Hallowindow III
« on: September 18, 2009, 02:43:01 pm »
Having bought Hallowindow II last year, I received an email today that the new version is available.  I haven't decided if I am going to get it yet, but I wanted to make sure that everyone else had the chance.  I think he ran out of DVDs last year and then offered it as a download.  Hopefully anyone that wants it will pay for the DVD this year.

http://www.hallowindow.com/

The previews look good.  His work is very high quality.

Man that makes me wish we got more than 5 trick or treaters.  It's just not worth the effort at my house.

I expect higher traffic in my neighborhood this year because of my Hallowindow display last year.

I'm pondering whether I should order the 2 disc combo. I bought the download last year, but that was only hallowindow I, and the eyeball. I would like to have the whole collection.

It is $50 shipped "in Canadian funds". I need to figure out the exchange rate right now.

Oh, and on top of Hallowindow, we are hoping to decorate most of our yard as Alice in Wonderland. My wife has made an Alice dress for our daughter from her own pattern. The store bought pattern wasn't movie authentic...
Next, she'll make her own Queen of Hearts dress. I just don't get into the dressing up aspect of Halloween, so I get to be a card that is painting the roses red. Wife wants me to be the one that gets dragged off to be killed - I think she's a sadistic nut. I'll be an inauthentic 9 of diamonds, thank you very much!

Yeah, but the Hallowindow should definitely attract more visitors.

To get to my picture window you have to walk around the house.  You can't see it from the street.

I ordered the Sauron-like "eye of fire" a few weeks ago -- it's pretty good and was worth the $3.  I also have the Hallowindow download from last year, as well as some free segments I found here that I will combine together in a looping playlist.
I'm not sure I need another set of discs for $50.  Hopefully he offers something more reasonably-priced for download.

I found this on youtube a while back. I tested it on a shower curtain from behind and it looks great. I also didnt project the title at the top by just raising that part above the shower curtain.

I don't know... I get about 500 trick or treaters and it is annoying by the end of the night - and expensive - we spend a lot on candy.

I dunno, guys, Hallowindow is soooo 2008.  Put this one in the same dustbin as the christmas tree light deer and inflatable santas.

LOL yeah, but I have an SVGA projector collecting dust and I have yet to see anyone with something similar around here.  Until I see it at another house, I'll probably keep doing it.

We live just far enough out even the few kids who do live around our place go elsewhere.
And of those few, most have outgrown Halloween.

Would be neat to set up and fart with..... but that's about it.

when I was a teen, I put together an amp and a reverb.
Hid the speaker under the pumpkin on the front porch, then when kids walked up I would say scary things.
It scared one little kid so bad he refused to come on the porch. It made me feel bad so I took the candy out to the end of the sidewalk and told him it was just a trick.

No I'm pretty sure that's assault and quite illegal.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I dunno..... we had the cops called on us one year for chasing kids with a chainsaw.
You want to talk about some flying candy?!
Best Halloween ever. ;D

No chain.... just a crotchety old neighbor that wanted something to ---smurfette--- about.
Cops thought it was hilarious.
This was back when we lived in a pretty standard neighborhood many years ago.

Just bought a princess slide bed for our daughter. Thus, I am poor again and will not be buying a hallowindow disc. I'll just show my disc from last year after dark. Before that, I'll be showing Alice in Wonderland on the window screen to go with our theme.

I was wondering; why not play Mj's Thriller vid? Would be a good tribute as well as a good H-day vid. Plus the music is good.

I wouldn't recommend public tribute to Michael Jackson.

Assult implies intent most of the time.  I don't know that "have some jolly ranchers" is the same as "I intend to harm you".  Just don't shoot it at them out of a potato cannon and you'll be fine.

Hmmm, maybe load up a shotgun shell with those little yellow sour things.
If the sound dont get em going, and if the sting dont get it going, you always have the burn of the sour stuff.

Does anyone know if there is a christmas one like this around as well?

I know there is a old vhs/dvd santa thing that you can display in the single window but the guy wants $200+ for it last time i looked.

There's a short clip of it on your tube just a guy dressed as santa with a black background and a candle and unloads presents and waves to the kids outside id like to try something like that if possible

I remember looking before and didn't find anything to the level of quality of Hallowindow.  Try looking at backyardtheatre.com or other outdoor movie sites.

We ran a test the other night in our front window..  The neighborhood kids who were around thought it was awesome, so it should be a pretty fun Halloween  :)  My wife enjoys decorating for Halloween, and she loves it, so I'm happy  :)

I prefer Hallowindow I & II to III...

I wouldn't recommend public tribute to Michael Jackson.

A tribute to MJ on a day that kids are encouraged to go door to door asking strangers for candy.

You couldn't get much creepier for a theme.

Magic mirror is badass, and I do believe I will be looking into setting one up. It looks quite similar to the one in Snow White, so it should fly with our theme.

Look a little closer into what it is. No video camera necessary.

EDIT: I think I misinterpreted your video camera idea.

Okay, I didn't misinterpret you then.

I have seen the 'floating head' thing before done with a video camera. It was really frikkin cool. It didn't trigger the geek factor though like this did. It's also alot more work.

Shouldn't be that much more work.  Defocus the image some like a bad arcade monitor, put on a black coverall Conan O Brien style and only show your head, and you've got it pretty much nailed.  A decent green screen would really add to the work, though.

It really is a shame that I can't do any of this.  I'd love to try.  Maybe once the kids have outgrown trick or treating and I'm home all night.

That would be cool, having a silhouette of a fire place then the silhouette of a fat guy with a bag appear in front of the fire, then have a silhouette of a guy holding a shot gun off to the side followed by a blast of light...

hallowindow is awesome...i have to try this...although the price is a little steep for something i'll use so little.  i've been looking around the internet for some free alternatives, i've found a few things that may work..but i have to get my old projector back from my sister before i can try it.  i dont want bother taking my good projector down off of the ceiling.

i hope this works out well

lol after seeing your avatar i just had a flash of a imp from doom walking around the window

Whats better than a hallowindow? an interactive one i can see kids ringing the doorbell and the guy who pulls back the curtains back real quick in hallowindow playing on the glass window of the front door or an eye opening up and staring in the direction of the person at the door
