Donkey Kong Bartop

Hi,

This isn't really a project announcement, but I wanted to share it with you guys.

This mostly started out of love of the game. But when I saw this post on this forum http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,131566.0/all.html   It gave me all the inspiration and drive to actually do it. So thank you SuperFrog for the inspiration, and I hope I can inspire other people with my cabinet also.

I learned a lot in the process of making this cabinet and it's not perfect but close :)  . In the future I think i'm going to remake the cabinet, to make it even better.

In the cabinet there is a 60in1 yamma board, and the rest is pretty basic stuff.
If you have any questions , i'll be happy to awnser.

Looks good!

And sometimes, it's nice to see a thread where everything is done than 19 posts with one photo each spread out over a year.

That's really nice work!  :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:

I was also inspired by SuperFrog (the bartop wizard), and made a Fix it Felix cab based on his design. I have pics and everything here:

It is 71 cm tall and 55 cm deep (on it's deepest, CP area). And the inner width is 38 cm. I use 18mm plywood on the side panels so the total width will then be 38 + 1.8 + 1.8 = 41,6cm.

And yours?

Great work! I've been working on exactly the same project for years, but since I don't have a workshop right now it's on hold indefinitely  :(

With ground up donkey kong builds, the part I'm always curious about is the speaker grill. How'd you do yours?

Why would one grind up a good build like this. Your post makes nonsense. The trick to good grilling is to let the coals ash over first and use a chimney starter.

On my VCabinet bartop I made a similar grill. I made some kind of a jig:

The final result:

Verry Nice work i have a few questions

1 what did you scale down to from the original?
2 what size monitor did you use?
3 what is the angle the monitor is at?
4 Did you use mame or a jamma board and where did you get it if it's a jamma board which it looks like

Great Job im jealous i need to start my build now and stop drooling over yours.

1. I scaled it down 68% from original  ( example: 6cm x 0.68 = 4.08cm )
1.2 inner width is 44cm and is also use 18mm mdf, height:75cm and 51cm deep
2. Size is a 15 inch
3. I don't know the exact angle because i would hold the monitor in position and would sit in front of it until it looked good  ;D , then draw a line with a pencil on one side and copy it on the other.
4. Its a jamma board, I got it from a online store... just google it and you will find it. the only thing you have to be sure of is that it is a vertical game board and not horizantal.  Meaning that you will have to put your screen vertical in the cabintet.

Just draw the lines of the grill, and then draw the lines needed for your router to slide by...

The others have explained it already, but yeah I also used a drill and a router to do them (I put in two speakers; I do know that most old games are mono only but still two speakers give you better sound).

On this one you really have to try it out. I actually spent a couple of hours positioning the monitor.
