T-Track
« on: October 24, 2014, 11:25:56 am »
I am planning on building a couple new workbenches, and T-track caught my eye. Does anyone here use it or have experience with it?

It is pretty much just a slotted metal bar that you flush mount on your bench table that you can use for clamping things down, making adjustable fences, creating awesome jigs, adding things to your bench that are secure but removable. Some of the the track seems stronger than others, some bands takes hex bolts, so your clamps can be custom built, but most all of it is very spendy. I also see a pitfall with constantly having to clean out the track grooves, or dealing with small screws or things that get lost or jammed in the slot.

Is this stuff worth adding to my workbench plans?

I have t-track on several things.....I've yet to get anything stuck in it.  Quick blast from air compressor cleans it all out.......not much "worse" than a mitre slot of material buildup really.  They are nice for the clamping or easily movable stop blocks and such.

hmm, looks like it could be useful.  The corner brackets for the pocket screws would be nice, but it definitely needs a hold down clamp on them as well.
My Projects:
MisSpent Youth a Vigolix bartop,  Little Bastard a rotating tablet/display bartop,
Pin-Dog a mini pin-cab on vpforums.org  Star Wars a wedgehead pincab on vpinball.com

Kreg makes a vice grip type clamp that slides into the t-track for those pocket hole joints.
