hes pretty cool.

If you have never played it, Fascination is incredibly fun and addictive.
(Ive been thinking of building a replica one day... )

We used to have a Fascination parlor in the local amusement park. The announcer really plays a factor into the experience, and watching clips of Randy, you can see he does a great job of it. Lots of personality. Very friendly. A showman. Makes a lot of people happy.

I wouldnt be surprised about him being a bit paranoid, especially in NJ, where its surprising he is still alive... considering the Mob control & Corruption that probably still goes down on there.

at about 1:30, they start filming fascination.

You have a group of players, the bell rings... and a ball is set loose.
You roll the ball, and try to sink it in the holes to create lines.
When the ball fall thru a hole, it lights a light on the backboard.
If you get a full vertical, horizontal, or diagonal line, you win.

The ball I believe is a racketball. Very bouncy.
Theres a glass plate to keep you from cheating, as you have to roll under it.
There are ramps that you have to climb before the ball can enter the field.
Part skill, part luck. (probably more luck than skill, but it feels like its skillful)

Being in a large group, all racing like mad, waiting impatiently for the ball to return.. and just missing getting a line on the next shot.. its just an awesome experience.
Sometimes you hear the bell of someone winning in seconds, and you just cant believe it was possible. Sometimes you hit it, and hearing the bell sound for you, you beating the entire room of people... just makes it.

Its almost a Zen like experience. You can play for hours, and it feel like minutes.

They just moved Randy's stuff to a bigger place. I don't think he is a hoarder, he doesn't have junk laying around like Vicki does. I think he has social problems though, I know I couldn't be a hoarder, I'm a neat freak

The thing that separates this guy from a hoarder for me is that fact that he didn't do this to his house. Every other person I've seen on this show has ruined their personal life by trashing where they live. He called the show on himself -pretty sketchy.

Even though I'm guessing this dude is socially inept, he's got sense enough to get storage. Even in his warehouse, he had rows of games that were powered up, accessible and playable. He's a collector. The collection is ridiculous, but not out of control.
