Anyone play World of Tanks?
« on: January 12, 2015, 05:40:59 pm »
It's been out there for a few years.

I recently checked it out and it seems pretty fun for a "free-to-play" or "freemium" type game...

I doubt I will spend any real cash on it but the fact that I get to drive around in a tank, blow stuff up, and upgrade crew and tanks is cool.

There is a ton of info on the tank tree's...I'm finding some depth to the learning curve regarding tank stats and performance.

Any tips from those who play/have played?

All my Master Gunner instructors live on those servers it seems.  Both MGS and Abrams MG instructors.  They like it because the tanks are fairly realistic in capabilities and because, unlike FPS, in WoT armor tactics actually are a benefit so they clean up.  Learn screening techniques and how to effectively use battle positions for good fun.

I played for a few days with a buddy back when it came out, and I just got off the phone with another friend who decided to take it up and is now playing with other gaming friends of mine (including the first), so I might reinstall tonight and see if I can resurrect my old account and join them.  I also just cleaned my closet a few weeks ago and found a WoT card for like $50 in credit for in game stuff along with some experience booster.. it might work and it might not, lol.  I have given away $150 in stuff like that for WoT to friends because I didn't play (stuff I got with graphics cards and whatnot).
