What to do, what to do?
« on: April 12, 2010, 02:41:52 pm »
I just picked this sucker up on Saturday for $125 (these are not my pics and the seller was NOT getting rid of the Ice Cold Beer).  Hmmm.....

It sort of works but there is a lot of burn-in on the monitor and it needs to be fixed (capped?) or there might be a problem with the board.  The screen displays everything all scrambled so you can't play.  It is in OK shape and I'll have to put in a lot of TLC to get this up to in-house standards but it will be fun.  I've been looking for a "Taito-style" cabinet for a while now and this was only 3.5 miles form me so I couldn't pass it up.  I have no idea what I'm going to do to it though!

Very nice find!  Everyone needs a side project to tinker with.

You shouldn't have taken "no" for an answer.

Go get that Ice Cold Beer!

don't let the cab give you headache, just drive it further down and leave it with me, I'll handle the headaches  :dizzy:

One of my favourite cab designs ... even though I don't have one.

Stencils are available from pr0k.

knievel did some nice work with Taito cabs a while back (although I can't find the thread right now).

Nice catch.

I know if I had a Taito cabinet, I'd turn it into an Elevator Action, or a Puzzle Bobble machine (great party machine, and makes the wife happy) :)

This is it.  I looked at this project a few weeks ago after I missed out on a Taito cab on Craigslist.  I really like this project.

Great find javeryh!

It is definitely my favorite cabinet - they are just so comfortable to play.  The CP is at a perfect height and the monitor is at a perfect angle.  Even before picking it up I've been thinking about doing something similar to what Knievel did to his Taitos - those are two of my favorite MAME cabs.  I'm 75% sure I'm going to laminate the sides although part of me would like to try my hand at stenciling.  For now this is going on the back burner until the middle of the summer.  I have one other cab I want to finish first,,,
