George Carlin R.I.P.
« on: June 23, 2008, 04:35:10 am »
Died of heart failure Sunday 06/22/2008. He was 71.  :'(

George Carlin was my favorite comedian. As someone once told me, he's a good comedian because he doesn't laugh at his own jokes. He'd say something histerically funny and yet keep a serious face at the same time making it all the funnier. Never losing character. And he wasn't afraid to tell things for what they where. I'm gonna miss him.

I was just going to post about this.  Also one of my all time favorites.  I had no idea he had heart problems.  This truly saddens me.

I saw this this morning too :(

I actually just saw his latest HBO special a few days ago and laughed ---my bottom--- off.  He's easily my favorite comedian as well, and he'll definitely be missed.

RIP.  :'(

It completely caught me off guard when I heard of his passing.  Yet another icon of my childhood who has passed away.  I just don't know what to say now.  It truly is sad, but now there are a lot of souls up in heaven laughing uncontrollably for an eternity!   :D

The personification of the term "comic genius"

Though I disagreed with his views on politics and religion (and this isn't the board to get into THAT discussion), he was a brilliant man with a razor-sharp wit.

He will be missed.

"The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A death! What's that... a bonus?!? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you go live in an old age home. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, then, when you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day. You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You drink alcohol, you party, and you get ready for High School. You go to primary school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little boy(girl), you go back, you spend your last 9 months floating with luxuries like central heating, spa, room service on tap, then you finish off as an orgasm!!" - George Carlin

Here's to wishing he was right...

One of his best stand up routines is about how he and Richard Pryor had a heart attack contest.  When Richard decided to burn himself up instead, George Carlin said, "---fudgesicle--- that I'm having another heart attack"

You missed some of his best stuff if you didn't listen to that album.

Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a whampin' and whompin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.

I never heard that one. That's awesome.

He truly was a comedic genious since he rarely ever forgot what he was going to talk about and had it all planned out like a great speech. I especially liked when he made lists of things that are similar and said them all back to back without one slight hitch.  :applaud:

At least he passed away the right way. Unlike many other comedians who went way before their time from overdoses and alcohol.

I used to listen to his 33 1/3 records in high school.
May he rest in peace.
