He made some of the best movies in the last 30 years.

And now he will make them no more.  Although maybe he could still get a starring role in "Ghostbusters - From the Beyond".  I know "Too soon"  :laugh2: He did make some damned good movies though.

Loved all his movies.

Holy crap.  Well that's it, the intelligent comedy died with him.  I guess it's more marvel films and " _____ movie" until I eventually commit suicide from lack of compelling entertainment.

If they ever do make another Ghostbusters movie how epic would it be for them to run into Egon on a job?

Lots of mentions of Ghostbusters, but he also wrote:
Animal House, Meatballs, Stripes, SCTV, Caddyshack, Back to School, Groundhog Day, Analyze This, Analyze That.

Directed:
Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation, Groundhog Day, Multiplicity, Analyze This, Analyze That, The Office (4 episodes)

In this case, which is admittedly unique, I don't think so.  It's a perfect storyline that I bet Ramis would have appreciated.

Everyone dies.  We aren't mocking him, his life's work, or his demise.  It is OK to talk about this and remember him and his works fondly.

In the proposed sequel, he could visit each of the ghost busters.  Remind them of how important they were in saving New York and they have to get back together again.  He could pull out old photographs, clean/press their uniforms.  Say for example, they are geographically separated, the could help them get in touch with each other.

And it would be a neat way to get a new ghostbuster on the team.

I'm thinking any ghost could do those things.  Only Egon, however, could continue his research and guide them scientifically from the Other Side.  He could advance their abilities exponentially if he could continue to develop their techniques in parallel with whatever the next major threat turns out to be.

No other ghost would have a motive to reunite the Ghostbusters, unless to trick them.  So maybe a lesser demon was trying to trick them to be together, but be in the wrong spot at the wrong time and Egon feels a disturbance in the force and goes to find them.

Anyway, the story rights itself and I would totally watch a CGI Egon, where he was a plot device and the whole basis for a new sequel.  Quite frankly, it would be a clever way to reboot the franchise.  If any actors had second thoughts, the could donate their pay to the Vasculitis Foundation.

Not as direct a motive, anyway.  Anyone who had been saved by them in the past or anyone who has people still alive that they care about would have an indirect motive.  There's nothing to say Egon couldn't do both things.

Quote from: Tom
Growing up, Egon Spengler was the Ghostbuster to whom I could relate. Venkman was the player, Stantz was the dopey geek, Winston was the everyman voice of reason. Spengler embodied the socially awkward, book smart individual: the deadpan wallflower with no filter. I’m no genius parapsychologist, but I saw myself in there.  I built my own PKE meter from an old battery tester, put together a makeshift proton pack from a backpack and old toys and made mini movies with my sister and my friends. I immersed myself in books, mythology, comics, and art. I grew up and continued to pursue my passions, outsider or not, without regret or remorse. Egon helped me to understand that I could be included, be part of a cohesive whole, and do something with meaning without having to conform to what society dictates as “normality” and made me laugh while doing it.

Harold Ramis was a remarkable comedic writer, director and actor. His humor seeped into our collective consciousness and helped many of us embrace our inner geek. One of our classic TeeFury designs “Trap Them All” by the outstanding artist Scott Derby (nakedderby) is a fitting tribute to the man and the character. I hope you agree.

The man was a comedy icon.

Dont forget   Bedazzled.    He wrote the screenplay, and directed it.    Its one of the few movies in which I like Brendon Fraser... and in this movie, hes actually brilliant and funny as heck.  A lot of great supporting actors in there too, Elizabeth Hurley, and Orlando Jones.

If you havnt seen it... which a lot of people havent.. I highly recommend it.    I bought it, and enjoy it often.

He will be severely missed.  A true comedic genius.

Nobody should be passing away that early in life.

I actually enjoyed Bedazzled quite a bit, too.  (though I distinctly remember some choice Elizabeth Hurley footage being in the trailer that didn't make it into the movie, I'll forgive them)  The deleted wish scene was the best, shame it didn't make it into the final cut.

I don't know how much of the cast would have their hearts in it. Ernie Hudson already said no to GBIII after Ramis died.

If it gets made, it will just be a soulless cash grab missing most the cast unless Aykroyd rallies the troops to do it as a tribute.

Without Murray it is nothing.  I don't even like Bill Murray and I'll concede that.  That was always the major holdup.  Murray wouldn't do it.

He said he would do it if the script was right....after many years, the script was never right....

One this I appreciate about Murray was that his other demand was that Ernie Hudson (Winston) gets an equal role as the other Ghostbusters. Even in the second film, he was out of the picture for half of the movie.

They need to let it go.  It was already sketchy with Murry's limited role and this "passing of the torch" b.s.  (yeah we know how well that worked out with the last Indiana Jones film).  I was excited for a new Ghostbusters, even though I knew that it was going to be a little crappy, because Ramis and Akroyd were at the helm.  Without Ramis to reel in Akroyd's stupidity (ever seen Blues Bros. 2000?) it won't work.
