What to do for 23 seconds?
« on: November 02, 2008, 12:04:49 am »
Our sys admins just replaced everyone's mapped drives with a single drive mapping that has all your folders in it.  It's actually a great idea and works well with only one problem.

When you click on your only mapped drive it pauses for 23 seconds before any folders appear.  I've been given many lines of BS for why this happens, but basically I've been told by management to suck it up, Sally.

So now I'm faced with a new dilemma - what to do for 23 seconds every time I want to access my network drive.  Anyone have any ideas?

And yes, I could probably do THAT in 23 seconds, but I am at work and don't even have my own cubicle for cover. :laugh2:

don't worry about it, you are getting paid for doing NOTHING :)

Do it 300 times a day so do the math (23x300)=hours of getting paid for doing NOTHING :) plus 1 hour lunch, 15 minutes x 2 breaks, 2 to 3 times for 30 minutes going to the bathroom and a couple of slacking here and there, BINGO you can call it a DAY and go home and you got PAID FOR IT for doing NOTHING :)

Well you can use 2 or 3 of those seconds to jot down how often this 23 seconds happens to you in a day, and after a month add up the time and show management.  ;)
NO MORE!!

Access the drive once when you get there in the morning and let it sit open for the rest of the day.
