Ghost in Galaga
« on: June 04, 2005, 01:42:13 pm »
Hey everyone,
I think I have a ghost in my Galaga.  Every so often it decides to rack up credits, and sometimes even start a game.  After this happens, my controls stop working.  Does anyone have any ideas what the problem would be?

This is Arcade Misc.  So I certainly hope he's talking about the actual hardware.

As for the problems, I'd check the grounding strap, and all wire connections.

Yeah,
It's the real deal.
I went through the wiring once allready but I may have overlooked the grounding.  I'll check it again anyways...Thanks for the idea.

Wasn't there a thread a while back about somebody having similar issues due to (I'm not kidding or making this up) light getting inside his cab?  It was triggering some optoelectronics, and happened when his back door was off or coin door was open.  Or something like that.

edit:  Found it- and it was even a Galaga machine:

So, Gootfu, any light getting inside there?  Got a nifty British coin mech?

Even if it's not light triggering the credits, at least you know the trouble with the controls not working is probably related to the rapid-fire credits.  Just gotta figure out what's creating the credits, fix that, and you're probably good.
