lol, another internet expert. When we started selling chemicals and fertilizers I had to meet with the EPA to talk about all the ins and outs of selling restricted chemicals. They didn't care even a little about roundup because it is non-toxic to animals. In fact, they cared more about selling seed that had not been recertified after a few months than they did about Roundup. Rather than buy into all the hype about how much our practices are killing us (the same "us" who live twice as long as we did 70 years ago when we didn't put all these chemicals on plants), I will listen to the experts. Yeah yeah, EPA and all government agencies lie and are brainwashing... blah blah.. go put your tinfoil hat on and get back to working on your conspiracy blog. I will stick to dealing with farmers who actually work the crops and live in the real world.
You can hose your yard down with roundup, kill your grass, and a week later plant new grass and it grows.. it doesn't stick around in the soil.
It is amazing how in one breath you can talk about how these chemicals are killing off life on this planet, yet then talk about how bugs become resistant to those same chemicals... Ever stop to think about how if one species of life can become immune to certain chemicals designed to kill them, other forms of life might actually not be so fragile when it comes to chemicals that in the lab are completely harmless to them?
My favorite part of the book State of Fear by Michael Crichton was when he talked about how back in the late 80's and early 90s any kind of dwelling near power lines was feared because the electromagnetic energy was going to kill everyone. Then a decade later the same media that hyped that up was pushing magnets as a form of healing therapy. So magnetic forces were killing us, now they are healing us. Keep buying into the idea that everything we do is going to catastrophically kill us all, I like that kind of fear because it makes for great sales when I write Post-Apocalyptic stories...
My daughter was allergic to wheat and apples at the age of 2. By the age of 4 she could eat wheat products and apples all day long without the slightest of side effects. That was 16 years ago, not just recently and not after exposure to GMO's. Allergies will come and go. I had a customer who was allergic to plastic after a house fire. Couldn't eat or drink anything that was stored or served in/on plastic. Had to provide bottled water in glass bottles on a trip we took them on. You expose your body enough to something bad and it can develop an allergy to it. Perhaps people are becoming allergic to certain processed foods because they simply expose themselves to too much of them. Personally, I am allergic to BS because these days there is just too much of it I get exposed to...
