Time to say goodbye
« on: September 29, 2012, 11:24:00 am »

Well, its time for me to say goodbye to the emulation, arcade building and any related matters in my life. Im 35 years old and i still like video games, but im to thepoint where i fell this wont go any further. As far as MAME, i really dont care for newer games and even if i would, the games are to dificult or not fun, but even if i would care for newer games, i would need a super computer to emulate them wich i cant buy anyway. So im stuck there, on cab building, i have build every type of cab, i wanted to build, so no more fun there too, i reaaly dont find any amusement on this hobby anymore, thats why i have to step back and lay down my Emulation related stuff away, maybe in the future ill pick up.Until then, i wanna say thanks to the mame dev team for all of their countless eforts to make mame posible, the members at this forum for all of their help, and the original game developers for all of the fun they provide.Especial thanks to "Saint" for this great forum.
So no more to add, i really dont say goodbye, but rather i would say ,see you later guys. i had a great time. Sincerely  Abispac.

I think Jackson's voice was lower at that age than when he got older.

You've not been on many MMO boards have you?  It's pretty common whenever anybody makes a post about how they are leaving the game in question it is routinely followed by a stream of "can I have your stuff" replies.

Was just a joke that apparently was missed.

pfffft, like we would have noticed you were gone if you didn't make an announcement.  :P

This stuff has held my interest a lot longer than I expected.
Before the emulator stuff, I spent all my time modifying my motorcycle and posting tutorials.
Haven't been back to those forums in years.  Got tired of working on it more than riding it.

It's because it's constantly evolving, it involves collecting, and getting things to work is a bit of a puzzle sometimes.

So to give a video game analogy, emulator-based retrogaming is like If Tetris had a baby with Pokemon and that baby laid a magical egg that contains cool stuff every year or so.

Nobody quits this hobby.... they either die or run out of money.

Yeah, I think running out of space might be the biggest threat for me next to those two.

:D yeah, that would be my first on the list. Might be because I don't have much space atm though..just can't wait to start building a cab around my 29" Sony the "Space hogger". Might as well sell all my furniture, they are unnecessary anyways!

Oh, and see you later Abispac  ;)

It's all about right sizing... It can get overwhelming and frustrating at times.  So I get the urge to leave.

I find myself moving around the trinity of pinball, straight up dedicated vids and emulation.  When I began to shift focus from one to the other I truly thought I was giving up one for another... In reality I was simply tuning my collection and creating the overall experience I wanted from each of my games.

Happy Gaming!

Jeez, I got three of 'em, and a 31" presentation monitor.

Some relatives came by today to see my [new] house. My cousin said, "I didn't know you had so much gaming stuff."  My mom was all, 'He doesn't need a living room, he's got a pool table instead.'

Got tired of working on it more than riding it.

That's why I haven't built or modified anything in a while. Just getting ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out to work on stuff equals a game of something.
