Anyone using fixed point wireless broadband?

I'm always looking to shave money off my recurring bills.
Currently paying Comcast $50/mo for 10Mbps

My only other option (aside from dropping down to 3Mbps for $40),
is a local company that offers 12Mbps for $35/month via a fixed point wireless connection (antenna on the roof).
I'm pretty sure there is also an initial equipment cost, but long term it would be cheaper.

Anyone use this type of setup?
How reliable is it in bad weather?

We got wireless service late last year at my cabin.  The church camp across the river and several homeowners in the area all went together and paid THE local provider to install 3, yes three, towers to relay the wireless signal into our area.  We are in a pretty isolated mountain area with no cell service or land line phone service, both being around 3 miles down the road. 

Long story short, it works great, even through heavy falling snow and heavy rain.  I am paying for 10Mbps service ($39+$10 tower fee) and have no problem streaming videos from Prime, Hulu, or even "live" tv.  I have the option to bump up speed in 10Mbps incriments for $10 each, but have not found a need to. When it was being installed and they were doing the testing of the connection they were pulling down close to 50Mbps.  I have made phone calls over the connection via Hangouts and voice quality is fine, but there is a touch of latency that you get used to after a bit.  The latency is the only thing that might be an issue if you happen to do online gaming.

The only outages we have had are when the power is out, but that would be the same with any service and the router has no power.

We use it at my building and at 2 other locations, but it is a commercial grade radio (about $35k, which we rent) so maybe a little better than the residential service.  No issues with weather aside from lightning strikes.  Currently using 20x20 (up x down in mbps).

I had more of a residential connection in our Denver branch many years ago.  Overall the service wasn't bad, but it was horrible for VPN, dropped out about 20 times per day long enough to collapse the tunnel.  That was a long time ago though, so I wouldn't necessarily use it as a point of reference.
