I have Sega stuff as well. I just understand that I have it because I'm an oddball and can appreciate unpopular things that aren't necessarily the best of quality.
How exactly was the Genesis (or Mega Drive) unpopular? It was responsible for diluting Nintendo's dominance in the console race and even though SNES "won" the 16-bit war, it was not a runaway victory....
The genesis was kind of popular in the way a classic #2 (aka the first loser) was popular. Very memorable at the time, but not much staying power as the years roll on. On the other hand.. the master system, sega cd, 32x, Saturn, and dreamcast... yeah they were all total flops. (Actually I'll give the DC a pass... who knows how successful it could have been if they hadn't pulled the plug.)
Look at a random list of the greatest console games of all time and nothing from team Sega even makes the top 25. Being a one hit wonder and being popular are two different things... just ask the Bah Ha men.... if you can remember who they are.

On the other hand I would guess that a 3rd to a half of the list would consist of either Nintendo games, or games that got their start on the NES.
It kind of was a runway victory btw.... I think when all was said and done the Snes sold better in very major market. What Sega did was filled a void. Nintendo didn't have any competition to speak of and that's extremely unhealthy, so of course if any serious competition, any at all, shows up it would show a drastic division in sales. As much as I dislike the company, Sony was Nintendo's first legitimate competition. I will give Sega credit for putting their foot in the door and even making competition possible though. After the crash most companies were too chicken to get in the business... they showed it could be done.
