MaLa v2.0 is nearing its first beta release, and I'm looking for a small group of genuine testers to help shake it out before a wider release.

What's changed: a full dev migration from Delphi 2007 to Delphi 12, running natively on Windows 10/11. Under the hood: rebuilt video engine, hardware handling, plugin system, and a long list of stability fixes — full rundown on the WIP page. (soon to be updated)
Timing: soft-targeting early August, but this depends on final validation passing cleanly — I'd rather get this right than rush a date.

What I'm after: this is a genuine test round, not an early download. If you're interested, reply below or DM me with:
What MaLa version you're currently running
Your basic cabinet/hardware setup — controls, LED/LCD boards, encoder, etc.
Whether you're able to pull debug logs and report issues back to me

Thanks for sticking with MaLa through the long development and webpage hiatus. The game is not over :-)

Hi loadman!
So glad you are working on a new version!

If nobody volunteer, I can try helping you (starting as early as Wednesday 5th August).
I can send you the cabinet details, it is a basic Core2Duo + Win 7.

This is great news, I never gave up on MaLa. I'm looking forward to updating when it is ready.

It has been a LONG time since I've posted. I decided to upgrade my vertical MAME cab from an 2ghz Athlon and Windows 2000(!) to a Ryzen 5000. This thing has been going for nearly 20 years on the same version of MaLa. My front end setup is really simple, with just a Favorites and Complete lists and a simple Space Invaders moon backdrop as the background.

I've updated my gameroom and pulled stuff out of storage, so I probably don't have the time required to do the Beta justice but I'm really looking forward to progress reports and release. Thanks so much for doing this!

Edit to add: Just saw my last post was 10 years ago, and that was about MaLa too! I never ended up fully updating the machine because it was basically working find and MaLa wouldn't work with what I was considering.
